  1. I just don’t think any sort of leave would happen until the season actually starts.
  2. Just checking now, it looks like he has played in parts of 7 seasons so he shouldn't have that amateur label.
  3. But the Padres are out of money ramble ramble ramble!
  4. How old and how much experience do you need to not fall into the amateur spending? Mostly looking at that 25 year old Yuddiel Gonzalez.
  5. I just had this scary thought the other day: is he projected to play in the outfield for the Dominican Republic in the WBC?
  6. Mid-season at least, and the depends on how the team is doing overall.
  7. Yeah I get it. I don’t necessarily “hate it” I just wouldn’t start the 10th. Even 11th would be better.
  8. It should start no earlier than the 13th. Gives teams another turn through the batting order to try to win it the old way.
  9. Ken Giles is holding a showcase this morning. Sox should have interest you would think with Crochet missing some time and Hendriks out for at least most of the season.
  10. There's a difference between a guy with a guaranteed contract and a guy who is going to clear waivers since no one will touch him.
  11. We’re talking about a minor league deal. Things can change between now and Opening Day like someone (Grandal, Zavala) gets hurt. Or someone else opening up at bats at DH.
  12. 2023 White Sox: still firmly seated at the table
  13. “2023 White Sox: hey look! We got rid of Tony!”
  14. I miss when Don Cooper used to blame the fans.
  15. It’s must have been more than just “guys who speak language congregating.”
  16. They needed the spot for Bleier, who they traded the DFA’d Barnes for.
  17. Yeah, I noticed he didn't start any games last year at any level. We still need SP depth.
  18. Over/Under how many of our guys have an injury during the WBC and miss time at the beginning of the season: 1.5
  19. And probably too long of a thread for minor league filler haha In all seriousness though he should get a fair shot in Spring Training (if invited).
  20. I’ve come around to the idea of signing Andrus to about $2M (like you suggest), having him compete for the 2B job in Spring Training and if someone out plays him, he’s your backup MI.
  21. Yeah, too bad Mondou didn't get more of a look in the MLB last year other than his one game sample size.
  22. Not every minor league signing gets invited to camp. Though, I guess with 2B being pretty wide open, he probably will.
  23. He wasn't really a starter. I think he was just a platoon for the Dodgers, as they do that with a lot of spots in their lineups (moving guys around, playing guys against specific handedness, etc). I tend to agree though, he seems pointless unless he was a left-handed hitter who hit better against righties. But he does provide more versatility over Sheets/Burger.
