  1. Kotsay about five years past his prime. this is about as meaningful as trading for Griffey last season. Surely Kenny Kool can pick up a better piece than this.
  2. please advise interrupts its football lovefest to put something on.
  3. Where can you watch the cut-ins at the mlb site?
  4. mlb.com says there was an injury delay in the bottom of the 7th. What was it?
  5. Who have you seen in the Sox minor-league system who is capable of being a lead-off man for the Sox? Do you expect Jared Mitchell to begin his career with Winston-Salem?
  6. is four straight the longest winning streak this season?
  7. it's a poll in sports illustrated. allegedly 380 players voted. Couldn't vote for your own guy. Piniella worst. Ozzie second. LaRussa third. For my money, Mike Scioscia it the best manager in the game. Dusty Baker has to be in any discussion of the worst -- unless Terry Bevington makes a comeback. Whatever happened to Bevo?
  8. Hate to lose games to Dusty "LaRussa" Baker.
  9. Clutch hits? How about any hits? just two -- double by Pods and HR by Getz. The Thome/Rhodes matchup was predictably bad. He's now 2-for-22 against Rhodes with a dozen Ks.
  10. Hawk's son-in-law had an emergency appendectomy last night in northern Indiana. Word is Hawk will be driving to Cincy and be here for the games on Saturday and Sunday.
  11. no printable words for this one. four outs to go with a four-run lead. gotta win games like that. Now watch them go on a roll.
  12. turned it off. can't watch. counting on this thread for info.
  13. Same scenario as last season. Linebrink starts falling apart in June or July. My prediction is he'll be complaining about a sore shoulder soon and head to the DL. unreal.
  14. Amen. We are all frustrated because this team has underachieved in a winnable division. The road trip elevated expectations again, but the homestand has brought them back down. My guess is we are a few weeks away from a 1997 scenario, like the deal that sent Hernandez, Alvarez and Darwin to SF for Foulke, Howry, Caruso, Barcelo and two others. That team, I believe, was less than five games behind Cleveland, but spinning its wheels and Jerry pulled the plug. I wouldn't blame him for doing it again. What we should be discussing is which players need to go because they can bring value and which guys should stay to become the core of moving forward. The constant ripping of Greg Walker, Bartolo and others is tiresome. Folks on this sight are committed fans who know what the problems are. I come here because there is a large group of insightful posters who offer thoughtful solutions.
  15. saw a tweet from Mark Gonzalez saying Quentin probably out until after the All-Star game. This season is OVAH -- not that it was ever underway.
  16. Story in the Birmingham paper that Colon is scheduled for liposuction surgery on Wednesday with Dr. James Andrews.
  17. Let's try to get more than Jon Adkins and Michael Dubee.
  18. need to win two of the next three -- or more. maybe leyland will bring Bonderman back Thursday.
  19. who gets the next knock first? BA or Beckham?
  20. Maybe The Cuban needed Castro as his catcher.
  21. GBeck gets his first knock next inning. Book it.
