  1. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Fans need to be prepared for three rough seasons, but with 2020-2023 behind our prime window to contend 2017 = awful 2018 = subpar, but slight improvement 2019 = on the right track, ideally get back to .500 2020-2023 contenders Hopeful draft pick spots: 2017: #11 obviously 2018: Top 3 (if everything goes right, #1) 2019: Top 6 or 7? 2020: 10-15 range, inching closer Obviously if we end up becoming good enough for contention sooner, than even better. But yeah, I'm expecting at least 3 bad/mediocre seasons. Guys gotta get through some growing pains. Not everyone will just come up and click right away.
  2. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 10:18 PM) How about a Survivor themed banner, one with Q, Robertson, Frazier, Jones, Melky, and a torch in front of all of them. As they get traded over the next 12 months, we update the banner with an extinguished flame and silhouette. This one has my vote.
  3. If its one of those "Best players right now" type of lists where it basically just goes off the previous season, you have Lester at 5.3 WAR in 2016, Sale at 4.9 and Arrieta at 3.4. So just looking at that, it is a little curious that Arrieta would be ahead of him.
  4. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 10:16 PM) Sounds like he's qualified to be President. He didn't really like either candidate so he just hates on both.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) No he won't. He's worse than Avi out there and that's saying something. Good enough for LF = still beliw average, but bat will make up for it. "Hide the glove" position afterall.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 07:53 PM) Soxtalk's collective mind is going to blow up when Schwarber becomes an average outfielder. I think he'll be good enough for LF.
  7. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 10:14 PM) You've made a wise choice. Love him. Not afraid to talk politics and tell ya how it is.
  8. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) Wow, almost 24 hours without a post in this thread! We must all be hungover. Have a great day! There's nothing to talk about here.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 44m44 minutes ago Don Cooper hopes last season was an aberration for James Shields: "He still has the stuff he needs." #WhiteSox Don't we all haha QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) Scot Gregor ‏@scotgregor 48m48 minutes ago #WhiteSox pitching coach Don Cooper on Michael Kopech's main flaw: Every single pitch, he's trying to throw the s*** out of it. Knock that s*** off, kid. I hope he's smart enough to listen haha
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) LMAO. I think the Sox and Sox fans think the same thing. My thought exactly.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) Paul Sullivan ‏@PWSullivan 11m11 minutes ago The Sodfather says sprinklers will be on at Sox Park this weekend due to nice weather. First time in February in his 50 years here. AMEN! Can't wait to play baseball this weekend.
  12. From what I read, he has to go onto the MLB dl so there goes a year of service time (and also coming back from injury the following year though I suppose he could start that season in minors).
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 10:02 AM) Now if they honored him and gave him one of those jersey's with his number on it... Yes then that would be troll job haha
  14. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) They are. It's the ultimate troll job. Actually, its not a troll job as it was the plan prior to the trade lol they were going to wear those uniforms and honor that team or whatever that weekend, I think a holiday weekend. This was discussed on radio shows the day the trade happened.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) Broadcast school wet s's . Ed Curran CBS 2 weather guy drives me nuts with them. 45 degreesh, shunny conditionsh. Lol my boss at work also has that issue. She's explaining how we do this one process and when she goes to say "base-year," she says "bashe year." So frustrating lol
  16. Not a big fan of Parkins so far. He seems to have trouble with the letter "S". Every time he says a word with an S, it sounds like "sh".
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) What if Yolmer is like 100 times better than Carlos? Going off his WAR from last year, 0.0 x 100 = 0.0 lol
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) This was a good line in the story: "And make no mistake, Chicago has the money. After running payrolls of $118 million and $114 million in 2015 and 2016, the White Sox are set to come in at around $92 million this year. That’s “Matt Wieters pillow contract” money or “eat the last year of Melvin Upton’s contract” money. And all it would require is the will to do so." I think he's platooning this year with someone but I like the idea.
  19. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) I've got a group of 8 of us golfing on Saturday. This is insane. Outdoor drinking might be my favorite activity so to do it in February is pretty nice. Yessir. I'm not really into the bar scene so to be able to do it in someone's garage or backyard around a bon fire pit or while swimming is amazing.
  20. I went to a job interview downtown last April (think the season had started already) and it snowed and was like 20 degrees so you never know. Edit: it was the day before Opening Day (pretty sure it snowed then) and they were playing a day game in Oakland. Also for curious minds, I got the job.
  21. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) This absolutely describes my attitude about the right way to root for the Sox this year. It's the only way to go about it really. Going to games on beautiful days will still be a good time with friends and family. And cheap lol
  22. A couple weeks ago when it was 60 on that one Saturday, I played catch, basketball, just hung out outside and then to top it off, played running bases...I am 25-years old haha
  23. Rick Hahn coaching first base at his son's little league game with a confused look on his face reading a text on his phone about the Sale jersey incident.
  24. Started listening to Bill Burr everyday at work...soooo funny.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) No he didn't say at end of the offseason Yeah it looks like he didn't say the end.
