  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 02:12 PM) Considering two of our RP are still in the WBC, we need the pitching for spring training. Doesn't surprise me he is still here. But being sent down doesn't mean you can't appear in a spring training game for the MLB team. Look at the spring stats and the random names on the lists that weren't even invited.
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:57 PM) lol yeah...all it took for it to stop was the start of spring training and then the WBC.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) They have a lot of positional talent beyond the top guys too. Fisher, Reed, Davis, and Sierra are guys that stand out to me as well. I'm a fan of Fisher as a potential third piece. 43 homers over last 2 seasons, left-handed bat, walks a lot.
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) There is definitely a lot more chatter on twitter today on this front. Seems like it may pick up some serious steam if one of the big guys reports on this as well. Still could be nothing though. While I don't wish injuries on opposing players, it would be very helpful if an important starter on the Astros, Pirates, Dodgers even went down in the next week and a half.
  5. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) For #WhiteSox to trade him now prevents risk of unforeseen Sonny Gray type situation w A's last yr and premature contending issues https://twitter.com/JimBowden_ESPN/status/844612939592159232 True but it seems like they are willing to wait.
  6. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) There's been more chatter it seems in the last 24 hours, but this seems likes it's happened about 78 other times this offseason too, so until something more substantial comes out I take it as just talk (even though every time I hope it isn't, gotta be right eventually right???) Yeah I don't think he gets dealt until July personally. Just interested in the way he phrased that second tweet.
  7. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) Jim Bowden @JimBowden_ESPN 6m #WhiteSox continue to work hard on Jose Quintana trade that could happen before opening day with Astros & Braves appear best possibilities Jim Bowden @JimBowden_ESPN 20s A potential #WhiteSox #Astros deal would be centered around a package of both Frances Martes and Kyle Tucker. However, nothing close. Most likely more non-news, but do you guys believe this is his own assumption (or assumption around everyone) or do you think there is possible legs?
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Yes, but Covey is lost to Rule 5 rules (potentially) if he doesn't make it. Both are at risk of being taken away. But at this point, who would you rather have? Pretty easy decision in my opinion.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) If Robertson gets traded next week, he could be the 8th inning guy. I would hope if that happens, that they would keep him in the minors for what, 2 weeks, so he can gain the extra year of control.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) I'd like to see the bench be Liriano, Soto/Narvaez, Delmonico, and Sanchez. In reality Davidson and Leury will probably make it even though I don't think either of them offers much of anything. I wouldn't mind Delmonico getting every at bats at third in Charlotte. I agree on Davidson.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) I think Liriano makes it over Asche. Asche is on a minor league deal and goes to AAA without waivers - Liriano needs to clear. I think a rebuilding team will be all about protecting assets, and Asche is not a potential future piece - he's insurance. I could be wrong of course! And if Liriano does clear waivers, that's perfect. Otherwise agree with the above. Covey/Ynoa is a coin flip at this point. Isn't Ynoa out of options? The choice between those 2 seems like an obvious call if so.
  12. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) Isn't Tilson starting the year on the DL as well? I think that's why he put him and Minaya above as they aren't technically cut nor placed on the dl.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 12:03 PM) Honestly I'd rather see Nicky Delmonico make it over Davidson. Heck, even Liriano.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 11:44 AM) Of course I leave for spring training tomorrow. Just because guys are optioned down doesn't mean they can't get into games.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 10:10 AM) I understand the idea behind it. I was just wondering if there is any evidence out there that this actually makes a difference because I'm betting it doesn't. I think you're right. No one makes a big deal about 4/5 righties in a rotation.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) No it won't. The roster of the ml team and current system has no bearing on who gets taken with a 1st round pick. You always take the BPA. And it doesn't seem like that'll be Beer honestly if we pick top 5. Not if he is viewed at 1B (just looked at past 4 drafts in the first round). Depending on where we end up picking anyway.
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 08:52 AM) Purke hasn't given up a run so far. I know we have been there ,done that but I think Purke has the Clark Kent thing going on now wearing glasses on the mound. Don't recall hm wearing glasses with the Sox last year. I'm pretty sure he did. I recall him looking like he should be a barista at Starbucks with they type of glasses he wears.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 11:30 PM) Jon Morosi is laughable how he acts like this tournament matters other than being a showcase for baseball. It's fun, but it doesn't prove any sort of baseball world dominance. That's what 162 and the postseason are for. Well only for fans of the MLB anyway.
  19. Bates Motel final season continues to be good. Starting to merge into the Psycho story re-imagined.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 07:47 AM) Yeah, I went into ST thinking he was a near-lock, but now I'm 50/50 on him making the roster. I took him off my original post.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 08:20 AM) Not to mention that just because we start the season this way, doesn't mean that doesn't quickly get shuffled as someone gets skipped, moved, etc. Exactly
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 08:15 AM) It would be a big deal, but all three of them are very different pitchers. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 08:15 AM) That doesn't really matter in a tank year. Plus there's always the chance that 1 doesn't pitch in the same series as the other 2.
  23. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 06:15 AM) I dont think Collins will affect who they pick with a top5 overall pick. I was saying if they view him as a 1B and possibly view Beer as an unathletic 1B it could.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 06:59 PM) Lopez will replace low man on the totem pole in June, then make that guy the long man in the pen. Hopefully someone is traded instead
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Yeah, so he got claimed, and now he's shown to be healthy which was a big part of the question with him. I'd be surprised if he cleared waivers, but we'll see. He got hit in the head with a pitch I think it was last spring. He spent the year dealing with vision issues. He's k'd 19 times already. You can probably chalk it up to not playing at all last year and not seeing pitches but he could possibly be having vision issues.
