When I saw the headline, I immediately thought there was a rumor he was moving. Damn it.
-
I probably would have tried to just get an arm and draft pick. Draft pick + one of their arms. Lot of value in the pick. And agree, they won’t get offered more in July than what’s out there now.
-
For whatever it’s worth
-
I pointed it out at one point that it looks like he’s a “vibes guy.” Like plays to the level of the talent around him. I just don’t think he’ll get more at the deadline/possibly may not even be available due to injury.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026

Plus, I don’t think you draft a guy wondering if you’re going to be able to extend him almost a decade later or not. -
Kinda wish we would have gambled on him at that price. Also would have taken an option off the board for Cincy. I can’t wait until Robert leaves via free agency and get nothing for him.

They have Marte in RF who’s a lock to play every day and Friedl and Bleday in other spots so they might be fine there with someone to platoon with. Unless they do move Steer and move Marte back to the IF (1B)

Yeah that’s why I mentioned him -
In May, you could potentially see an OF of (if he isn’t moved): LF Benintendi (he’s paid a lot, he’s here. He’s going to play) CF Robert (again, if not moved) RF Montgomery Not really room for another every day OF
-
Do the Reds still need help in the OF?

6+ years of control is still good. They did draft Rodon. -
I have. Almost like 10 years ago when Sox where there and then just like 3-4 when they were back.
-
Speaking of Opening Day, anyone going to the actual season opener in Milwaukee? I kinda want to go to that instead of the home opener. But I’ll be on 6-week paternity leave starting early March when my wife goes back to work so i probably won’t go to either game.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread

No thanks -
Merry Christmas

I don’t mind if we have another draft pick and another prospect or two.
-
If he were making $5M, it would be easier to deal him. If they flat out just didn’t want to pay him, they wouldn’t have picked up the option.
-
God I hope it is. Give me one of the starters talked about, the comp pick and an OF prospect. Prob an overpay for how he’s currently viewed but I want it lol
-
Yeah weird that the Rays couldn’t move him
-
As a buy low. I wouldn’t want my team giving up much.
-
I don’t blame them. I wouldn’t be that excited either.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread

Worth mentioning that the 2 TJ surgery guys from the Reds (not saying I want them necessarily but since they’ve been talked about) had their surgeries in September and October 2024 so they should be good to go in Spring Training even assuming 14-month recovery. As for White Sox TJ surgeries, Bush and Thorpe had theirs Feb and March 25 so they may be 60-day IL guys to open the year (open 40-man spots), depending on their progress. I haven’t seen any updates on either in a while but just tossing that out there. -

I agree with moving him now instead of waiting so that’s good to hear. -

Have you heard anything from your sources about Robert? Besides the stuff that’s been reported on the last couple of days. -
Per Passan: White Sox sign Munetaka Murakami 2 years 34M

I think O’Hearn will be better than whatever internal options the Pirates have but I think I would prefer taking a gamble on Okamoto.
