  1. I complained about the lack of excitement this off-season and hoping that the Winter Meetings would ramp it up a bit. So far the biggest story has been the Santos trade and that was hardly a blockbuster. No crazy trades, None of the Big 4 Free Agents signed (Pujols/Fielder/Buehrle/Wilson) Come on baseball!
  2. The lack of updates from the Sox end is a bit disheartening. I mean, Kenny showed his hand with the Santos trade...
  3. 17 years old with those walk numbers? BUST!
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) And KW is apparently trying to make my other post talking about the trades look completely false. At the moment Buehrle is gone and Danks and Floyd are beginning to look like deadline trades. I don't trust KW's judgement on deadline deals after last years debacle... Though I think there's no chance the team will be anywhere near the top of the division come July 31st so the decision will made for him. Hopefully there are some desperate teams willing to pay for pitching.
  5. So KW not showing up until late tomorrow... That'll be a boring Monday on the trade front. It's like a rainout on opening day haha
  6. If there's not a Sox trade one minute after the meetings start... I'm gonna lose my s***. Seriously though, there's no reason the White Sox shouldn't have a flurry of activity next week, but every reason there will only be tweaks, and KW banking on the whole "It can't get much worse than 2011" theory (even though it can get SO MUCH worse)
  7. It would be Classic White Sox if JorDanks caught on with another team and flourished...
  8. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 11:10 AM) They hired a psychologist for the team last year. How'd that go? Hire a better one?
  9. He's so mentally fragile when it comes to hitting, unless the Sox hire a sports psychologist for him I don't see him doing a whole lot in a Sox uniform.
  10. Fun Fact: Just got a kitten recently and named it Gozer
  11. So is he the Special Assistant GM or the Special Assistant to the GM?
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) Agreed! Kinda sad at the same time
  13. Wow. This is probably the best news all off-season so far.
  14. Nice! Daniel Plainview's my first to show up... Glad to see others agreed.
  15. Sucks that there wasn't time for a December list cause I thought of a good list idea that I don't think we've done: Best Portrayals of Santa Claus in film/TV
  16. I'm prepared for the Buehrle era to be over. It's time. He's getting too much interest not to get offered a s***-ton of money that the Sox can only match by having Jerry step in and authorize big time money that the team honestly can't afford right now. The Sox are not going to compete next season and Jerry needs to realize that. having Mark around with an awful team behind him is just appeasing the fans with popular players instead of wins. The right choice needs to be made.
  17. What a boring off-season league round so far... Hopefully picks up with the winter meetings around the corner...
  18. Hey Miami, THIS is how you do new (old?) uniforms... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_leagu...urn=mlb-wp27218 Love these...
  19. So the prospect seems to be a catcher with strong offensive skills and lacking behind the plate. I'm so sick of having catchers like that. I want the reverse of that. I want a guy who has a cannon and accurate throwing arm and can block anything in the dirt, but won't crack .250 on a good year. I don't want a great offensive build your team around the guy type catcher. It's stupid to have that (see Posey, Buster and Mauer, Joe for details on why) I would kill for a Kurt Suzuki-type behind the plate. Or Suzuki himself...
  20. Basically on a scale of 1-10 how excited are you for the 2012 Season as of right now. I'll do another one after the winter meetings... Right now for me: 2.5 And it PAINS me to be only that excited. It stays out of zero country because I really love baseball and it's hard for me to not be at least a little excited, but the joke of a managerial search dampened the hell out of me, and the final choice of Robin Ventura (and subsequent interviews with him and Kenny) was completely uninspiring. I'm hoping the team isn't planning a campaign based on "There's no way everyone who sucked in 2011 can all suck again in 2012" but that's looking to be the case. Selling off some pieces in a few week would actually help my excitement level for this team, since I don't think they're going anywhere next season in the first place. It does get those few ticks higher than just a 1 because I do want to see a full season of De Aza, Viciedo, and Reed. And see if Morel can take that strong finish into 2012, as well as see if a different hitting coach can get Gordo's head out of his own ass. Oh, and a full season of Santos closing. But that number will need to grow past about 6.5 for me actually spend money on the baseball package next year. If not, I'll just follow the above people in box scores on through the site haha.
  21. I get this feeling when Buehrle signs elsewhere its gonna be for a ridiculous contract the Sox would have never offered or could match.
  22. Seems a little later than usual no? I seemed to remember pitchers & catchers reporting around Valentine's Day in recent years...
  23. So weird that the Sox could potentially be playing a team they beat in the World Series only 8 years earlier, every season...
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) Is there a picture in the above post that's just not loading? Otherwise, I don't get what you're saying. It's an admittedly obscure Arrested Development joke. I was sure very few if anyone would pick up on it...
