  1. He was 100 years old, not 99. As an oldster who became a Sox fan in 1952, I remember him along with a few others from the early GO GO years. He had a nice career and played with almost every team in the AL, sort of wierd that his best year with home runs was with the Sox while playing in cavernous Comiskey Park.
  2. Red Sox just won, Yankees at Boston Tuesday in the WC game, winner faces the Rays Thursday in St. Pete.
  3. They don't trust the vaccine.
  4. Not really a summer vacation but we are big lovers of cruises, we've taken 62 of them. Because of Covid it's been almost 2 years since our last one. We finally decided its time to test the waters ( no pun intended) and have booked a cruise for Nov 28 with Princess Cruises. Protocols are in place, you must be vaccinated and have a negative Covid test dated no earlier than 48 hours before boarding the ship, masks are required indoors except when dining or in your cabin, if you are out on deck no masks are required. Cabins are being sold at 60% of capacity. Princess started sailing again in June and have had no incidents of Covid cases on their ships so it's all aboard in 8 weeks.
  5. I personally know more Dems than Republicans that have refused the Jab. I live in Florida and in a county with a very large Senior Citizen population and older folks are a go for the vaccine, the Dems I know that refused the Jab are neighbors in their 40s and 50s. I play in a golf group 3 times a week and its mostly Republican with a few Democrats and we are all over 70 and we all have had the vaccine. I think the issue is more to do with age than politics.
  6. He had some bad luck and could have picked up a few more wins. I'm not sure who TLR will pick to start the first game but I have no trouble with it being Gio.
  7. Congrats to my second favorite team, the Tampa Bay Rays on winning the AL Eastern Division. So far a great year for such a fun team to watch, they will be tough in the playoffs.
  8. Might as well just shut him down for the rest of the year.
  9. 162 game averages are 29 homers, 94 RBI and .860 OPS. 15 more years of that works for me.
  10. In 2008 I was 62 years old, married, retired and living in Florida playing golf 4 times a week. In 2021 I am 75 years old, married, retired, and living in Florida playing golf 3 times a week. Going all the way back to 1959, yesterday Sept 22 was the 62nd anniversary of my boyhood heroes winning the AL pennant for the first time in 40 years. I was 13 years old and just entered 8th grade a few weeks earlier, it was one of the great days of my youth. 10 days later my favorite uncle took my mom and me to the second game of the World Series, a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to the Dodgers.
  11. They still have 1 more game in Detroit tomorrow, if KC beats Cleveland tonight we can clinch with a win on Wednesday in Motown.
  12. No doubt this team has been underperforming since the break, why, I don't know. They are a .500 team since the break and I just dont see them turning on a switch and becoming world beaters. At this point I can't see them beating the Astros in the playoffs. I hope I'm wrong as I've been a fan for almost 70 years and I like to see another World Championship in my lifetime.
  13. If things go right tonight, it could be down to 1.
  14. A little too early for that, we need a larger sample than 29 AB's but I do like what I'm seeing so far.
  15. Not really playoffs, at least we won the American League pennant those years.
  16. Except for 2005, we bowed out in the first round in 1983, 1993, 2000, 2008 and 2020.
  17. I dont see anyone giving him a long term contract, 2 years at the most.
  18. Just pathetic, I'm not feeling good about the team right now.
  19. I wouldn't count on it unless we see a dramatic turn around in what's left of the season.
