  1. Pretry sure that's wrong. If they could just outright him, that wouldn't be very different from optioning a player and teams would just hold onto to the fringe guys they always DFA and lose. It wouldn't be different from optioning. He has to clear waivers FIRST before just being outrighted. Otherwise, what's the point of "sneaking through on waivers?" Yhe outright is after he clears waivers.
  2. No ones giving that much for Abreu, dude. Look at the Edwin deal (and that's with Mariners sending cash).
  3. Yes, that was obvious when it was announced he was DFA'd. Hes out of options.
  4. I would think that the trade deadline will be pushed back to August 15th starting next year or year after.
  5. Doesn't sound like this is true. If they were willing to deal Benintendi, they can do better than a struggling reliever.
  6. And TB is interested in them. I was going to suggest these guys when people were talking about the Rays giving up a top 100 prospect for Abreu (something that will not happen).
  7. I'd say the most realistic deal out of those 3 is the Mazara one.
  8. I'm sure it comes into play when they really like 2 players who happen to play the same position but one is the son of former big leaguer.
  9. Didn't look good as in he was in pain from the ankle? Just checking his brief stats, it doesn't look the line of guy who looked bad at the plate.
  10. I think that was Guerrero. He means Stephens was a 40-man casualty that was removed during the season.
  11. With all the injuries this season, these are two guys (the Jordans) who probably would have gotten a call-up if not for their bad year (in Guerrero's case, 2018 as well).
  12. Same. But no better time than the next 2 months. If he ends up getting his shot next year, something went wrong.
  13. Left-handed bat be damned. Let's call him up to DH instead of running Reed out there every day.
  14. He has 2 months of control left. They're not getting a top 100 for him, but it would be dumb to turn an offer down that included one.
  15. You're talking about 2 months though. And Miami and Tampa are not that close to each other to matter.
  16. Doesn't make sense. If you're going to give up a top 100 spect, add more to it and grab someone else with more control and is better. I'll file this under "things that will never happen."
  17. Well the good thing is, they don't have to move Colome since he has the extra year. They aren't going to move him in a desperation move. I feel confident about that. They can stand their ground.
  18. Yeah it's a good gamble as a third piece for sure.
  19. And then Diaz bounces back and grabs 50 saves and an era under 2 next year because Rays.
  20. Nothing is guaranteed. I would bet on them adding 2 SP and easing/building Kopech back in the minors. It'll be about 18 months since he pitched in a game. He ain't opening the year in the majors.
  21. I was thinking about that too. If they think they can compete next year, you're subbing out Stroman for Syndergaard which is a downgrade (granted this year Stroman is better and it sure does seem like Syndergaard misses time every year) but you probably get better prospects back than what you gave up for Stroman so you are improving your farm. And they could always sell off pieces next year if they want. But in my opinion, they should tear it down.
  22. At this point in the year with this team, eating innings isn't that important as rosters will expand and bullpens will be over 10 guys deep for the final month. Plenty of long relievers will be in the pen. Just something else to consider.
