  1. Both them and Refused are back and playing Coachella this year. That's insane...
  2. Are we really talking about Bore-sketball now in a Sox thread? So that means the trades probably not happening haha

    2012 TV Thread

I've grown increasingly bored with Modern Family this season. That first season was nothing short of brilliant, but the second season was a total letdown for me. It didn't pop the same way season one had and now into the third season it just seems like going through the motions. Claire is a shrew of a wife, Phil is an idiot with a heart of gold, Cam & Mitchell do stock cliche gay story line #475 etc. The show was never really reinventing the wheel, but creatively the stories and jokes were done better in season one.
  4. So, not any form of this deal is happening we can assume now?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) There's a part of me that thinks it's a big mistake for Kenny to not try and get a catching prospect in some of these trades. Of course, he'll probably just sign Suzuki next offseason and we'll have to hear Hawk rave about him 162 games a year. I'd LOVE to have Suzuki behind the dish for the Sox. Hawk loving aside.
  6. Deck McGuire sounds like a fake name. It also sounds like the bully or star QB love interest from an 80's high school movie.
  7. So the White Sox are considered a joke to fans of a team that's been 100% irrelevant in the baseball world for 25 years? Oh No!
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) Can't be worse than last year. That should NEVER be the philosophy of a sport organization that wants to win. But, apparently that seems to be the one Kenny is going with.
  9. Baseball is such a funny sport. You can have a MAJOR flaw in your game, like control issues as a pitcher -- which I'd say is the ONE thing most pitchers need to have to make it -- and still get drafted. Can you imagine a QB that overthrew his receivers all the time getting picked?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 07:18 PM) Like it or not, Rios has to play next year. That's the only thing we can do. The one thing I'll never understand and mind you, I'm an IDIOT when it comes to baseball as a business and finances -- but if the Sox were willing to pay Rios his full salary while "benched" (for that lovely 5 minutes period in 2011) why not just release the guy and pay him? For a team worth hundreds of millions, what's the difference really if you're adding another $450,000 (or so) for a minor leaguer to take Rios spot on the roster? If you're sick of the player and think there's no more production left in him and you're going to have to pay the man anyway who cares? Any dream trade where the Sox get rid of Rios would entail picking up most of his contract anyway
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) Viciedo had an injured hand last year. I'm pretty sure he's had slow April's every season with the Sox. I'd just expect it to continue with the big club and cold weather in April
  12. I'll say this again when we get closer to the season, but BANK on Dayan having an awful April. It's been a theme for both him and Alexei. Cuban players that are too damn cold to hit the ball in April. So lay off him.... I fully expect him to heat up in the summer time. That being said, I'm excited to see the Tank in a full season.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) He'll be traded by the deadline And get a better haul than KW just did haha
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) This wasn't rebuilding, it was a salary dump. Everyone around the majors seems to be getting tons in return when they trade away veteran players except the Sox. Word. It's so frustrating.
  15. I'll play, but really MAYBE one of mine will make any kind of consensus list haha
  16. I think the most likely scenario is we're "All In 2K12!". Stewart still gets the spot in the rotation, has a Danks like 2007 kind of year, but by the time his numbers are getting out of control, so will the Sox season (ala 2007) and they just leave him in to get his innings anyway...
  17. When 92 mph straight fastballs are being put into right field and not being missed by three feet and into the catcher's glove we'll talk...
  18. Must suck to be an A's fan. Even if you get the 4 best prospects from another team, in a few years once those guys make it to the bigs and produce, they'll be on their way out the door for more prospects... They should have won the Series in 2001 and/or 2002.... Bummer
  19. In a year or two, this is gonna be the one move Kenny makes that we'll look back on to judge the state of the team. It's either gonna be real dumb (unfortunately my guess) or real savvy...
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) I think all you have to do is be a regular player for a Sox playoff team, and your legend will never die. or Manager
  21. What friggin direction is this team going in? I'd love to complain more , but I honestly have no confidence in KW getting a good deal for Danks anyway. And if this deal is true and it is HUGE like suggested, I'm weary because as someone mentioned earlier, Danks hasn't been the best. He had one really good season and mostly mediocre to average seasons since.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 02:06 PM) I won't. As long as there's a new direction and a long-term plan. If the '12 motto is, "Our guys that sucked last year can't possibly suck as bad this year," yes, I will raise hell. That is my nightmare for next year. That is a HORRIBLE way to conduct business for any business, but especially competitive sports. But, each passing day it seems like that's the plan Kenny is banking on. (Which makes the Santos trade even more of a scratcher if no more selling is coming) I've learned from last year, it can get SO MUCH WORSE.
  23. I honestly don't think Kenny has the ability to just rob another GM for prospects. It's either gonna be a break even kinda trade or a loss...
