Eaton has 21 game on base streak going

In his second stint starting this year he has actually has been a decent starter. 4.43 ERA and 3.65 FIP in that span is worthy of a rotation spot (esp considering he plays in an AL band box). Many here of course dont like him because he doesn't light up a radar gun, but he has a knack for creating outs. The league had a chance to figure him out and turn him into a batting tee and it hasn't happened. Erik Johnson, who lasted a month in the bigs and has gotten shelled in Charlotte ever since, will get more love. Same goes for John Danks, who has been worse than Carroll this year and costs $14.5m. As long as Carroll holds the course for the rest of the year there is absolutely no reason to disregard him in the 2015 plans at least as a spot starter/long man.

Erik Johnson is toast. Do yourselves a favor and give up on him.

I give credit to Hahn for rebuilding the lineup 2 years faster than could be reasonably expected, locking up two ace lefthanders and stocking the system with a trio of young arms (Danish, Montas, Rodon) that all project, for now, as starters. The quality of work he did in so quickly improving this team, where our starters and lineup are exceeding all reasonable expectations, exposed Hahn's treating the bullpen as an afterthought this year. Had he not done such a great job in other areas the bullpen wouldn't be an issue, or at least to the extent it is now. So it's whatever. The team he built has been so good that now his approach has come back around to bite him. If we go into 2015 only needing a few peripheral moves in the lineup, one more starter and a rebuilt bullpen to be serious playoff contenders the work he's done already is incredible.

Puig is 0 for tonight. Abreu probably overtook him. He's gained a ton of ground on Trout, too. -

Nieto automatically on roster at least as backup defensive catcher 5th Starter: Carroll and Beck compete for 5th starter spot, loser goes to bullpen. ------------- SP John Danks, 2B Gordon Beckham and $4m to San Diego Padres for RP Kevin Quackenbush and C Yasmani Grandal. This appeals to San Diego because they are only on the hook for $10.5m, while Danks could easily find success from both Petco and the NL. That could make him very attractive to a team rebuilding to potentially flip at the deadline. Beckham as a possible reclamation project holds value too. 3B Conor Gillaspie, OF Dayan Viciedo, SS Tim Anderson and SP Francellis Montas to Atlanta Braves for OF Jason Heyward and RP Jordan Walden. The blockbuster. It is unlikely Atlanta will want to pay Heyward after 2015, and with only one year left on his current contract he'll be quietly on the block for the right deal. Heyward would be a colossal acquisition, his OF defense alone would be worth 2 or 3 wins compared to Viciedo, but he fills the gaping need for a lefty power bat in the middle of the lineup. His offense is down this year, but part of buying low is accepting that risk. The Sox pay a hefty price, Gillaspie is about as good an option as can be found at 3rd this offseason, Viciedo has obvious untapped potential and Anderson/Montas constitute two B level prospects. This is more than enough value in exchange for one year of Heyward, so we get another BP arm thrown in. The Sox plan should immediately shift to an extension for Heyward, if not already having the trade hinge on an agreement. SP Andre Rienzo, SP Erik Johnson and OF Courtney Hawkins to Cleveland Indians for 3B/1B/C Carlos Santana. The Indians are kind of stupid and are somehow sick of Carlos Santana. I don't get it, but Rienzo, Johnson + Hawkins would actually get this done. Obvious filling of the DH need plus Santana can spell Abreu at 1st and (in a pinch) get behind the plate 2 or 3 times a year. Sign RP Andrew Miller 2 years / $15m Possible overpay, but the team maintains tons of payroll flexibility and can afford blowing some money. Going overboard to fix what went so catastrophically wrong in 2014 is defensible. Sign SP Brandon McCarthy 1 year / $6.5m McCarthy needs a "prove it" year before reentering free agency again in 2016, the Sox should be happy to give it to him. Especially when they really will only need the rotation spot he occupies filled for another year (if that) before Rodon enters.

Was in Louisville for tonight's game. Micah was finding his way on base a lot and also laid down a bunt that looked like he had no business beating out but it looked like he could have been safe with replay (advancing the runners to 2nd and 3rd in the process). Wilkins hit the ball really well (no cheap hits) but looked subpar on defense. Cleto was hitting 100 on the gun and pitching really well for 3 innings which was surprising. Semien and Davidson couldn't square anything up.

I wish we lost miserably in front of that huge crowd so we could get a draft pick /s

Can't tell if you guys are being sarcastic again, but if you decide to sit Sale (not skip a start or two, just shut him down completely) and Abreu I'm pretty sure that would hurt attendance even more especially with Abreu in the midst of a home run title race.
-
I've always liked Alexei hitting second.
-
Abreu, after this game, inched ahead of Bautista and Encarnacion to be 3rd in the AL in OPS, and 5th in all of the MLB.
-
I voted no because I thought he declined.

Now it looks like weather.com says it won't rain. I still plan on leaving for the game as if it would start on time. *its worth noting that it takes me about 15 mins to get there, if it was a big trip maybe the weather would scare me off

Everyone loves talking about regression to the mean here only when players are playing well/above expectations. Just like in April with Flowers. De Aza is having a markedly career low BABIP this year. Just like Flowers isn't going to hit .300, De Aza sure as s*** isn't going to hit .185 all year. His average should level out to something that isn't atrocious.

Either this board has a different definition of trolling that I do or some people are a little sensitive here.
