A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) We should blow it up. Season is lost. The white sox analyst were wondering what is wrong with Abreau... Garfien and co were talking about it after the game. It's way too early to panic but I don't ever recall him looking this bad.

He is really struggling at the moment with his discipline.

The Offense
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) So wait, if we don't score more runs, we won't win much? That is a limb to go out on. I'm saying I don't see a much different overall team than last year... better defense and pitching so far - but he same bad offense. The "obvious statement" I made above we were lamenting all year last year. It's still an issue.

The Offense
If we don't start scoring (which we never really did last year) then we will keep falling towards 500 and eventually be under it.

Erik Johnson called up, Shuck sent to AAA
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Problem is folks don't want to hear the truth or logic. If you use the arguments we are hearing about Danks then 3/4 of our line up should be gone already Uhh... while I could agree with Dick that Danks is likely to see more starts. Comparing Sale having a couple bad outings... to Danks having a couple bad outings is not the same thing (the rest of their body of work is vastly different) So yeah Michael Jordan has a couple of bad games... I'm likely to give him more leeway. Some other much less talented player, with much less history of production doesn't automatically get the same buffer for bad play. So yeah, while I agree with Dick in one sense... the example was flawed.

I wonder if he will be starting in Danks place.

The Offense
What's amusing... and it can be found in many places in life -but message boards are great for seeing this in action. Optimism somehow equates to rational thought (this is why pyramid scams work- by catering to this false logic). Rational thought exists in pessimism and optimism - but most importantly in realism. Also this "mature" act of belittling those who question or complain is really often nothing more than a passive aggressive act of venting ones own frustration about losing.

The Offense
Just remember though.. it's no ones fault. Just cosmic axioms.

The Offense
Some more offensive fireworks so far tonight.

The Offense
It's really simple... our offense was really bad last year and bad the years before. So far this year it looks like the same (thought it could change). if All of us like our record right now, but what is pretty funny is to think that logic or rational thinking equates that one should expect this record to continue with the same anemic offense of the past few years. That everything is great and the sky is the limit. Many of are basing our doubts on the struggles of the offense that past few years. We have good, logical reason to have concerns.

The Offense
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) I think being home for 7 nights in a row will help. Home cooking. A routine. Hopefully in a few weeks the good players will have respectable numbers and the Sox go 12-8, and be 20-12. eeh hopefully... last year we scored less runs and had less homeruns when we played at home.

Frazier's struggles
Frazier looked really lost out there at the plate.. .however it's way too early to judge him much. However the lineup as a whole certainly is not lathering up anyone with confidence right now.
-
The Offense
What I mean is... we saw this last year. We lost a ton of games giving up 3 or less runs. It's hard to just forget the last few years when you see offense like this the last 3 games... it makes it all come back.
-
The Offense
No offense... guys that swing at everything... no home runs pulling everything. I'm happy with our record... but yeah I have some serious doubts about these bats.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) Now, that was a sh--ty at bat by AJ. Pitcher never threw a strike. I swear we lead the majors in that category the past 4 years... outs recorded without the pitcher actually throwing a strike

Have to try someone else other than danks.

4/16 Game thread: @ Tampa Bay, 5:10pm, WGN/WLS
See a lot of whining about danks... danks (so far) isn't the issue this game

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) Lawrie is one of the few guys pulling their weight at the plate right now. His D has been more than fine. That's not really what I was asking. Is he supposed to be a strong defensive player? His career hitting numbers are not much. What is his strength?
-
4/16 Game thread: @ Tampa Bay, 5:10pm, WGN/WLS
Is Lawrie a good defensive 2nd basemen? I'm confused really... he is a career 260 hitter with not a lot of power...

4/16 Game thread: @ Tampa Bay, 5:10pm, WGN/WLS
Need Abreu to get going... hasn't looked good the last few games. Grounds balls to short stop and strike outs.

Cleveland announcer called that one...

Sale has not been that impressive since early last year. If we are going to compete he has to be dominant and not throwing home runs all over the place.

I love Hawk Harrelson
People who let their personality out in jobs like Harrelson are always going to be hated by some. Just like Dick Vitale, John Madden, Gus Johnson ect. Sure you can be the safe "khaki pants" speaking, which some here seem to prefer. But If I watching a white sox game I prefer "homer" announcers... If I'm looking for a different perspective I'll listen to the royals announcers or Twins announcers on foxsports KC,North, ect. Hawk isn't perfect.. but at least he doesn't take an innately boring game and make it more boring like 90% of the announcers do.

Hahn Confirms: Ventura back for 2016
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) Francona's first 4 years as a manager 68-94 75-87 77-85 65-97 Why would anyone ver give him another job? He got fired after that 4th season and didn't manage again for another 4 years.

Good Company eh?
The white sox historically are not a very successful organization (especially after the deadball era.. 1905 and 1917 championships). There are records to prove this. They aren't the worst... but people having higher expectations than "not the worst" I mean wow are they allowed to?
