Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
Bob Sacamano replied to Southwest Sider's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) Robert Murray reported a little while ago they are trying to trade David Robertson and have checked in on the free agent reliever market. Definitely should be looking at adding relievers we could potentially flip in July or next off-season (no Jansen or Chapman though). -
How would you feel emotionally if/when Sale is traded?

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) Before anyone suggests it, no, he should not get his number retired...ever. In fact 49 and 23 should be on new players backs in February. Good luck to Sale, but that era of Sox baseball is completely forgettable. I do agree that it shouldn't be retired and this era is totally unforgettable. However, it's not because of Chris Sale. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) Wouldn't mind moving Frazier for Devers now. Well of course you wouldn't lol but it doesn't quite work that way. -
Your response to Sale getting traded to the Red Sox
Bob Sacamano replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I love Chris Sale so it's rough. This had to happen. I love the first 3 parts of the trade but am slightly disappointed we didn't get at least another position player (Travis, Devers, anyone lol) out of this deal. -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) Thanks man. I didn't know him well but it's still extremely sad. He had his whole life in front of him and now it's gone in an instant. On a side note, would someone like to predict the White Sox top 10 prospect list now? Moncada has to be #1, right? When you are the #1 prospect in baseball, I would have to think you're #1 on a team's prospect list haha -

QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) I was thinking either that, or his source told him to remove the info? I mean, why would he be getting good info about the Thornburg trade and then bad info about a Sale push. I think the source maybe had to backtrack a little bit because this wasn't supposed to be leaked. I was thinking its because the two teams are still discussing. The Thornburg post said something along the lines of it being a sure thing. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) Completely agree. That's why to me, Trea Turner needs to be in this deal. Guys like Chris Sale are not traded like this, especially at 27 with 4+ years of control left. But with our incompetent organization, we have to. This is a franchise changing/saving/etc. move. They absolutely cannot afford to mess this up. (Similar to the Bears draft this coming offseason) Turner for Sale isn't going to happen. The Nats offense is already meh and they will likely lose Harper in 2 years. We have to aim for players like Turner on other teams who may be expendable (Benintendi with Boston's position player depth at the MLB level and minors, Bregman if Astros sign another bat). -

QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) I doubt it. Can never have enough quality bullpen arms, just like starters. Yep thats why my post listed Robertson as still an option. They are a team that got pummeled by the Indians bullpen so they know first hand that bullpens are key. -

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) You guys are all kidding yourselves if you think Turner is going to be in a package.... My guess is that Giolito and Robles are agreed upon but Hahn and Co. are trying to get as many of Lopez, Fedde, Joe Ross, Stevenson, Kieboom, Severino as possible and the Nats are balking at which 1's and how many go with the 2 headliners. All the while the Hahn is still checking his phone every 5 seconds waiting for a better offer to come in. Presumably waiting for Boston to come off of 1 of Moncada/Benentendi + Devers + 1 of Kopesch/Groome or Houston to let go of Bregman + Tucker + Musgrove/Paulino. I'd be surprised if anyone else is seriously in the mix. Yeah there's no way they give up Turner. Too important of a piece. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) So who wants to guess what is going on here? Do we think a package based on Giolito and Robles is an acceptable framework for the Sox? And that we are just haggling, as Rosenthal said, over the remaining pieces? I'm going to guess we still are asking for Turner in any deal. I know some folks think that is ridiculous, and I am not saying I don't agree, but my guess is this deal would be pretty close to done by now if we were ok with Giolito and Robles as the headliners. My guess is Hahn and Co are still asking for Turner, Giolito and Robles, while Washington is willing to agree to the latter two. Then, if Boston jumps in with an offer of either Benintendi or Moncada, but not the other pieces we desire, we can go back to Washington asking for Turner. That's just my feeling for how the Sox are hoping this will go. I kind of feel like the Red Sox are lurking in the background up until the last minute to see what kind of package they would have to beat. -

I would love Robles and Giolito back in a package. It depends on what the other 3-4 pieces back are however. With that said, I'm still holding out hope for a Sale and Robertson for Benintendi, Devers and others package. -

Come on Astros! Sign Encarnacion and make Bregman even more irrelevant to your team! -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:00 AM) Offering McHugh and Fliers isn't trying very hard. Neither one of those would land a top 100 prospect and a rebuilder obviously has no interest in either. It's not implying that they're being offered to us. -
Desmond is still avaliable. Get him. f*** it.

QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Everyone is already speculating that Joel is dead, and that Ellie is dreaming in the trailer, that she is super angry and going to kill all the fireflies and at the end of the game we'll see Joel actually dead. Saw that and it makes sense. It would make Ellie want to take vengence over the Fireflies.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) Yup. When Laumann spoke at SoxFest prior to the 2014 draft he spoke about two players the team really coveted and a tier of 8 players that were in consideration. He basically said, without saying his name, Rodon wouldn't get to them and Turner could be a game changer at the top of the lineup. I hate to be that guy again, but do you have any nuggets on anyone else that we haven't heard about today (Frazier, Robertson, Jennings, etc.)? -
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) 2017 offseason, so following next year. Depending on what site you look at (I'm looking at you baseball reference), that could mean this offseason. But I understood it in this case otherwise we would have already heard this news.
