  1. Was it just me, or do anybody else come away from the interview with Kenny Williams and Ozzie in the second inning thinking Brian Anderson is going to Charlotte? Sure didn't hear his name mentioned and it sounded like they expect Erstad to get a lot of at bats. considering what Ozzie has already said about Anderson needing to go to the minors if he isn't the everyday CF, he's a dead man.
  2. If Erstad and ARow are similar players in terms of makeup and we already have Erstad at a quarter of the cost of Rowand, why do we need Rowand? If Erstad is truly healthy (which he seems to be) and motivated (which he certainly is) he's a better player. He can play more positions. He can steal a base. And he'll get on base more often. that's plenty of grinding for this club.
  3. comparisons with Buehrle are invalid. Mark was younger, moved faster through the system and had more success in the lower levels. plus, he can throw more pitches somebody will eventually give Phillips a shot because he's left handed. I'm surprised he still had options.
  4. my guess === velocity, or the lack of it. He doesn't even throw as hard as Buehrle. They project Danks, Gio and others as better big-league left-handed prospects. I like the guy because he throws strikes and pitched pretty well in a hitters park last season. But ... the Sox have never seemed to be in love with him.
  5. forget about trading for Rowand. Here's my idea: Gavin Floyd and David Aardsma for Freddy Garcia. This is awful.
  6. suddenly the Cubs are no longer talking about Cotts being their fifth starter. And aardsma has sent his jersey size numbers to the clubhouse guy in Charlotte.
  7. i'm for bringing ARow back. I'm not for overpaying Pat Gillick to get him.
  8. A. trade for Sandy Alomar. B. trade for Griffey Je. C. trade for ARod Actually , I just read a story in the Tribune that suggests some kind of package to the Phillies for Rowand and Lieber. One package was a bullpen arm, Mack and somebody else. The other involved either Crede or Fields.
  9. Danks and Gio have been better than Floyd, but there are three-plus weeks to go.
  10. All this talk about Buehrle ... wonder what Garland thinks of this deal. isn't he outta here after 2008?
  11. Free Heath Phillips!!!!! Why don't the Sox like this guy more? He looks overweight and does not light up the gun, but he is a strike throwing machine.
  12. pretty sure hawk confirmed it by announcing it on the telecast, via the Sox PR department.
  13. he basically took the deal Buehrle turned down, right? savvy move by the Sox. Get Javy below market value (even though the market is obscene), and they make Buehrle look a bit greedy. that's how it looks from here.
  14. considering his past arm/elbow troubles and how hard he throws, this is probably going to remain a concern.
  15. Wasn't today the day Jenks was supposed to throw in a B-game? Has anybody heard if he did throw without any problems? Need to hear good news that Jenks is OK.
  16. BMac calls ozzie to clear the air. the kid takes the high road. that's all I need to know. going to end ugly one day for ozzie. I have no doubt about that.
  17. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 07:26 PM) thats home many hits hes gonna have this year. 44 was pushing it. if that's the case, he should have gone with 17.
  18. Between Ozzie and Kenny Williams, we lead the league in unnecessary comments bashing our own players -- current and ex. What purpose does it serve?
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) What number will Sandy Alomar Jr. wear when he's our manager in 2008? I think you're on to something. and I like the idea.
  20. hard to believe Anderson and McCarthy would be the only two party boys on the team. maybe at home, but not on the road.
  21. By the way, are these FRESH comments by McCarthy -- or stuff he said after the trade?
  22. pretty stupid comment by ozzie. Why would you say that about a guy who is supposed to be your starting center fielder?
  23. just saw a picture of BA and he's wearing 32, not 44. Saw he was also listed as 32 on the sox roster. the new 44 is Toby Hall. Anybody know the story? BA just waiting on Hermie to leave to pounce on that number. Can't hurt.
  24. A big confused: Did Vaz start the game against Arizona and then get relieved by Broadway? And it was Phillips relieved by Haeger against Colorado? Which game is actually on the radio?
