Legitimate chance of Sale trade to #Nationals per Rosenthal

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) You guys are all kidding yourselves if you think Turner is going to be in a package.... My guess is that Giolito and Robles are agreed upon but Hahn and Co. are trying to get as many of Lopez, Fedde, Joe Ross, Stevenson, Kieboom, Severino as possible and the Nats are balking at which 1's and how many go with the 2 headliners. All the while the Hahn is still checking his phone every 5 seconds waiting for a better offer to come in. Presumably waiting for Boston to come off of 1 of Moncada/Benentendi + Devers + 1 of Kopesch/Groome or Houston to let go of Bregman + Tucker + Musgrove/Paulino. I'd be surprised if anyone else is seriously in the mix. Yeah there's no way they give up Turner. Too important of a piece. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) So who wants to guess what is going on here? Do we think a package based on Giolito and Robles is an acceptable framework for the Sox? And that we are just haggling, as Rosenthal said, over the remaining pieces? I'm going to guess we still are asking for Turner in any deal. I know some folks think that is ridiculous, and I am not saying I don't agree, but my guess is this deal would be pretty close to done by now if we were ok with Giolito and Robles as the headliners. My guess is Hahn and Co are still asking for Turner, Giolito and Robles, while Washington is willing to agree to the latter two. Then, if Boston jumps in with an offer of either Benintendi or Moncada, but not the other pieces we desire, we can go back to Washington asking for Turner. That's just my feeling for how the Sox are hoping this will go. I kind of feel like the Red Sox are lurking in the background up until the last minute to see what kind of package they would have to beat. -

I would love Robles and Giolito back in a package. It depends on what the other 3-4 pieces back are however. With that said, I'm still holding out hope for a Sale and Robertson for Benintendi, Devers and others package. -
Astros one of teams reportedly trying hardest to acquire Sale

Come on Astros! Sign Encarnacion and make Bregman even more irrelevant to your team! -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:00 AM) Offering McHugh and Fliers isn't trying very hard. Neither one of those would land a top 100 prospect and a rebuilder obviously has no interest in either. It's not implying that they're being offered to us. -
Desmond is still avaliable. Get him. f*** it.

QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Everyone is already speculating that Joel is dead, and that Ellie is dreaming in the trailer, that she is super angry and going to kill all the fireflies and at the end of the game we'll see Joel actually dead. Saw that and it makes sense. It would make Ellie want to take vengence over the Fireflies.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) Yup. When Laumann spoke at SoxFest prior to the 2014 draft he spoke about two players the team really coveted and a tier of 8 players that were in consideration. He basically said, without saying his name, Rodon wouldn't get to them and Turner could be a game changer at the top of the lineup. I hate to be that guy again, but do you have any nuggets on anyone else that we haven't heard about today (Frazier, Robertson, Jennings, etc.)? -
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) 2017 offseason, so following next year. Depending on what site you look at (I'm looking at you baseball reference), that could mean this offseason. But I understood it in this case otherwise we would have already heard this news.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) Kind of a slow first day of the meetings.... Yeah, will never quite be like it was a season or two ago when there were like 25 trades over the course of 4 days. -

I'm still rooting for the Astros to add another big impact bat either today or tomorrow (Edwin and his smaller market?). -
I am growing impatient haha it doesn't help that I started a new job a couple weeks ago and haven't learned too much yet (I'm not busy at all and time is going very slow).

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Confused if order means "which piece goes first" or order as in there was no top-down directive given to rebuild. This is what he means I'm pretty certain.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:40 AM) I think Joe Ross would definitely be on the table. If they were to get Sale they would have a rotation of Sale, Scherzer, Strausburg, Roark, and Gio(not too shabby). AJ Cole is another guy. Probably more of a back of the rotation starter but he's 24 and has had a good bit of success in the minors. Struggled in 8 starts this past year but was still able to K a batter per IP. Wilmer Difo has a ton of speed and is supposed to be a wizard with the glove. If he can hold his own at the plate he could be a starting quality 2B quickly. And then Michael Taylor is still only 25. He could be an interesting change of scenery guy. Obviously Cole, Difo, and Taylor and end of the package type guys, but I think there is definitely a deal to be made with Wash if they are willing to give us both Giolito and Robles. After those 2 it could be 1 of Ross/Lopez as the 3rd piece and the 4th and 5th wouldn't have to be any of their top 5 prospects for me. I think a deal is very possible, just hinges on us getting BOTH Giolito and Robles + Lopez or Ross. Taylor would definitely have to be a toss in in my opinion. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 07:30 AM) So now the rumors are that the Nationals view Robles as an untouchable as well, at least in talks for McCutchen. They have no chance of landing Sale (let alone him & McCutchen) if he's off-limits. Again, seems like posturing to me with Rizzo saving Robles to be that last piece to push an offer over the top. Yeah I only read that he's off the table for McCutchen. He has to be in talks for Sale if they are unwilling to move Turner. Every young guy on their roster would have to be on the table. -

QUOTE (Username @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 07:52 PM) I think they'll ship out some excess pitching to make it happen. Ross in particular, plus Gio/Roark should net a good return in this market. Could be a 3-team deal for Sale even, Hahn loves those. They also might dangle Espinosa, with the same goal. I was thinking the same. -

QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) Bob NightengaleVerified account @BNightengale The #Nats are actually trying to trade for Chris Sale AND Andrew McCutchen and believe they have the prospects to pull off both trades. at least they believe it... It's possible...IF they are willing to trade Turner. -
QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Where are you sticking Gattis/McCann on the day they don't catch? Just sitting them? If the plan is for Beltran to DH, I guess they could both see at bats at first and Gattis occasionally in left.
-
Last of Us part 2 announced. So stoked.
-
QUOTE (ron883 @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) I'm just curious as to why anybody thinks gurriels bat would stick at first? He didn't exactly light the world up. You aren't winning with that bat at first and with that pitching. They're paying him and running out of positions for him. We just gotta hope Houston still adds another bat for 1B like Edwin.
-
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) Gurriel can also play 3B I know but as the way things stand right now, I think he's slated for first.
-
Rabbit tweeted that he heard Astros wanted Encarnacion plus Beltran or Holliday so they should still be in play for Edwin.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) Why? If Beltran DHs, Gurriel likely plays first leaving Bregman 3B.
