  1. If he’s having a good year and a trading team only takes on 2 months of salary, I doubt Sox would have to much, if any, cash.
  2. You continue to say this without having any knowledge these guys were even available. It's kinda nauseating.
  3. Yeah, I think you just keep him and hope to either trade him or release (trade/release depending on how he’s playing) him mid-season if Ramos is playing well. But if they did something shocking like eating half his salary and dumping him this off-season, I wouldn’t be mad either.
  4. I have no problem with anything he said. Very hard team to like.
  5. Alright someone else then. DeJong at 2B, Crawford at SS. (I’ll admit, Frazier was just added there as cheap, left-handed stop gap coming off a 1.7 WAR season, better than Whit).
  6. I'll be honest, if they're going to have bring in a decent amount of free agents, please prioritize defense/athleticism and pitching. At least play sound fundamental baseball and pitch well. Playing good defense and having good pitching with little hitting is at least better than being poor in every aspect of the game. Go sign DeJong, Adam Frazier, Kiermaier in a platoon in RF, Austin Hedges and 3 mid-rotation type arms. Sign like 3 relievers to one year deals.
  7. I feel Giolito is definitely signing a deal like that. 1 year deal with a player option for 2025.
  8. I keep trying to think of how I would build the roster but whichever way I go kinda depends on what they think of Sosa and Colas. Like if they want to start either/both on the roster and just let them play or not. My prediction is they may not be high on either and may just sign a stop gap at both 2B (Adam Frazier) and SS (DeJong) (until Montgomery is MLB ready at SS).
  9. Yeah free agency isn't very deep. Not a lot of top talent players available.
  10. Ha I would wager highly that they add both Whit and Salvy.
  11. They did a farewell video?
  12. Honestly, spend on 3 mid-rotation pitchers, sign a few relievers to one year deals, and then just sign defensive players around the rest of the field. Pitch and field well.
  13. Do we know about any negative off the field stories for other players?
  14. Wow, that $40M number is great than half the biggest free agent signing the Sox ever made, ha.
  15. For me, it's more that they were already here and if even half of the reports on the negative vibe of the clubhouse is true, I just don't see why either would want to come back (assuming offers were close). Giolito might as well go home to LA and work with their pitching to see if he can parlay that into a big deal next year.
  16. Yeah I don't see any path where TA or even Gio comes back next year.
  17. This was just a reactionary post. Of course he would never pick the Cubs over the Sox.
  18. Very true. This is just opening old wounds from times they should have launched or gone with better managers when they were available. Counsell coming here makes no sense for Counsell (unless they are significantly overpaying).
  19. I think so too. Great personality and former MLB catcher.
  20. Yep most likely.
  21. I would have rather given Vogt a shot too.
  22. If Getz wanted to whip his sack on the table at the gm meetings, he would have fired Grifol and hired Counsell.
  23. I would turn that Giolito "club option" into a player option. I would guess he's looking at a deal similar to Rodon (1 year, 1 year player option) to leave for a better deal if he pitches great after 1 season.
