The ghost runner is a joke but as we all know it comes down to saving pitchers arms with the possibility of eliminating long extra innings games. About 2 months ago I posted that the way to get away from all this insanity in extra inning games is to just play 9 inning games with the possibility of ties with the system the NHL used for many decades which was 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie. Just about every Soccer league in the World have no problems with games ending in ties with similar points distribution. There will some changes in strategy with a road team happily accepting the 1 point earned for a tie and the home team probably a bit upset.
