  1. Wow, that $40M number is great than half the biggest free agent signing the Sox ever made, ha.
  2. For me, it's more that they were already here and if even half of the reports on the negative vibe of the clubhouse is true, I just don't see why either would want to come back (assuming offers were close). Giolito might as well go home to LA and work with their pitching to see if he can parlay that into a big deal next year.
  3. Yeah I don't see any path where TA or even Gio comes back next year.
  4. This was just a reactionary post. Of course he would never pick the Cubs over the Sox.
  5. Very true. This is just opening old wounds from times they should have launched or gone with better managers when they were available. Counsell coming here makes no sense for Counsell (unless they are significantly overpaying).
  6. I think so too. Great personality and former MLB catcher.
  7. Yep most likely.
  8. I would have rather given Vogt a shot too.
  9. If Getz wanted to whip his sack on the table at the gm meetings, he would have fired Grifol and hired Counsell.
  10. I would turn that Giolito "club option" into a player option. I would guess he's looking at a deal similar to Rodon (1 year, 1 year player option) to leave for a better deal if he pitches great after 1 season.
  11. Please no more overpaying for relievers/closers, especially if it isn't the *only* missing piece.
  12. Yeah, I don't think they will spend to the same amount they have the last 2 years.
  13. Later in year maybe.
  14. Yeah I would bet against the budget being what they spent in the 2023 team.
  15. Thinking about this more, I feel like they didn’t want to gamble on both TA and Moncada being productive players and took the opportunity to get out of some potential bad money. Still hoping Moncada gets moved though.
  16. Yeah, he’s not coming back
  17. Just bring a positive defensive player. If you bring back TA for cheaper, move him to 2B.
  18. Because KW, correct.
  19. I’ll toss another name in the ring: Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
  20. Yeah I’m ok with him coming up at some point but I’m not penciling him into the lineup on OD.
  21. Yep. Declining the $15M option on Liam was obvious.
  22. If he can dump Moncada and has to pay half of that salary for next year + half buyout, I don’t care what we get back. Just do it.
  23. DeJong, Nicky López, Andrus. Who’s going to be the SS?
