Anyone worried? I sorta am, particularly with the sudden loss of power since the break.

It's about that time of the year again...

Frankly, this idea doesn't turn me on as much as it did last year. I think it is far more important that the guys play well and this team wins a few more games than it would just tanking. I'm petrified of getting stuck in a cycle of badness, and if 2015 is a lost season (as some are already saying) what then? Tank the 15 season also? Last year was the worst I think I've seen this team play, it was different then than it is now. To me this is a group on the cusp of contending, and unless we lose every game from here on out were not getting Carlos Rodon II dropped in our laps a second time around. -
Anyone have any idea how guys are hitting the ball against Spencer Adams? Are these runs merely a product of lolAZLfielding or are people making solid contact on him? Because he's giving up a little less than1 HR/9, striking out more than a batter per inning and walking nobody.

3 outfielders are necessary to play the game of baseball. Avi and Eaton give us two.
-
He's a free agent after next season, the Braves may not be interested in paying him. Who knows.

Problems that can be solved internally: 2B Depth #5 starter 1 (MAYBE 2, MAYBE) bullpen arms. Leaving us holes at LF, 2 BP arms and at least one more starter that we must acquire from abroad. We have the payroll flexibility and trade bullets to at least give us something at those spots while not gutting the farm or eradicating all of payroll options going forward. DH I do not worry about, I actually like leaving that spot open the way many teams are nowadays. Someone does tend to step forward in that role or encourage a platoon.
-
Any day where the bullpen only gives up 5 earned runs is a good day.
-
If we give Brandon McCarthy $30m I'm going to seriously contemplate whether or not reptilians have infiltrated our front office.

Every year you can squeeze out of Abreu, Sale and Quintana on these contracts should be used to compete. There is no reason to gaze longingly to the north side and their indefinite rebuild that is going to stretch the better part of this decade. Go for broke and try and put together a SS contender? Not necessarily. However this division is not getting stronger next year unless this Twins thing happens more rapidly than it should, no reason at all for the Sox to not make some moves to go for it.
-
I'm talking about next year. You do know that absolutely none of the guys we have in the pen now should be around next year? That we need an entirely new group? Even Petricka is kinda garbage (he just looks nice because he's surrounded by a dumpster). Also, there is a precedent on the roster right now for starting a big league career in the pen. I don't really like it either to be honest, I'd rather see Rodon start off the bat. But! I'd also like to win in 2015 and I think with a decent pen they can. That's more important than being accomodating to Rodon.
-
This indeed is a problem. But right now the bullpen is giving up an unimaginable amount of runs. Even if a bad starter gives up 5 in 5 innings and the Sox offense matches it's a foregone conclusion that the opponent is going to hit double digits runs. It's impossible to win anything with a pen this bad. You can at least try to make up for a couple bad starters.
-
The Sox might be realising they have to overhaul the entire bullpen in one offseason, and since spending big money on a closer is out of the question they may have to Rodon it for a year.

It's been obvious for a while now he's gone. I really don't know who takes his place, in his absence the show has wavered between so bad it's awesome (Peggy Kusinski) and passable (Abbatacola). Personally, I think Jason Goff is coming back to SCR and it'll be announced at B&B's extravaganza. Whether he takes Mac's spot I don't know, he's probably the only piece of on air talent theyve had I'd be interested in giving a try. The station is in a really bad way right now, Holmes sucks, Mully and Hanley is garbage, Spiegs is doing OK and their traditional anchor (B&B) has all but collapsed since Goff left.

I should note, a manometer is a real thing that measures pressure.
-
It's a weird Terry thing. The manometer measures the pressure beared by the final crapper on Who Ya Crappin. It's measurement is interpreted by the actual geographic local of the instrument. Its must be in a place who's namw starts with "Man", example: Manchester, Manteno, Manitowoc, Manitoba. Generally speaking, the further south or warmer climate the manometer is in, the greater the stakes for the Big Finish on WYC. Right now I believe it's in Manaus.

Semien is by a decent margin the best positional prospect we have, an easy argument could be made he's projects as well (or even better than) Rodon. Just because he struggled in his one month in the majors, albeit while seeing an AL-leading pitches per at bat, and has since hit line drives exactly where fielder's are standing at Charlotte changes nothing. Plenty of guys take a couple months to adjust to major league pitching, and I'm still aggravated that we upset that process because GORDON BECKHAM MUST PLAY.
-
It's not that simple. I can't do this tiering because if Spencer Adams realizes his full potential (and avoids injury) he's a top of the rotation starter. But even if he falls a little short of that he's a fantastic arm to have in the rotation. Or maybe he's better suited for the pen. Or maybe his arm blows up. Who knows. It's one thing to rank them against each other, a whole new can of worms when you're projecting them against roles defined by the current state of Major League Baseball.

Is Ventura the worst manager in the history of MLB?
BaconOnAStick replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I thought tonight's move to put Dunn in there for the 9th was a pretty aware move by Robin. You've got an entire pitching staff struggling at a level that almost defies comprehension (14 straight relievers giving up a run is nuts) and guys are worried about being sent down, getting edgy and playing nervous. I don't care if they deserve to be sent down or DFA'd or what, at this point it's obvious the Sox are flat out of options to replace people. So you throw Dunn out there, get a few laughs, loosen things up and try and get these guys who whether we like it or not will be on this team the next 2 months to stop getting in their own heads. Of course it might not make any difference, bad is bad, but it's probably a pretty dour mood in the clubhouse and this hopefully livens it up. -
Funny thing about bullpens is you can send them all to the glue factory and have a complete turnaround in one offseason. The Danks Problem however is one Hahn will struggle mightily with. If we wind up paying half that salary for him to pitch elsewhere I'm nominating the FO for a Nobel Peace Prize.

When the manager looks to the bullpen and pick Adam Dunn... well its hard to sink lower than that.

The pitcher is batting in an AL game.
-
Yea. At least according to Farmio.

Changed to a hit.

Coop'll fix him
