  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) DD talking about the trade now, only brings up Hahn's name, never mentions Williams. Just a note. Well Hahn is the one that is going to be communicating to DD and other GMs.
  2. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) What, too much work for you?? @BNightengale The #WhiteSox getting besieged with calls now for Jose Quintana, but the Sox are expected to step back, catch breath, before dealing him They have to take a break to reload on coffee and food.
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) I am actually on system overload right now with trying to keep up with 10 different threads at one time because every thread has breaking news. Not sure I have ever seen anything quite like this on ST. Me too lol it makes me look busy at work though with all the clicking and typing.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) I would very much be interested in going after Gomez if I were the White Sox, now that they have moved Sale. Fills a need, doesn't matter if he's terrible, if he gets a 2 year deal then he could be tradeable if he can recover somewhat. I want him as well.
  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) What, too much work for you?? @BNightengale The #WhiteSox getting besieged with calls now for Jose Quintana, but the Sox are expected to step back, catch breath, before dealing him Everything is going as planned.
  6. Can't see him being dealt until Fowler and maybe Desmond signs. Probably Gomez as well. Just money in those cases (plus 1 draft pick for the first 2).
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) What does this exactly mean? The Sox aren't scared in trading him? Sacred not scared lol Edit: it means no one is untouchable
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) Has it been mentioned anywhere that the Sawks are paying Moncada's entire salary? Thats what Bernstein reported on the radio. Not salary. Signing bonus. He will make league minimum with us and go the regular control route.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) I'm not worrying about pitching at all for the future. It's almost always there for us. Now we could have a rotation of: Rodon Fulmer Kopech Hansen Stephens Plus they will likely take another good pitcher in a first or second round in the next couple of drafts.
  10. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) It would be very funny to now go get a 5-7 player package from the Yankees built around Clint Frazier and Gleyber Torres for Q. OR, go chat the Nationals up about that Giolito/Robles package for Q. That would be amazing lol
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) Top three prospects in baseball since MLB Pipeline showed up: 2011: Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Matt Moore 2012: Jurickson Profar, Dylan Bundy, Wil Myers 2013: Byron Buxton, Oscar Taveras, Miguel Sano 2014: Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, Kris Bryant 2015: Byron Buxton, Corey Seager, Lucas Giolito Lot of good names there. Buxton was probably rushed to the bigs honestly.
  12. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) He was up for 31 days. That really doesn't effect the White Sox in any meaningful way. They have him for 6 years. If they wait 6 weeks to call him up they will get a 7th. This and I really hope he starts in AAA.
  13. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) Kinda wish Boston had not blown a year of service time by calling up Moncada in September...but I'm nit picking now They didn't waste a year of service time.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) I thought it was a signing bonus...but I guess it can be paid over 3 years or something. I had assumed the Red Sox were paying this all along. I guess I am happy to see it confirmed. It was a signing bonus but its likely broken up.
  15. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) The way I understand it, the Red Sox already paid the tax, the Red Sox are covering his actual salary. His bonus. He should be league minimum and under regular control.
  16. The Red Sox are only paying him the remainder of his $31 million deal. Anyone know how much that is?
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) Wait, I thought he only got $31.5 million and the other $31.5 million was luxury tax? None of it was luxury tax. It was 100% tax penalty on going over foreign amateur spending.
  18. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:37 PM) This is from the Red Sox forum: Most feel that they underpaid for this deal (does not happen with normal Red Sox meatheads) They are also skeptical if Moncada will ever figure out how to hit the breaking pitches, strikeout numbers is a concern. Yeah man, I'm pretty nervous about this deal. Nervous, excited, disappointed, sad lol
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) He should be kept as part of the rebuild imo. He's cheap and offers some upside. Trade him and bring him back in 2018 when he is a free agent.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) Technically Boston did give up a guy from their lineup. With Shaw traded Moncada was in line for 3B. But now it's Panda with Devers about 2 years away. I never saw that Moncada was going to start in the MLB next year or ever felt that vibe. I would have put money on him going to AAA. Especially since Panda is there at 3B.
  21. QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) This would be a Sox move. Rehab & potentially flip/keep. Miguel Gonzalez, Humber, etc I keep forgetting he exists lol maybe we can flip him for an interesting prospect or two.
  22. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) Pretty sure the bulk of that is sunk costs for Boston at this point, certainly the signing bonus and penalty. It's sort of funny, to date, Boston has probably paid more for Moncada than we have for Sale. Yeah the money is done. They paid Moncada his signing bonus and MLB the penalty tax.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) I thought Houston would seal the deal a week ago but boy did I call that Nats leak yesterday Maybe Astros will try to pony up for Quintana? With Sale off the market now, Quintana becomes more appealing.
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) I thought Houston would seal the deal a week ago but boy did I call that Nats leak yesterday Ha I literally posted in a thread that the Red Sox are likely lurking to beat a final offer for Sale in the last minutes of negotiations.
  25. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) So, does Hahn get credit for this trade, or will KW somehow steal the show? haha Both get credit.
