  1. Outstanding pitching in 1967, led the league in ERA. If the Sox just had some hitting they would have won the pennant and still might have but in the last week the Sox lost 5 straight to the 2 worst teams in the league, the A's and Senators.
  2. Had to be in 68 or 69, only 2 years they played together on the Sox. His best years were in 63 and 64, right after the Aparicio trade with the Orioles that brought him to the Sox, then the accident in 1965 that I mentioned in an earlier post hampered the rest of his career.
  3. One of my favorites. A shame his career was never the same after sustaining back and neck injuries in an accident after a Blackhawk-Canadiens playoff game in April of 1965.
  4. I've been a White Sox fan since 1952 and forgotten more about the Sox than you will ever know and at 76 years old I have remarkable memory.
  5. Exactly, maybe they're thinking Burger can handle 2B with Harrison on board as an insurance policy.
  6. Robert is only going to get better. Question, taking hitting out of the equation, who is the better centerfielder, Engle or Robert?
  7. Agree, if we get an upgrade at second base, a right fielder who can hit and field and a SP to fill Rodon's shoes, then we might be #2 in the Power Rankings.
  8. Wouldn't bother me to trade Moncada, his career has not progressed as well as we thought though he has turned into a fine third baseman.
  9. Sheets and Vaughn are not right fielders, Vaughn is adequate in left. Leury should never play the OF, please Sox, sign someone to play right field that can field and hit and someone better thsn Harrison for second base, I'd rather see Leury at second. So far, the Sox have not made one trade that has improved the club. Sheets and Vaughn should be the DH's on a platoon basis.
  10. Lopez was a great manager but really screwed up in the 59 Series, as did 3B coach Tony Cuccienello when in game 2 he sent Sherm Lollar home with the tying run in the 7th inning with no outs and slow Lollar was out by a mile, saw it person at old Comiskey.
  11. Can't believe anyone would give that much money to a guy whose damaged goods.
  12. Putin is a KGB bully, he would love to see a rebirth of the USSR, this could be the start.
  13. But it was Tom Seaver that got his 300th win. Do you remember slugger Roy Sievers who had 2 productive years with the Sox in 1960 and 1961.
  14. I'm 76 and as traditional as can be but I am open to some things like a going to conferences with geographical divisions, I'd like a shorter season while adding to teams in the playoffs. I'm for the universal DH. I'd like expansion with 2 more teams for a total of 32 with 2 conferences made up with 2 divisions of 8 in each conference.
  15. I don't think I ever said that, I'm an old fart who remembers when Bleacher seats were a dollar, General Admission 1.25 and Box Seats way up there at 2.50. Hot Dogs and soda pop was 25 cents and a bag of peanuts 15 cents.
  16. A pox on both of their houses, don't feel sorry for any of these gazillionaires. If and when they come to an agreement, it's us fans who will get hurt the most with higher ticket prices, higher food and beverage prices at the park and probably higher cable rates.
  17. Well the NHL and NBA playoffs will be going on until June so we all have something to keep our sports minds occupied.
  18. Good riddance to bad rubbish, how did this guy last as long as he did as an umpire?
