I don't think either Wild Card team is gonna go far in the playoffs. Whoever it is, will be spent and none of the 4 (except for the Rays, though not looking good for them) have pitching issues.... Kenny should have some texts and e-mails to Martinez saved as drafts ready to hit send once the Rays get eliminated...

Import Issue: What happen's with the #13 for the White Sox? Does it get the JaMarcus Russell toxic treatment where no one gets to wear it? Or is it given away right away as a slap in the face? I know greg's answer, but retiring it right away was not one of the options I gave haha

My only issue with Francona is most Red Sox fans I now think the team succeeded in spite of him all these years. The insulting nickname of "Francoma" just gives me shades of Jerry Manuel... No thanks.

One of my biggest concerns is if the Rays catch the Red Sox and Francona is fired, Boston might go after Martinez, and they'd easily pay more for him than the White Sox and could offer a team kind of already built for success.

I hope the Ozzie hiring won't spurn KW away from going young with the managerial position. What the Sox don't need right now is an old school veteran guy like a Buddy Bell or Bobby Valentine or LaRussa (whom I dont have as much of an issue with as most, but still would prefer Martinez) Especially if the team goes into rebuild mode. A guy like Martinez, especially with this seasons Rays roster, would really be a perfect fit to grow with the players into a contender in a few years.
