  1. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) Seriously. You guys are acting like he is a bum. I know he didn't have a 4 win season, but he's still incredibly valuable to a team in need. If they didn't get a good offer for him, then just offer him the QO and get the pick. No brainer. Yep.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) He'd probably get a contract similar to what Encarnacion will get IMO. Agreed. He's also younger than Encarnacion.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) Hmm. Thanks for sharing. Didn't realize the advanced stats hated him THAT much. The eye test would say he is mediocre defensive 1B, but clearly the stats say otherwise. I wonder where EE would be if he played as much 1B as Abreu over past few years? Encarnacion I believe has mostly been a DH due to injuries.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) DH's aren't worth nearly as much on the free agent market as actual position players. His value you should be similar to EE and he may get a 5 year $125 million deal. I bet a team that misses out on EE calls Hahn about Abreu.
  5. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) Hahn made it sound like he is sticking around next year In a rebuild, I don't expect him to go anywhere.
  6. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) Frazier just isn't very good. His power numbers are great, but his performance relative to his power numbers is poor. They may just end up holding onto him and offering the QO at season's end.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) It depends on how tight the market actually is. Justin Turner is available as a free agent and was substantially better than Frazier this year. Luis Valbuena put up better numbers than Frazier and is available, but he only played 90 games. The thing I can't answer right now is - how many teams don't need these guys? Houston has Bregman who will take over 3b, they don't need one. Boston may or may not want a 3b. A lot of the other competitive teams have guys they're probably pretty happy with at 3b. I only count a handful of teams that Frazier would be a clear upgrade for, some of those are like Minnesota - not going to bring in someone to replace Sano or other young guy - and they're off the list too. If someone like SF or Boston steps in to go after Turner and takes him off the market, that could create more demand, but right now this position doesn't seem like the sellers market that you see at other positions from a quick look at the leaguewide stats. Now that I look at this, Frazier might actually not be in that much demand at all. That's troublesome. I was thinking possibly Mets. They have Wright at third but there is no way you can count on him. Frazier can also be a 1B option for them though (or they can shift Wright to first).
  8. What do you guys think is a realistic return for Frazier? I would think at least one good prospect since a team trading for him can recoup a pick with a QO (assuming it doesn't change much in the next CBA). So likely 2 good prospects?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Kyle Glaser ‏@KyleAGlaser 1h1 hour ago Manfred says he expects new CBA to be done by Dec. 1 expiration of current one This will probably make players and teams hold off until then to see if there are any changes to free agent compensation.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) That may have been Rock Raines QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Yes, that was Rock. Oh ok. Knew it was someone.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) Wish we could get some info from Bucket. Haven't heard from him all year. I think he was the one who had a falling out with his source. Or maybe it was someone else.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) Yah, except I don't have confidence that Vazquez is any good. I don't think he is either. My preference is Swihart in all honesty and he might be the Sox preference as well. Who knows.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) Glad to hear Cameron thinks it is short. Give me Rodriguez and Vazquez in addition and I'd probably do it. Yeah. With that deal, you'd fill 3 holes at the MLB level: one created by dealing Sale, catcher spot, and an MLB-ready OF.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) From today's Dave Cameron chat: Interesting, (1) hadn't thought about the QO factor for Frazier, and (2) that Red Sox deal sounds like one I'd gladly take for Sale. I feel like it's one more prospect short. Or another prospect and one of their catchers as a toss-in. Also, I feel like I should post this here as a reference to other Red Sox prospects: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=bos
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) I will never forget this feeling as long as I live. I can only hope that this is something we look back on one day and say we overreacted and it didnt put our country back too far. Problem is that I am afraid our regression has already happened a while ago but its just come to the forefront now. I'm thinking this is actually how it is going to be. I base this off nothing other than a guess.
  16. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) ? Maintaining marriage equality was one of the things she repeated said was important in a SCOTUS justice, along with upholding Roe v Wade and getting rid of Citizens United. http://regated.com/2016/10/hillary-clinton-gay-marriage/ One of her many lies.
  17. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) The type of SCOTUS justice he's been hyping up is NOT okay with gay marriage. To be fair, neither is Hillary.
  18. Mine would be: Sale Quintana Eaton Abreu Frazier Nate Jones Robertson Melky Miguel Gonzalez Lawrie Feel obligated to include the next 3 since they get brought up here) Rodon Anderson Fulmer And then I'd trade during the OFFSEASON: Sale: doesn't really need an explanation, just get a haul Miguel Gonzalez: teams could use backend rotation depth Todd Frazier: only one year left Melky Cabrera: only one year left Lawrie: only one year left, don't think his value is going to change much holding onto him Nate Jones: 5 years left, signed cheap, teams are valuing bullpen more than ever before I'd keep.. Quintana: 4 years of control left, signed cheap, can move in July or next off-season, still have to fill out a team, would move if there is another big haul out there after dealing Sale, however. Abreu: unless we get an offer of 3-4 prospects this off-season, I would hold onto him Robertson: injured last season, just had surgery, value is down, deal him in June/July unless a team pays up Eaton: under control for 5 more years, sort of falls into the same boat as Quintana. Rodon: could be at the front of the rotation on the next good team OR if the rebuild is going horribly, hope he develops enough to deal him with a few years of control left (currently 5); his agent is also Scott Boras so throw the idea of a team-friendly deal out the window Anderson: 6 years of control left; isn't going anywhere Fulmer: 6 years of control left; isn't going anywhere If they deal/keep those guys listed above and without accounting for players brought back (hard to pin point who exactly would come back in all those deals): C: Narvaez and Smith: there will likely be an addition here whether through a trade or free agent signing 1B: Abreu: reasoning above 2B: Sanchez/Saladino: if its a rebuild year, it doesn't matter too much; the other serves as a backup infielder 3B: Davidson: why not? SS: Anderson: obvious LF: Coats: again, in a rebuilding year, nothing to lose playing him; someone probably gets signed to platoon or start over or an MLB-ready player is brought back in a trade (I think the latter is most likely) CF: Tilson: see above RF: Eaton: reasoning above DH: Garcia: probably share this spot with a mix of guys; I can totally see a Matt Holiday signing here on a one year deal Bench: C Smith/Narvaez IF: Saladino/Sanchez OF: Liriano for now Util: Garcia: can cover IF and OF and be used for speed off the bench Starting Pitching: 1. Quintana 2. Rodon 3. Shields (leads this team to a top 3 pick!) 4. Fulmer (gets a crack in a big league rotation) 5. ?: Ranaudo, Turner, or minor league signing or a pickup in a trade Bullpen: Robertson Jennings Burdi (called up after 2 weeks, become eventual close when Robertson is dealt) Putnam Petricka Soto (forgetting some guys; figured we could use another lefty) Ynoa/long reliever (Ranaudo, Turner, minor league signing?) EDIT: now I know it won't look like that on opening day, but I was sort of subtracting off the guys I think may get traded and just sort of replacing them with next guy on the depth chart.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) I think he's referencing Quintana's contract rather than the trade haul it would take. Yeah that's something else I considered but forgot to type. Thanks.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:10 AM) "Jose Quintana, another 27-year-old White Sox pitcher who would come relatively cheap and is entering the peak of his career" Thought that was odd too. Unless he is saying in comparison to Sale.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:18 PM) Yeah, but at this point, I am going off of what Hahn is saying. Yeah those other guys are just guessing off of quotes. Nothing is definite.
  22. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 06:00 PM) I thought that's what I saw. He f***ed his original tweet up so that began the confusion. Yeah fooled me too. Many thanks to hi8is.
  23. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) Incorrect. He said he would expect a Sale / Boston deal to center around AB. https://twitter.com/barstoolwsd/status/796122487914369024 My mistake. I see he corrected it.
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) I'm very happy they have a direction and aren't playing with themselves while teams execute their off-seasons. I think I saw @whitesoxdave say he thinks the Sale to Boston deal will be centered around Benintendi. He actually said he would be surprised if it was centered around him.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) The other side is that you are also giving up on a lot of production as well. Right so I feel like it sort of evens out a bit. And it's also possible the prospects you give up turn into duds however.
