  1. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 07:32 AM) Who said White Sox can't develop position players? Who's on Third in Charlotte in '17? Peters, Delmonico, Trey M? I enjoyed the article, Julie. Possibly Davidson if he isn't the starter in Chicago. Trey should be in AA again.
  2. I can see what rabbit is trying to say about it not being as big a deal in their culture compared to ours. But you know what else seems like is treated differently based on stories over the past year? Women abuse (Reyes, Chapman, Puig, Familia). Neither is ok (I get you're not trying to say that though).
  3. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Nah...you don't worry about where Bregman plays. Just get his bat in the lineup. He has 15+ HR potential (8 in 200 MLB ab's), so he'd be just fine at 3B or even LF. He'd easily be an instant top 4 hitter on our team so I'm sure we could manage to find a spot for him. Or 2B.
  4. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) if it meant getting/was the difference between getting a Torres/Fraizer/Rutherford back in a deal then sign me up...Headley's not very good but he's versatile (me trying to talk myself into the idea)??? I'd take him in a salary dump move if he came over with a prospect. Similar idea to what the Braves did quite a few tims the past couple of years.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) Thing is, we don't know if we would have even had to rebuild if we had a real manager the past few years. Could a real manager have taken this team, which has 4-6 very good players, and won with it? No.
  6. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) I still do not believe the Chairman is going to allow a rebuild. Sale might be traded, but then we are going to be told that the Sox are in a much better position to compete now with the players Hahn gets in return. I truly believe this is a smoke screen. Yeah I'm not buying a full tear down. I think they deal Sale, Robertson and then a few guys on one year deals and kinda "go for it" this year by signing stop gap types (Rasmus/Gomez) for an OF spot and deal guys in July when we are in 4th place and look to compete in 2018.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 12:45 AM) Benintendi Eaton Cespedes Abreu Melky Frazier Anderson Moncada Catcher Q Rodon Gonzo Shields Fulmer Colins + Adams in 2018 If that's the rotation we open 2017 with, I don't want to waste money on Cespedes.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) The Sox have to claim him if he makes it this far, no? Definitely the type of guy to put on an MLB team that is rebuilding. You hole to catch lightning in a bottle with cast-offs.
  9. Basically what I expected. Can still bring back nice pieces dealing Sale, Robertson and Abreu and interesting pieces on the shorter term guys.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) He could definitely be a SS but Correa simply isn't moving. He was strong there in a short stint last year, seemed to adapt to the position well. Machado-like, for a comp in that sense. Maybe Bregman is a stronger SS and you decide Anderson's the one to move, that one I can't say I've seen enough to answer as I haven't seen Bregman play any SS, but Bregman to 3b is at least one obvious option. And Altuve is at Bregman's second best position so that forced him to third.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) So fairly simple question...if we do receive a guy like Bregman or Swanson that is a ss, what do we do with Anderson? Can he play CF? Bregman can go to second and I guess Swanson forces Anderson to CF?
  12. QUOTE (rockren @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 11:45 PM) I agree I'd rather them hold onto Eaton, but if Toronto did center a package around Vlad Jr....you'd really have to consider flipping him. I'm really not crazy about building a team to compete in 2018- the Sox need to tear it down and build from the ground up with eyes closer to 2020. What the Astros and Brewers have done is what I wan the Sox to do. I'll be honest: I don't want a trade centered around Vlad Jr. Who knows how that guy's body will turn out behind the time he's MLB ready (if ever). I'd take him as a 4th piece at most. If Vlad Jr is the centerpiece of a deal, please walk away.
  13. I saw Rays released John Lamb. Would be interested in converting hkm to a lefty reliever. Sign him to a minor league deal so it doesn't affeft the 40 man.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:54 AM) If sox want position players there is always chance for a 3rd team in deal. What would this third team get back? Its easy to say Sox trade Sale to team A for prospects but also receive prospects from team B. Another big player would have to be switching teams.
  15. Urena SS, Reid-Foley SP, Alford OF, Guerrero Jr 3B(probably an OF or 1B eventually)? Just throwing some names out.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) Gotta say, this is where the "Cubs effect" is going to hurt the sox. I would bet the Astros just roll with it. They also have AJ Reed who didn't show much in majors but could be a piece to trade. So true. Bregman being able to play 2B,SS,3B (can't remember if he saw time in the OF at the MLB level or minors) but he could be used like Baez. Gurriel may see some time at 1B it seems and Reddick is terrible against lefties so I guess there will always be opportunities for him to play.
  17. My preference for a centerpiece of the teams interested: 1. Bregman 2. Swanson 3. Urias (mostly because I would really like a position player back as the main piece, though I do believe Dodgers have good position players to add to an Urias package) I wouldn't be disappointed with any of these guys (plus the additional 4-5 other pieces as well).
  18. As is the case with the Dodgers, Blue Jays should also have 3 picks in the first 35 or so (if Bautista and Encarnacion sign elsewhere and Jays don't surrender other picks).
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 05:16 PM) This pretty much confirms a White Sox rebuild. They have loved McCann and would have topped that return if they were going for it. Agreed. Could have easily been beat and Sox tried to sign him a few years back.
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 07:32 AM) I doubt it. But it sure would be nice. If the Sox could score Bergman, I'd move Frazier and hold there. Push Melky and Robertson and Jones in July. But I'm an advocate of the partial tear down. Aren't you the one that was advocating selling everyone including the hero Adam Eaton months ago?
  21. Sooo assuming Springer and Reddick hold down the corners and McCann and Gattis share DH and Gurriel being paid to likely play third with other options able to play 1B, where does Bregman fit? They should really step on the necks of the AL West and trade for Sale.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) It would never happen, but I think there should be a daily 22-man roster turned in, with your entire organization eligible, and ties called after 12 innings. So they would just remove the previous and next game's starting pitchers as well as an additional starter who may not be throwing a side-session that day. Doesn't really do anything.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) The 2nd Red Sox deal and the 1st Dodgers one if I absolutely had to pick, but I don't particularly like any of those offers. Yeah each one still needs more but I was think it was just a hypothetical and not an exact offer he would accept.
  24. I'm for it. I miss the days (not long ago actually lol about ten years ago) when teams had 6-man bullpens and 5 (6 in the NL) man benches.
