2011 ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs. Texas Rangers Thread
Cali replied to Milkman delivers's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) I love Nelson Cruz. Couldn't have hit that blast off a nicer guy It would be perfect for Texas to come out and take the series vs. Verlander. The chances of him getting rocked aren't great, though he hasn't been as dominant in October, seeing him give up 4-5 runs in a loss would be phenomenal... -

Why even pitch to Cabrera at that point? Load the bases for the guy who's injured and might be in horrible pain with every swing and take your chances with two outs. You can't let their best player beat you... -

If the Rangers wanted to be hardcore sticklers could they complain about the pine tar on V-Mart's jersey? Seems like there's always some weird uniform rules no one knows about (especially in the MLB) Maybe something like no foreign substances? Mainly to f*** with them I guess haha -

So if the Rangers win tonight, and Verlander still doesn't start Game 4, I want some Jay Cutler like scrutiny placed on him. Cause it seems like his routine and strict regiment is the reason why Leyland is sticking to his Verlander is pitching game 5 and only Game 5. Verlander needs to step it up, it's the post-season if he doesn't demand to start he's a p****.... -

Can't wait to read Kenny's autobiography some years down the line after Jerry has passed on and Kenny is out of baseball to find out what REALLY happened in the 2011 off-season because nothing is at all what it seems. Something is fishy and when Robin quits or is fire in 2 years time that will only confirm it.

Even with the Rain, Verlander hasn't looked very Cy in October... -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) I've said it before, but as much as I'd like to root for the Brewers, I feel like they would become unbearable and full of themselves if they won. Right up until Prince signs with the Cubs (or really anyone, that'll kill any bragging rights really. Losing a superstar player) -

I think this goes 7 with the Rangers offense just being too much for Detroit even with Verlander (he wasn't even lights out against a Yankee offense, which pales in comparison to Texas' I think) -
I've calmed down a bit, but I plan on having a s***-fit once it's announced who hired Martinez (probably the Red Sox, ugh)

For those looking for a positive spin, just look up the synopsis for the movie Mr. Holland's Opus. And every time Mr. Holland comes up replace it with Robin. Cause you see, Mr. Holland never wanted to teach, but in the end he loved his job....and the kids, they wound up teaching HIM. So it might all work out with Robin...

QUOTE (Real @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 11:17 PM) the outrage is that he was hired, without anyone else even given the opportunity of an interview, the outrage is that there were highly praised, better qualified options available and none of them were even an afterthought unless Ventura declined Kenny's offer this was Kenny getting his yes-man, and he couldn't have that with LaRussa, Francona, Martinez, or Alomar. that's all this is, and thus outrage So much the truth right here. Anyone know of any early reports on the 2013 Draft cause I'm seeing 90+ losses next season...
-
I wonder if J4L had a rage stroke at the news....
-
Man, I regret backing Kenny over Ozzie now. After this debacle of a "process" to hire a new manager, they should have both been gone...
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 05:12 PM) Apparently the Sox didn't contact Alomar or Francona at all about the managerial opening. Absolutely disgusting, if true. Any one else get the feeling the rest of the league is laughing at the White Sox right now?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) Damn straight. s***, it's my fault really. I expected something different from this organization. I shouldn't have gotten excited about Martinez. Of course they were gonna hire someone completely out of the blue... This is The White Flag Hiring. We will look back on it and know it years from know... The White Sox have given up on three things: Spending money to hire someone. Hiring someone out of organization. And, giving any indication to the fan base that they will at all be in contention for the next 3+ years
-
The 2011 off-season balloon has already deflated for me with this hiring.
-
God, neither Kenny and Robin sound confident at all right now. There's something more going on here... I just got that feeling. This can't be what either party wanted and it shows...
-
I think Kenny wanted Martinez, but Jerry set a price and Robin was the only candidate to fit in the price range...
-
Robin really isn't inspiring me with this presser. He seems just as surprised as all of us...
