  1. Who cares whether it's Moncada, Moncado or Avacado, the guy is a bust and I am keeping my fingers crossed that he's traded before the 2023 season starts.
  2. Yeah, we drove by the stadium last week on the way to dinner, from the road you could see extensive damage. Ian really did a number to our area and so many things still have to be fixed plus the massive clean up is ongoing and who knows how long it will take. The roofers down here are going to busy for a least a couple of years, it's amazing seeing so many homes with blue tarps waiting for new roofs. We live in a condo with our street having condos on one side and single family homes on the other, our condo didn't lose a shingle as we had a new roof put up in April and most of the other condos made out well but every single family house is tarped.
  3. I always thought that Walker was going to be maybe a superstar especially with that sweet swing of his but it was not to be and then he had a seizure in 1988 just about ending his career.
  4. I'm old and wanted to put Appling on my SS list but I never saw Luke play and I'm not THAT old.
  5. When has he ever done that?
  6. My take is they couldn't get together on money or years.
  7. Didn't realize that, I wonder if the Sox are interested.
  8. We should try prying a catcher from the Ray's, they have 3 with Mejia, Bethancourt and Zunino. Zunino is coming back after surgery last year and not sure how he will be.
  9. Shortstop has been pretty good, off the top of my head since 1952 we’ve had Carassquel, Aparicio twice, Hansen, Dent, Guillen, Valentine, Uribe, Ramirez and Anderson. Might have left off a few, we had some years that were pretty bad at short also.
  10. I think we need to get a tie with England and then England beats Wales.
  11. We needed a win against Wales, it's going to be hard now to advance out of the group, need at least a tie against England to have a chance.
  12. I bet he does too, he'd be a gazillionaire.
  13. That’s cool but for whatever reasons he’s just not as good as he was touted to be.
  14. Why wait so long after the season ended, I've had 2 knee surgeries and sometimes things take longer than expected, season ended 6 weeks ago, that is 6 weeks more to get the knee in shape.
  15. These were the best followed by the current units which we’ve had since 1991. The 1971s were good but thought they were better for the Red Sox. I hated the 1976-1981 and the 81-86, horrible unis. One of my big wishes is MLB players all wore their uniforms alike, after all they are called uniforms, they should all have the same colored shoes and I wish they went back to the stirrups, straight long pants look sloppy.
  16. Grifol has his work cut out for him, let's hope he can turn this mess around.
  17. He regressed because he was injured with a bad back most of the year. I just read that the Rays are thinking of moving Lowe to first base which makes a ton of sense with Choi traded to the Pirates and the Rays have a quite a few options at 2B. That said and done, would I like the Brandon Lowe on the White Sox, you're darn tootin I would.
  18. We were also one of the first homes on our block to have a UHF TV, I want to say it was 1965 right before I enlisted in the USAF. My Dad wasn't a baseball fan and no one knew the Sox would be on UHF in 1968, we just needed a new TV and my Dad was always up on the latest in electronics so our new 19 inch TV had UHF.
  19. I was going to mention those 3 years which was painful for me as I became a fan in 1952 and never experienced a losing season by a White Sox team. The funny thing about it is that I was in Vietnam all of 1968 but still followed the Sox in the daily Stars and Stripes Newspaper. I remember one day when the Sox made the front page as they had a photo and caption of Hoyt Wilhelm breaking the record for most appearances by a pitcher.
  20. That move to UHF32 in 1968 was another move that led to Chicago eventually becoming a Cubs town. Very few homes and families had TVs that had UHF and here go the White Sox leaving WGN for a UHF station that no one could watch. Can't blame JR for that one but if he was the owner at the time, he probably would have made the same move. I've read that Jack Brickhouse just about begged the Sox to stay with WGN but to no avail.
