  1. Especially if they can unload some of their own dead money in the process.
  2. Yeah i see an almost 0% chance Abreu is dealt.
  3. Interesting note in there about the Yanks having interest in Profar before he was traded. Though I guess it's possible they could have signed Machado, dealt Andujar, play Machado at 3B, Gleyber at SS, and Profar at 2B.
  4. That's true it would be more spread out as opposed to just over a couple years.
  5. To be honest, I can't even name a starting OF on the Giants off the top of my head. Also, they could always flip Schwarber to a team like the Rays or Astros.
  6. Yeah that angle makes sense (prevent him from going to LA). And Heyward's defense would be more valuable there in a bigger home ballpark.
  7. Won't be from the Angels. Lucroy signed a one year deal a little bit ago.
  8. That'd be amazing (if the Sox miss out on Machado). I'd do that in a heartbeat haha
  9. Yeah. It would pretty much signal to never have hope in landing a huge free agent, unless one happens to be from the area and was a huge fan growing up.
  10. Yep. Getting Harper (or Machado for that matter) isn't about winning next year. It's about the long-term outlook.
  11. Outside of making trades, there's not really any moves the Sox can make to be good for next year. With or without Harper, we're still likely looking at a bad year. The Sox can afford to wait (though, I'm not sure many of the fans can lol).
  12. Agreed. He's not saying he knows anything. Just laying out facts.
  13. Wrong would be saying that he signed a contract extension only for him not to. It's like when jump on people reporting that 2 teams are discussing a trade for Player A, only for Player A to get dealt somewhere else. Everyone says the report is wrong just because the trade didn't happen. Is the report wrong? No. Player A just got traded somewhere else. So that's not a very good example of being "wrong."
  14. It does seem like a negotiation tactic to get the Sox and Phillies to up their offers. But also wouldn't be shocked if it ended up being true since I've expected him to go there for more than a year now.
  15. There was another Tweet before that said teams had submitted final offers though.
  16. They could have a relationship off the field due to his time there? For all we know, he could have a better relationship with Dan Clark than he does with Welington Castillo.
  17. I think most are taking it about as much as when a favorable tweet comes out about the Sox. Examples: Positive Tweet about the Sox from a nobody: random people have broken news in the past! Negative Tweet: why would anyone listen to this guy?
  18. I've honestly felt all along he is going to NY. But I want him on the Sox and am slightly optimistic about our chances. Hopefully there is 0 truth to this.
  19. Yeah the Yankees were interested in Alonso before. With their current options being a Bird/Voit platoon, Alonso still makes sense for them, even if their interest was purely about landing Machado before.
  20. I think Robertson would be a better fit for Boston. Wants to be Northeast, has closing experience, Boston has no closer. Perfect fit.
