  1. Good work on that list. My favorite was Frank Lane who built the GO GO Sox. He was quite a character who once thought of trading the whole team when he took over the Cardinals and he traded managers when he was with the Indians. He also traded Indian favorite Rocky Colovito to Detroit for Harvey Kueen which almost led to riots in Cleveland I also liked Ed Short who made the Luis Aparcio trade that brought us Hoyt Wilhelm, Pete Ward, Ron Hansen and Dave Nicholson after the 62 season, The Sox had their 3 best consecutive seasons in their history in 63, 64 and 65 winning 94, 98 and 95 games in those 3 seasons, and came close to winning the pennant in 67 with a great pitching but a horrible hitting team. I think we all know what happened in the last week of the 67 season.
  2. I've been following them since 1952 and have managed to keep my sanity. This season has tested everyone's sanity and I say they have to do all they can to win the division because you never know what can happen in a short series, that being said we aren't close to to being real World Series contenders like the Yankees, Dodgers and Astros. Let's hope they win the Division but in the off season the Front Office is going to have to do a re-tool. I think Abreu has 1 more year in the tank but he should be used as DH a lot more next year, this way Vaughn can play his natural posistion at first base. Moncada is becoming a lost cause, he's just about back to the Mendoza line again but he's got that contract, somehow the F.O.has to find another team to take him off our hands. Rightfield, second base and catcher are positions that need to be addressed, give Burger a shot at 3rd. Harrison has done a pretty good job after a terrible few months of the season, I think he would make a very good utility guy and can be a late inning defensive replacement for Burger. It looks like Grandal has lost his power and is not a good catcher, he's another guy that somehow has to be moved and a decent catcher picked up. Lastly somehow JR has to come to his senses and send TLR packing. What would be even better is if JR sold the club.
  3. Watch it, I'll be 77 in a few months and I have a lot more on the ball and more energy than that corpse who is managing our team.
  4. So far doing nothing to improve the team is about as bad as the White Flag trades.
  5. Earth shattering trade, start printing the World Series tickets.
  6. So did he have a cold or was that a smoke screen?
  7. Who wouldn't be interested.
  8. Everything goes back to JR, he's never believed in spending big money on the farm system or what he described as potential. I'm not sure who the managers and coaches are at the Minor League level but I'm sure they aren't the best that money can buy as player development has not been a strong suit under JR's regime.
  9. No doubt the odds would be against us but anything can happen in a short series.
  10. Wouldn't it be great if we had a franchise that wasn't built to win now but constructed to win all the time like the Yankees and Dodgers. It won't happen as long as JR is the owner is the owner of the Chicago American League Baseball Club. I also believe that we need to be buyers, who would sell when you are only 2 games out in the Division and 2 games out of a WC spot.
  11. That's a White Owl Wallop and a box of White Owl cigars for Leury Garcia.
  12. They might want to re-think about him being the face of the franchise. He's no Harold Baines or Paul Konerko.
  13. I agree with Levine, I won't be surprised to see TA the first one traded. I've had enough of Moncada but who would want him and his contract.
  14. At least the Hawks gave us 3 Stanley Cups last decade and 4 in my years as a fan.
  15. As I mentioned in another thread, if we get swept by the A's it's time to re-tool. The White Sox are in my DNA and I will continue to watch and pull for them but this year has really been a test.
  16. If we get swept by the A's which is a good possibility as they also swept the Astros then we have to blow up this this team of losers and quitters. I don't know if I can take watching this sorry cast of characters any longer. Build around Cease, Kopech, Robert and Vaughn and I'd keep Jose to DH. There are no other untouchables. FUCK JR AND TLR.
  17. Maybe they want to be traded, they know this is one screwed up organization.
  18. You couldn't write a book about the 2022 White Sox season, the players and the manager. It's beyond fiction, simply unbelievable.
  19. Huge loss, we had some nice momentum going with 3 straight wins and it would have been great heading home 2 games out and 2 games over .500. These guys can't afford to lose anymore games like this, it's crunch time.
  20. The guy I wanted is now a Yankee. The rich get richer.
  21. 70 years for me and the triple play will always blow my mind in my remaining years. I'm not sure on the pick off with a walk, might have seen that before. One thing for sure is the intensity of this team is missing most of the time, they make stupid mistakes and sometimes are just plain lazy, this has to be on TLR and if the Sox bring him back next year it will go down has the biggest blunder of JR's ownership which has seen so many.
  22. The trouble for the last 4 decades is that asshat and his cronies that own the team. JR, sell the team now and take the huge profit and move back to Brooklyn where you belong. We won in 2005 inspite of you.
