  1. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) I'm moving to California in 3 weeks! The state will have 1 more Sox fan then. Woot! SoCal? NorCal?
  2. I like this losing streak... get a better draft position if this keeps up. Also, make Ozzie look worse
  3. The odds of me watching the Sox next season if Ozzie is back: 5-95
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Bob Nightengale says Ozzie's back if he wants to return. PUKE. if thats the truth "I GAWN!"

    2011 Music Thread

QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) There's a HUGE difference between being inspired by something and creating an original sound. Just because someone is inspired by something doesn't mean that they need to make a sound that's nearly identical. Personally, the ability to set yourself apart and create a unique sound is incredibly important. I get tired of bands sounding alike. It's boring. Anyone can pick up a guitar, play three chords over and over again and sound like any new Green Day song. I'd much rather listen to a band that at least puts forth the effort to sound different. Mostly for these reasons, I'm not a fan of pop music or the radio, and I realize it's just me, but listening to the same general thing over and over again gets old quick. I don't listen to pop or mainstream rock radio at all, and I find plenty of bands that I enjoy the s*** out of. I don't concern myself with unique sounds or originality, whatever makes me interested musically or lyrically, I'll listen to. It's just a personal thing. In fact I don't think I could say I've ever listened to anything I would call 100% original. Everything I listen to sounds at least a little like something else. And I don't mind at all...
  6. Fine, make the trade on September 29th haha. Whatever, just get him away from this franchise....

    2011 Music Thread

QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:00 AM) I can agree with that point to a large degree. It gets tougher as time goes on to create something truly original without stepping way outside the established templates of music, and when someone does step outside those templates, it's often not received well because it's outside of people's comfort zones. Personally, I'm okay with someone "painting within the established lines" if the energy and the melody is there. I don't need them to reinvent the wheel, I just need to like the wheel they've made. A few unique twists and turns are nice, but not necessary, at least for me. Totally agree. "Originality" in music is almost impossible, based on the fact that for anyone musician to pick up a guitar or write lyrics they are usually inspired by OTHER music to do so. Whatever influences them as an artist will more than likely show up in the music they write and perform.
  8. Why wait till the end of the season? Just fire him now. Let the players each take a game to manage, hell, let Hermy manage one game, who cares at this point? Seriously though, there shouldn't even be a gap between the end of the season and the Division Series. That pink slip should be delivered September 29th.
  9. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 07:35 AM) Remember when last year nearly everyone here at ST were raving about how the Twins were in great position to keep dominating the AL Central? That was funny... There's an outside chance they could lose 100 games this season, they're at 89 right now with 14 games to go. Still an outside chance but maybe...They've lost 9 in a row a few times this season.
  10. That decision would take about a split second. Goodbye Ozzie and Mark, who, until this season has been average since 2005 and mediocre since his perfect game + in my eyes...
  11. I was not a believer in the Tigers at all, but they have really picked the right time to get hot. Runs like this can easily propel them into the Series... I won't like it at all, but you'd have to give it to them.
  12. Glad the Sox are playing in LA... I just wished it was in San Diego more. Nicer city, way nicer stadium, less chance of being beaten into a coma...
  13. My nightmare scenario for the off-season is KW stays, Ozzie gets a 3-year extension including everyone in his staff except for Cooper who bolts for the Yanks or Sawx, Addison Reed is dumped for an older bullpen player, Viciedo is including in a "Kenny Blockbuster" trade for a veteran/injured player looking for comeback/guy who's had a few mediocre seasons and need a change of scenery when we could have offered way less, Kenny misses out on a player that another team gets for way less... All the while we watch the Tigers and Indians get better in the winter.
  14. Good match. Rafa just emptied the tank on that third set and had nothing left in the fourth.
  15. Hawk's schtick is just too much for me after 20+ years...
  16. I don't watch a whole lot of Tennis, I usually just get wrapped up in the Quarter/Semi's of the Majors, but that Federer/Djokovic match was the best one I've ever watched. Also, in watching the Wozniacki/Williams match, three things: 1. I really do not like either of the Williams sisters. Or their father. 2. How is Wozniacki #1?? The few times I've seen her she just loses. 3. And maybe this is just me, but I find Men's Tennis FAR superior.
  17. I gotta say I'm a big fan of Josh Lewin. I know in a million years Hawk wont be fired, but 'd love him as the play by play man in Chicago.
  18. The Rays pitchers are f***ing complete game machines...
  19. Let George Costanza know the results of the finding...
  20. if I had to name one reason I'm not rooting for Detroit in the playoffs it's last name is Valverde , it's first name is Jose, and yes, you guessed it...it's a real piece of s***.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) "hitting tips"? I think he said swing for the fences haha
  22. Wow, I didn't realize Asdrubal Cabrera's numbers had dropped so much. he was a world beater the whole first half of the season. I would love to see what his numbers had been since Orlando Cabrera was traded. Wasn't he credited for giving him hitting tips earlier in the year?
  23. If there was ever a candidate in baseball to sign a huge contract and then get injured the next year it's Jose Reyes. No matter what team he signed with. He's gonna be like Adrian Beltre, but instead of sucking after having a career year and getting paid, he'll just be on the DL most of the time..
  24. De Aza deserves a shot next season for sure. Unless there's some trades in the off-season I want him penciled in leading off... He's been very impressive in his short time this season...
