KW said Ventura has a bench coach in mind. Sox will have to seek permission to talk to whoever it is.
I like that. Means it won't be all organizational people...
This move smacks of "We know the team is gonna stink next year cause we're rebuilding, so here's an old player, please come out to the park, pretty please?"
I hope Robin leads them to 100 wins, I really do. My biggest issue is that there were far more qualified candidates out there that seemingly didn't get ANY CHANCE to get the job. KW and JR went with the easiest, and most importantly cheapest option, and I find that insulting to me as a fan. Instead of hiring someone who can change the culture of this team and organization we're given and ex-player to appease fan who care more about nostalgia than actual winning.
White Sox Baseball: Remember the 90's? Cause that's all we're hiring....
When I go to a concert, I love hearing the greatest hits. When I watch White Sox baseball, I want a manager with experience in modern coaching with statistical analysis and not managing my one's gut...
What I want to know, in this time of modern technology, "sources" everywhere with access to anything... HOW DID EVERYONE MISS THIS?!?!
EVERYONE, EVERYONE!!!! had Martinez as the top Candidate. Ventura was never even mentioned once.
If Dave Martinez, Terry Francona, Ryne Sandberg, Sandy Alomar, Bobby Valentine, Bob Brenly, and Tony LaRussa were some how all wiped out of existence I would STILL be mad about this choice.
Are you f***ing KIDDING ME?!?! Did Dave Martinez punch Kenny in the face during the interview? Did he even GET an interview????
I was so excited once Ozzie was gone... now I'm FURIOUS!
It's weird seeing "Davey" written in articles... I've only ever heard him called "Dave", maybe in his playing days? I wasn't really aware of him back then if so...

Never in a million years will I understand why the Yanks and Red Sox didn't go all out to get Danks.
Maybe they did, but Kenny was in a thick haze of the "Illusion of Contention" smoke.... it was a harsh toke that day....
I also think Alomar really wants to stay in Cleveland. The ties are closer there, he might have a chance to manage them a few years down the road if he stays in the organization.
