  1. I played Little League Baseball there in 1957 and 1958.
  2. I was thinking that maybe it has already set in, we’ve seen some bizarre moves by him with bringing TLR back and the hiring of a failed Getz. Who else would have done that?
  3. I wonder if he even knows how despised he is by White Sox fans.
  4. JR the greedy bastard must do the right thing and sell, he said last year when Hahn and Williams were fired and Getz hired that things would get better, he lied like the POS he is and the franchise is at a just about an all time low right down there with the Black Sox. I hate hearing that apathy is rampant among the fans, I know you think that there is no way the White Sox leave Chicago but if the fans are apathetic and no one cares, what happens then.
  5. He wants to win but only his way, how’s that working out.
  6. I feel so much better knowing according to Schriffen that the Sox aren’t that bad and just unlucky that they catching teams while they are hot, I’m sure things will average out.
  7. I can’t laugh at any of this except that Getz actually thought he had put together a competitive team. This is really hard for me, I’ve lived and died for 72 years with the White Sox and I never thought that we would see something this bad with the franchise. This is beyond embarrassing, I would call it almost a crime. I wish somehow someway that the season could end today and save us more grief and heartache. We are doomed as long as the 3 Stooges of Moe Reinsdorf, Larry Getz and Curly Grifol are running the franchise.
  8. Reinsdorf is destroying the franchise.
  9. Maybe these clowns should look at themselves in the mirror, especially guys like Vaughn, Benintendi and ILOY.
  10. Grifol is a horrible manager but it doesn’t matter because this is one of the worst baseball teams I have ever seen, a roster made up of AAA players, castoffs and losers, no manager could win with these bums. What’s hilarious is that Getz thought that this team could compete. They are without a doubt going to have a hard time besting the 40-120 record of the 1962 Mets.
  11. Among other things Jimmy thought Nellie was a crybaby when guys slid into second base with the spikes a little on the high side, much different game in those days.
  12. And Eddie Stanky leading off, he once walked 7 times in a row and had a great lifetime OBP of .410.
  13. I was friends with Jimmy back in my tennis days in Wheaton, Jimmy and I belonged to the same club and talked White Sox baseball all the time in person and on the phone. Only thing that bothered me is that he hated my boyhood hero, the Mighty Mite, Nellie Fox but he also despised Tony LaRussa.
  14. I could never root against the Sox but these last 2 years are trying my patience and am so close to giving up and just make the Rays my team, the Rays will never be in my DNA like the Sox have been for me since 1952 but Reinsdorf is destoying the franchise to what end I don’t know. His miserly ways down through the years has given us inept GMs, inept managers, inept players, an inept farm system with horrible scouting and development along with horrible analytics. I just don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel as long as JR is the owner of the franchise.
  15. Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall broadcast some lousy Sox teams in their years on the Southside and were honest and critical, I wonder what they would be saying if they had to broadcast a team that was as bad as the 2024 White Sox, it would probably be hilarious.
  16. Good riddance to the worst umpire I’ve ever seen, this guy was a joke.
  17. I don’t want Grifol still manager in a month or two.
  18. Bottom line is that we have a very bad team, a very bad manager, a very bad GM and a very bad owner, I guess that is why we have a very bad record with a recipe for disaster.
  19. You put GRF at 78 facing northeast with great views of the skyline and it automatically becomes one of the better parks in MLB.
  20. Didn’t Reinsdorf buy some land near the United Center, maybe it will be built there. I still think 78 is the better place.
  21. OMG. I hope MLB isn’t seriously considering expansion, there aren’t enough good pitchers to go around right now, it would be a joke if they went ahead with expansion.
  22. Why? Does Getz have any kind of a clue.
  23. The big problem is the White Sox year by year are becoming less and less relevant in the Chicago Metropolitan area and their share of the market is becoming less and less. Places like NW Indiana and SW Michigan were once home to many White Sox fans but are now Cubs country. The Sox have never been popular in Illinois south of Chicago as that is Cubs and Cardinal country. We will in our lifetimes never see the Sox as popular as the Cubs, the only hope is new ownership along with a new stadium at the 78 property which will help with out of towners and the local casual fan who won’t travel to 35th and Shields but would make the trip to the South Loop to catch a Sox game. All my acquaintances that I’ve known in my years in Florida and have visited Chicago never took in a game at the new park but of course saw a Cubs game at Wrigley, a few old timers did visit old Comiskey in the 1950s and 60s. I’m old enough to remember when Chicago had 2 NFL teams, in fact I went to the second to last Cardinal game in 1959. I remember the NBA Packers/Zephyrs who lasted 2 years in Chicago and moved to Baltimore and are now the Washington Wizards, went to a few of their games when they played at the Amphitheater. This notion that MLB will never let the White Sox leave Chicago is a bunch of baloney, money talks, bull s%*# walks. Don’t ever forget that MLB let the Dodgers and Giants leave New York City after the 1957 season, who would have predicted that. The next couple of years on and off the field will tell a lot about the future of the Sox in Chicago, keep your fingers crossed.
