  1. At some point, Dunn has to sit and stay seated -- no matter how much money he is making. No way you can justify playing him at all the next six games in NL parks. He hit the century mark in Ks today -- and has 22 more than Mark Reynolds, 276 more than BJ Upton and 45 more than Jeff Francouer. I'd really know if The Chairman has ever called Kenny Stanford into this office and asked "WTF is this?"
  2. Counting on him to neutralize Giambi and Helton in Colorado!
  3. left-hander with below average control who has been so-so at Birmingham. Four lefties in the pen? Why this guy instead of Infante or addison Reed? Kenny Stanford has a plan.
  4. The Chairman once fired some guy named LaRussa (who had won a division title) in the middle of the season to hire Jim Fregosi. Another guy named Hawk convinced him to make the move.
  5. also intrigued by Brandon Short. Seems like a late-bloomer, although he definitely needs to improve his walk-rate -- just 16 in 294 plate appearances.
  6. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) Not that you were comparing Kuhn to Boggs or anything, but Boggs had 337 BB/134 SO in 662 Minor League games (2,647 AB). His minor league numbers may not be "sexy", but he was the definition of an 80 contact hitter throughout his career, Majors and minors. Boggs was 24 when he got to the majors and played 104 games. When he was 25 he had 210 hits. not saying kuhn isn't a prospect, although he has never made the Sox list of top 30 prospects with Baseball America. But chances are he'll be a Graffanino type.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:02 AM) He's no more out of shape than he has been the last 6 or 7 years. He just hasn't hit. career .248 hitter. saying he ever 'hit' is a stretch. he's got 3 1/2 years to turn it around. No rush.
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:01 AM) As one of KW's biggest supporters and defenders over the years here (I don't think I ever even posted a negative thought regarding him), I'd like to say a big "f*** YOU Kenny!" We're watching this impotent offense night after night while stiffs like Pierre and Rios are trotted out there night after night and KW can't even bring Viciedo up from Charlotte because our moronic asshole of a manager can't figure out where to play him! They can't give Viciedo a chance yet Beckham can continue to stink the place up with his ridiculous swing and Rios can stink the place up with his ridiculous batting stance while Greg Walker is given another vote of confidence. And Juan Pierre can suck on offense, suck on defense, and suck on the basepaths yet lead off every game night after night. f*** JR, KW, Ozzie and the rest. I'll laugh at them when the Cubs sweep the Sox at the Cell in front of nightly crowds of 25,000 next week. amen
  9. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:56 AM) The guy consistently hits well his entire career. We sign him and all of a sudden he doesn't hit. Yeah, that's KW's fault. Guy ain't in shape, saw his on-base percentage go down 42 points last year and can't play in the field Reds fans haven't stopped laughing since the day the Sox signed him.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:48 AM) If I could ask KW one question it would be what exactly did his big board show his rotation would be in 2012 when he was thinking of making the Hudson trade. Kinda ironic that Dunn was the player we were trying to get. Dunn is the player we HAD to have -- and he can't even get on the field in NL parks at $14 million. Against a right-handed pitcher. That's on KW.
  11. too embarrassing for words. i guess you have to have a degree from stanford to explain why this guy wasn't good enough to pitch for the Sox -- at close to league minimum.
  12. Gotta be a reason the Dodgers, Rays, Tigers and Diamondbacks have all shown Jackson the door -- even though he has a power arm. I think we're seeing the evidence. Hudson is at least his equal as a pitcher at 1/10th the price. Also not an Ozzie issue.
  13. With Dunn, Rios and Peavy, Kenny Williams has stuck The Sox with $45 million worth of nothing.
  14. It wouldn't fix this season but it would show The Chairman is tired of his dreadful trades and throwing money away on Dunn, Manny Ramirez, Rios and others. Giving up Hudson and Gio, young, inexpensive starting pitching, was simply foolish. Bring somebody in who will also upgrade the farm system. That's not an ozzie issue either.

  16. I'll take a beatdown in this game if this is what it takes to get Kenny Williams fired.
  17. also appears that Mitchell left after two at-bats at Winston-Salem.
  18. Peavy nine Ks, two hits, no walks in six scoreless innings. He might be named International League POW.
  19. When will Poreda be free to cut his own deal? I agree that there's nothing to lose taking a look at a left-handed power arm. Just need to fix him enough to get a batter or two out. what's the risk?
  20. Tyler Kuhn went 2 for 5 with a sacrifice fly as Birmingham lost a doubleheader Wednesday, and he also drew this story in his hometown paper: http://www.courier-journal.com/article/201...ell|text|Home|p
  21. night off for viciedo or ...?
  22. standing O for Lilli by fans near third base after he finishes post-game interview Who'da thunk it?
  23. ovah; W -- Danks (2-8) S -- Lillibridge (5)
  24. Crain playing with fire. getting behind.
