NEWS: The White Sox have agreed to terms with free agent left-handed pitchers Donnie Veal and Jose Quintana.

Veal, 27, combined to go 0-2 with a 4.22 ERA (15 ER/32.0 IP) and 31 strikeouts in 19 appearances (five starts) between Class A Bradenton, Class AA Altoona, Class AAA Indianapolis and Rookie Gulf Coast League Pirates in 2011. He did not pitch until May 22 while recovering from Tommy John surgery performed on June 4, 2010.

Quintana, 22, spent the entire 2011 season with Class A Tampa in the Yankees farm system, going 10-2 with a 2.91 ERA (33 ER/102.0 IP), one save and 88 strikeouts in 30 appearances (14 starts). He limited opponents to a .236 (86-364) average and was 6-1 with a 2.83 ERA (20 ER/63.2 IP) as a starter.

HOLY f***ING s***!

A Veal Quintana does sound like something I'd try at a fancy Mexican Restaurant.

Damn, you beat me to it.

The remaining 29 have forfeited the 2012 season because whats the point?

Steve Stone loves Donnie Veal, I am not joking

These are 40-man roster guys too. They are at 34.

Yeah, Steve Stone got this man signed.

yes

So whats the deal with Quintana, he looks like he could be something and is only 22...

Too many walks or something?

His walk rate was 2.5/9.

Um, was he in the minors too long? He signed with the Mets at 17...

10 posts and no "Cooper will fix 'em" yet? I'm impressed.

I'll make the first All in for 2012 post

That is a great question. Yankees fans sure seemed to like him. This link has some fan chatter, including his stuff.

Veal seems meh, but this Quintana guy seems.......somewhat legit.

I'm really perplexed by Quintana.

Kenny finally got his man... We drafted Veal in like 2003 or sometime way back then, but he went to college.

I'm just confused by why the Yankees would just let him go. He will be 23 when the season starts, and probably be assigned to Birmingham. That's an appropriate age, and his numbers have been good. I wonder if he is just a terrible teammate or something? Off the field issues?

Veal

Her?

Is there a picture in the above post that's just not loading? Otherwise, I don't get what you're saying.

It's an admittedly obscure Arrested Development joke. I was sure very few if anyone would pick up on it...
