He's the type of guy who can end up on 3 different teams by the time Spring Training starts.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) In no sense was Trayce sold high. The trade would have been defensible IF the Sox were in a position to win AND they didn't have a gaping hole at CF and pitching depth, particularly in the pen (of course those weaknesses, exacerbated by the trade, are a large reason why the Sox weren't in a position to win). A savvy trade of Sale plus another year of quality development by the young pitchers, and the Sox could be ready in 2018. But the usual out of Hahn will yield the usual results. They plugged the hole with a cheap stop gap. He got hurt unfortunately which they didn't plan for.

Hopefully the Indians can get to Arrieta early. and at least Crisp should be back in the lineup. Seems to be the only Indians OF getting hits (besides the Santana homer the other day and Rajai's hits yesterday. Hopefully the lineup is: Santana DH (ideally, he would hit in the middle but he can draw walks and get on base which a lot of guys on the team have struggled at.) Kipnis 2B Lindor SS Napoli 1B Ramirez 3B Crisp LF Davis RF/CF (Naquin hasn't done anything offensively but neither has Chisenhall) Perez/Gomes C Naquin CF/RF (for defense; Chisenhall is awful) Something along those lines.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) Indians need to get Santana in here one way or the other. Salazar....Salazar.

Come on Tribe. Close it out today. I want to see all the fans cry into their beers and I want to finish the weekend without hearing Go Cubs Go.

QUOTE (zimne piwo @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 03:03 AM) Francona will keep Bauer on a really short leash. Nothing's etched in stone, but let's just say the Cubs have a much steeper uphill climb than the Tribe. Yep. Gotta be a Bauer/Salazar game.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) Even though he's not going to be able to play until May / June? Mark Why not? Low risk. If he hits well for the final 4-5 months, offer him a QO. Or trade him in July if he hits well May/June through July. It would be the type of signing rebuilding teams do (if that is the route we are going). Altough if he could get a one year deal from a team looking to compete (like the Indians), he'd likely just take that.

Assuming Ramos doesn't take a 1-year pillow deal with the Nats, I'd like to try to sign him to one.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) Indeed. He was a good prospect, never elite. He has a great few months, and his value is now of an elite+ That should also have held for Trayce, who was a fair prospect with a great 2 months in MLB...should have been able to sell him of the value of a very good prospect...he wasn't. Buying high is not the way to approach things. Similarly , July was the time to grab Benintendi. Should have been able to? We did sell high on him.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Would be nice if Napoli decided to show up for this series. And about half the inning.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) Why not play Crisp over Chisenhall, dude is just dreadful. I've thought the same.

I get it. Bring in a better defender in left and they weren't going to pull Lindor or Kipnis.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) Awful...saw one strike entire at bat ? There were 3.

I think the Indians will get to their pen.

Please, Santana. Don't f*** up in LF.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 10:44 PM) Is Cespedes a good fielder? Or a butcher out there? He definitely would be a nice bat to go with Frazier and Abreu. That would mean three guys hitting 30 or more homers. That is returning us to our glory days in terms of way to win games. HRs in the Cell. I think because of the Cubs success we will sign him. I'm assuming he's a decent fielder (let me know pls). Cespedes in left, Eaton center and Melky right. Trade Avi for scraps or let Avi DH and pray he has his breakout season. Just think if Avi could hit 30 homers. That'd be FOUR guys whacking 30 HRs. Trade Lawrie and have a decent infield of Frazier, Anderson, Saladino and Abreu. Anderson might hit 15 homers and Saladino 10 to 15. Then we should make a major trade and acquire a catcher and reliever for some minor league studs. If we could get Cespedes, a catcher in a blockbuster trade, a reliever of note (a guaranteed good one to go with Robertson) we actually might contend. Why wouldn't this lineup win the Central?: Anderson, Eaton, Cespedes, Frazier, Abreu, Melky, Saladino, Avi (DH) and catcher. With a good manager he might make that work. Yes, a lot of slow slow baserunners, but two really fast ones at top of order. If you want to have one fast guy at the top and one at the bottom, put Melky second in the order and move down Anderson. Our pitching staff is good enough to contend IF we got that one RELIABLE lockdown guy (with heat) to go with Robertson. U figure between Jones and Jennings we have two arms we can flip flop. An easy way to fill a hole is just pay Cespedes a gazillion dollars and make that blockbuster trade for a good catcher and excellent reliever. JR gets his contender if we make these moves and pay some big bucks. No excuses. That is a wildcard team if it is managed correctly! Do it. Go Sox! It's just $$$. The alternative is to suck again. We won't do squat without SOMEBODY like Cespedes added to the team, also a catcher and a GOOD reliever (you guys are dreaming if you think our current pen will be good nuff; it won't). Anybody disagree?? Who? I could see us buying low on a guy like Derek Norris who is currently blocking Austin Hedges.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 07:57 AM) My dad was a little kid in 1945, and his cousin had just returned from the war and was visiting. His cousin took him to the WS at Wrigley. The bought tickets at the box office the day of the game. My dad has the trifecta, attended WS games at Wrigley, Comiskey, and USCF. I wonder how many people can say that right now. WOW. Not many at all I would imagine.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 07:00 AM) Most people watch programming on mobile devices and tablets than ever before. And i bet the bars are really f***ing packed for these games.

James Shields officially not opting out

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 12:48 AM) James Shields will be a 2017 All-Star after he is visited by Mark Buehrle, who imparts his wisdom unto him like a baseball version of Yoda. f*** it, bring back Buehrle to be a lefty reliever. We only have one. -
I don't think there's even a chance Lawrie gets non-tendered. If anything, they would tender him and deal him for whatever they can get from a team that could use a 2B or 3B for a season.
-
MLBTR says Nats aren't likely to give Ramos a QO. I call bs on that one.

John Lamb dfa'd by Reds. Can't have enough arms right? Maybe Coop can fix him and make him a reliable lefty reliever? -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Hope it goes to Eaton, predict it goes to Betts. More than one guy at an OF position can win.

Hopefully Bauer can go 4 handing the ball off to Salazar or Merritt for another 3-4 innings.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) Chisenhall reminds me of AVI in RF Seriously. I wish Brantley was healthy.
