  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) The 2nd Red Sox deal and the 1st Dodgers one if I absolutely had to pick, but I don't particularly like any of those offers. Yeah each one still needs more but I was think it was just a hypothetical and not an exact offer he would accept.
  2. I'm for it. I miss the days (not long ago actually lol about ten years ago) when teams had 6-man bullpens and 5 (6 in the NL) man benches.
  3. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) I'm sure this is posturing and teams just not caving in yet. I think that's his prediction for what the team says when he is still here on opening day.
  4. QUOTE (Gakman23 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) He will be the opening day starter for the White Sox next year. I voted Red Sox but I also feel this is very likely.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) I'd like to see Liriano play a bit. Losing the other two wouldn't be a big deal, but I think Rymer has potential. Especially if Melky goes. He can get a chance in left next season. Or Melky goes to DH and sees a good chunk of time in LF as well.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) The Sox have a lot of fringe guys on the 40 man as of today. They can easily dump a few to make space for players with more potential. Agreed.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) He ended the year on a hot streak, but he was hitting terribly around the all-star break (which is why you might think he can't hit). Turned it on after the break and had a pretty good year overall. His defense keeps his value afloat no matter what though. I think he started the year on the dl for what it's worth.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) I would do Engel, May, and Guerrero. Delmonico, if some team wants to keep him around all season, good for them. I don't think he is much of a game changer. I doubt he lasts a full season with an MLB team if drafted.
  9. Danks and Latos throwing back to back days for the first month and a half or so with barely any team days off and no long relievers kinda hurts the bullpen overall as well. And Gonzalez wasn't really going deep into games at first.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) Tomorrow (Friday) is the deadline for teams to add players to their 40-man rosters in order to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Here's a look at who is currently exposed that may need protection, and who is already on-roster that could go. What the Sox do Friday could perhaps be an indicator of direction for the offseason. Unless you mean a free agent signing or trade, then I don't think it does.
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) Oh...ok Lol I looked at his stats and was like "wtf." Haha
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:00 AM) Archer isn't as good as Sale I agree. Archer also had a down year and has 2 more years of control. Point is, teams will likely try to buy him based on the season he had last year and the Rays will likely try wait and deal him like at the value he was previous years. I don't see him as an easy to trade for candidate. Now Sonny Gray, he shouldn't really be in the convo (though with an injury plagued 2016, I doubt he gets moved now either).
  13. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 07:27 AM) 4th outfielder should be able to pitch relief as well......................... You joke now, but I'm pretty sure the Padres are making Bethancourt a third catcher/5th OF/pinch hitter/close to 100 mph throwing reliever lol the ultimate utility player. Not a bad 25th or 26th man if rosters expand in new CBA.
  14. Just looked at Archer's contract. 5 years/ $39 million. The Rays should be able to command about the same if not more for Archer than Sale. I don't think its likely Archer goes anywhere so realistically, that should be one less likely alternative to Sale. Rays would likely put a higher price on Archer for the Red Sox than the White Sox would to the Red Sox since they are in the same division.
  15. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 05:37 AM) Not a hard speculation given their interest in the past IMO And the fact we haven't had much stability behind the plate since AJ.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 07:06 AM) just realized how almost all these guys were on tigers. Had their owner paid out like crazy imagine they had a rotation of Verlander Scherzer Porcello Price Fuller A $120 million rotation That'd almost be $30 mill each for the first 4 since Fulmer would be league minimum. That'd be an insane rotation.
  17. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 08:54 PM) Sox prospects in danger of being lost per MLB.com: Chicago White Sox (6) 6. Adam Engel, OF 10. Jordan Guerrero, LHP 12. Jacob May, OF 14. Courtney Hawkins, OF 25. Luis Martinez, RHP 27. Nick Delmonico, 1B/OF Sox have the 40-Man set at 38, so you have to figure two of those guys will be added before Friday. I don't have the 40 man in front of me, but are there any good candidates to dfa?
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) There is going to be a melt down no matter what happens. Let's be real. Tousché.
  19. Can you guys imagine the meltdown that will happen here if Sale isn't traded this offseason or if someone like Gray or Archer are dealt for a haul?
  20. Think it's fair to say "(insert team name here) could have/has/is a fit for Sale."
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 03:34 PM) The fact that I like it so much tells me LAD would probably say no. Lol yeah...more than likely. I've pointed out a few times though that they get basically 3 first round picks in next year's draft if Turner and Jansen sign elsewhere, along with a possible draft pick for Frazier in 2018. Maybe they can look at it that way and figure they can recoup some big losses in a trade now? Edit: also just really bored at work lol
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) Nah, I would've posted it too. I just don't think the words "rumor" or "reported" should be in the title because they got me excited for mere speculation. Me too lol I came back from a lunch outing with co-workers and I almost spit out my water lol
  23. QUOTE (heirdog @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) The quote just seems to lump the Sox as "speculative fits based on need." While it's true that catcher is a need, doesn't mean that they have actually shown any interest. This. It seems like a lot of people can't tell the difference.
  24. Who says no? White Sox get: Urias, Bellinger, Verdugo, Lux, Buehler, Barnes and Puig (as a throw in) Dodgers get: Sale, Frazier, and Robertson Lot of moving parts, but would be big for both teams.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 2h2 hours ago 12/1 CBA expiration date wreaking havoc on FA process. Teams/agents not sure of luxury tax threshold. One agent: "Should've expired 11/1". Agreed! Very stupid to have it expire a month into the off-season.
