Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) That's fair, but it's the first paragraph of this article saying it's going to happen before spring training. We have 8 days until camps open? He really seems set on believing something will happen over the next 7 days lol

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 02:16 PM) who's kickin' around? Some posters have posted the idea here at least a handful of times over the past month + but no real legs.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) The fans would riot if the Sox took a lesser package to salary dump Shields Shields will be here for the next two years, which is fine since we are rebuilding. Best case scenario is the Shields miraculously redeems himself enough this season to become a viable deadline trade chip (very wishful thinking) That's what I was getting at if it wasn't clear.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 12:45 PM) The White Sox aren't going to trade anyone with Q that would or at least could lessen his return. Hahn said as much at Soxfest when some shmuck thought adding Shields to a Q trade would be a good idea. Lol yeah I'd rather just eat the 2 years of Shields. And hope he can pass by as a back-end starter for a team.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) True. Either way, there is no way I would settle on Q if I was Hahn. Beer looks good now but he is far from a sure thing and there's no guarantee the Sox would get to take him anyway. Making him an integral part of the deal is not wise. Agreed.

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) @Inside Baseball tweets that after missing out on Romeo, the Nats have "intensified" Robertson talks. Is that just based on the stuff this morning or is it like fresh within the past hour or two.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) There's no way I take a lesser return for Q right now just to bank on getting Beer later. Sorry. Those 2 scenarios are also independent. Regardless of the return Q brings back, it's likely not helping us win any more or any less games this upcoming season.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (Soha @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 11:57 AM) You know, that would be fine with me. Robles is > Meadows, Tucker, Glasnow or whoever else you can come up with as a headliner for Q. But reports back in December were the Nats didn't want Quintana. Yeah and that was even before they traded for Eaton. They don't have quite as many bullets now.

An update on MLBtr. Assuming the other team was the Nats, that stings for them haha

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) Can you imagine if we can somehow land Robles? SoxTalk would have a field day Would be awesome but I doubt it. Maybe a desperation move at the deadline but probably not now.

2016-17 free agency thread (NON WHITE SOX RELATED)
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 10:10 AM) I don't really think the Sox care about a replacement. No matter who it is, I think the goal is to have a couple of these starters up here for the 2nd half of the season, which means if someone sucks and gets dumped, no big deal. Exactly. They just need a warm body to eat MLB innings.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) Is it safe to say that Q is on the team until the deadline if he isn't traded before pitchers and catchers report? A pitching injury on another team can change that but yeah, probably.

Worth mentioning that the agreement with Dodgers and Romo has not happened yet because a team that was in the mix upped their offer to him. I figure that would have to be the Nationals.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) Source: Sergio Romo, #Dodgers agree on contract. @MLBNetwork @MLB https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/827687326927106048 Nationals have to be getting desperate. Worth noting that this isn't official. Another team upped their offer and there is no agreement yet with the Dodgers.

2016-17 free agency thread (NON WHITE SOX RELATED)
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 5, 2017 -> 10:10 PM) Felt for a while now he was the replacement for Q if a move is made. It's fine though, don't mind Q staying based on some of these mediocre trade proposals. They can get anyone still available to replace Q...they can just bring back Peavy. They're not going to compete either way.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) I could have sworn seattle just traded bonus pool amounts. Cubs just traded their "28th overall" top international bonus slot to the Rockies this week. I can't find where it says otherwise but it has to be their 16-17 period since they were third best team in 15 (I guess making them the 28th overall reverse standings wise). Edit: ok you found it haha

Frazier Trade Discussion
QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 03:33 PM) I highly doubt it. I don't think boras will allow any type of hometown discount which is what the sox have a history of doing with pitchers. I think he meant "keep him around" as in through his current control, not necessarily extend him.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) Once Jose Quintana is traded, Carlos Rodon becomes the new White Sox ace. Rangers have increased pursuit of Q?
QUOTE (FT35 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) You'll have to excuse me...I'm late to this party--haven't read all the posts...but trying to catch up! Quick question...were the picks awarded to Houston competitive balance picks or STL's regular picks? I was under the impression that only competitive balance picks could be traded in MLB? If they were not competitive balance picks, Houston couldn't trade them to us could they? One was a comp bal pick. And it can be traded just not until the season starts making this a moot point for a trade to happen now.

Rangers have increased pursuit of Q?
QUOTE (Soha @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) Doesn't the pick come with an extra 800k you can spend on signing draft picks, which would make the extra 800k valuable, if not the 75th pick? Perhaps it might allow you to sign someone with the Sox 2nd round pick who dropped out of the first, but will want more than slot money? I think getting the best value into the system now should be a priority over worrying about trying sign more guys in the draft 5 months from now.

Rangers have increased pursuit of Q?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) That is pretty dangerous. If you have an agreement in place to circumvent the rules, you can get smacked down pretty hard by MLB. Not worth it IMO. Yeah it would be. I'd rather just get a return of 4-5 prospects and let the Astros feel cgood about their 2 extra picks coming to them in July to replenish some depth.

Rangers have increased pursuit of Q?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Regarless of if it could be traded or not, why would the 75th pick in the draft interest anyone? Get a player that has been developed and can be projected far more accurately. Yeah this is how I feel too.

Rangers have increased pursuit of Q?
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) To be honest, I don't need Martes to make a deal happen. I'm to the point I prefer trying to acquire bith Whitley and Perez in place of Martes. I would shoot for Tucker, Whitley, Fisher, Perez and Stubbs. Imo, the value of that package should sit between the Sale and Eaton packages. Three top 100's and two fliers would be a nice little haul for Q. I'll take that one too lol
