  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) It amazes me that the White Sox push their top starters harder than most any other team in baseball, yet they always have so many less injuries than anyone else does. It is kind of amazing. Yeah haha who are all the Cardinals who have had it over the past few years? Wacha, Wainwright, Lynn, Reyes now, Garcia I think and if you go back farther, Carpenter.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) Because of the time of year it is now, it would have to be a full season. Typically 9 months is the low end. That would get you back after the world series. I was getting at the fact that every starter on St. Louis seems to have that surgery at some point in time.
  3. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) Jeff Passan @JeffPassan now There is significant concern inside the Cardinals' organization that Alex Reyes, their star pitching prospect, needs Tommy John surgery. More speculation coming now, we shall see how the Cards react. With that organization, it almost seems like a requirement to have to miss a year due to Tommy John.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) My feathers are definitely ruffled. Shame on you. Pretty funny that it was the exact same quote.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) Didnt know I would ruffle feathers probably a wrong choice of words. I read a couple recent articles and rumors on twitter that make it seem as if its heating up again. NOTHING IS IMMINENT. You didn't ruffle my feathers lol just thought it was odd choice of words since I haven't seen anything in a while about Cutch and thought maybe I was missing something.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) I am slow. Is there a direct link to the Pirates trading Cutch and them trading for Q? There is a ton of rumors out there that they want to trade Cutch again. Seems to be heating up on that front. Where are these "tons of rumors"?
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) Reyes getting injured is not likely to result in St Louis deciding to pursue a major trade like Quintana Also, I think the Sox are interested solely in elite prospects in exchange for Quintana, and beyond Reyes their system does not currently have any I agree with this. They will likely just sign best available starter remaining (de la Rosa?) and plug him into the 5th spot.
  8. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) Seeing Sale in Red Sawx makes the soxtalk banner look ready to be updated lol Good point.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) Sale quotes, if you care anymore... https://twitter.com/alexspeier During this long season of tanking, why not.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) Would marijuana impact his physical at all? I know he's had problems with that in the past. I don't think so.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) Damn. That quote is pretty telling and I'd be shocked if Robertson was a part of their long term plans. What else would he say? That's basically the situation him and all the veterans are in lol
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) Eddie Gamboa DFAed. Huge news. Knuckleballers are fun....bring him in!
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 07:49 PM) I actually thought it was the first move. I don't think they are this petty. What would be the point of trading those two and then just holding serve? Wouldn't we have a Napoli signing? A Wieters signing? Right. They would have improved the mutliple holes.
  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 06:42 PM) Why did the stupid Cincy GM (at the time) give Phillips a NTC in the first place? What was he gonna do, sign with Pittsburgh? The GM fraternity must be the most overpaid group of morons in the country. May have just been 5-10 rights.
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 05:44 PM) Thats why i waa asking. Haha I know.
  16. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 05:07 PM) When did the sox pay for Laroche last year? They didn't.
  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 04:46 PM) As fans we have to remember that this is still a business first and foremost. While dollars and cents might not matter very much to fans, they especially do at the ownership level I don't think it was the Pirates who backed out at the ownership level, I think it was the Yankees The Nats are in a tough spot, and might be forced into giving up a significant prospect or two to coax the White Sox into helping eat some of Robertson's salary Probably realized it made no f***ing sense for themselves lol
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) Don't think pirates have the money for Q with Bastardo still on roster Never in a million years would one think that Q's contract would be a problem for a team lol
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) Interesting to see that the number was put at 4 more deals they want to make. Q, Robertson for sure. Frazier was one we saw a lot of rumors about. Who was #4? Abreu? Cabrera? Frazier rumors died when Turner signed pretty much.
  20. Haven't had a chance to read yet but figured I'd share. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/whit...rebuild-qa.html
  21. Nats close to deal with Adam Lind. 1 year with an option. Good signing. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/nati...-adam-lind.html
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) That is the issue I think The Sox do not want to receive middling prospects back AND have to eat a large chunk of salary to make a deal happen If we are not getting Fedde or Soto as a headliner, I don't feel the Sox need to be kicking in all that much cash to make a deal happen. The Nats system really falls off sharply after Robles, Fedde and Soto The rumored Kieboom and Voth package is ok, but not if they want us to pay up as well QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:52 AM) That is kind of how I look at it. If the Nats won't let the Sox into the top few guys, no need to pay up on Robertson's deal. What about Soto, Kieboom, and Voth for Robertson and $10 mill (5 this year and 5 next)?
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) Soxtalk, preparing itself to be retroactively pissed off at a trade that may or may not have been on the table I'm thinking it wasn't. Agent probably just heard wind of a "Sale to Red Sox for prospects" deal and probably figured he should let his client know. But yeah, you're probably right haha
  24. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) Who would these prospects be? How much money would the Sox have to eat? I don't know. I'm not necessarily saying just Nats but in general. I would take 2-3 B level prospects and send over a few mill a year to bring that kind of return. I do think they'll wait for him to re-establish value and trade him to a team where they don't have to eat any money.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) Which Nationals prospect is even worth eating a lot of money for? Robles is the only one I can think of and he probably isn't available. If the Nationals aren't willing to offer anything decent for him, then the Sox should just hold him and wait it out. I think he has a good chance of being a quality closer in 2017 which would increase his value at the deadline. If we ate some money on his deal and they were willing to throw in 2-3 B type prospects, I'd probably do it. The couple mill a year to Robertson won't kill us. But at this point, I think he stays til the deadline (assuming he's not hurt).
