  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) Interesting to see that the number was put at 4 more deals they want to make. Q, Robertson for sure. Frazier was one we saw a lot of rumors about. Who was #4? Abreu? Cabrera? Frazier rumors died when Turner signed pretty much.
  2. Haven't had a chance to read yet but figured I'd share. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/whit...rebuild-qa.html
  3. Nats close to deal with Adam Lind. 1 year with an option. Good signing. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/nati...-adam-lind.html
  4. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) That is the issue I think The Sox do not want to receive middling prospects back AND have to eat a large chunk of salary to make a deal happen If we are not getting Fedde or Soto as a headliner, I don't feel the Sox need to be kicking in all that much cash to make a deal happen. The Nats system really falls off sharply after Robles, Fedde and Soto The rumored Kieboom and Voth package is ok, but not if they want us to pay up as well QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:52 AM) That is kind of how I look at it. If the Nats won't let the Sox into the top few guys, no need to pay up on Robertson's deal. What about Soto, Kieboom, and Voth for Robertson and $10 mill (5 this year and 5 next)?
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) Soxtalk, preparing itself to be retroactively pissed off at a trade that may or may not have been on the table I'm thinking it wasn't. Agent probably just heard wind of a "Sale to Red Sox for prospects" deal and probably figured he should let his client know. But yeah, you're probably right haha
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) Who would these prospects be? How much money would the Sox have to eat? I don't know. I'm not necessarily saying just Nats but in general. I would take 2-3 B level prospects and send over a few mill a year to bring that kind of return. I do think they'll wait for him to re-establish value and trade him to a team where they don't have to eat any money.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) Which Nationals prospect is even worth eating a lot of money for? Robles is the only one I can think of and he probably isn't available. If the Nationals aren't willing to offer anything decent for him, then the Sox should just hold him and wait it out. I think he has a good chance of being a quality closer in 2017 which would increase his value at the deadline. If we ate some money on his deal and they were willing to throw in 2-3 B type prospects, I'd probably do it. The couple mill a year to Robertson won't kill us. But at this point, I think he stays til the deadline (assuming he's not hurt).
  8. They ate majority of Danks' $15 mill salary last season to release him so I assume they are open to eating salary to make a trade.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) Could be, could be more that agent heard rumors of a sale trade and was just prepping him in case. The post-mortems were pretty thorough from Boston media and seemed to indicate it was just haggling out of backend of Moncada/Kopech. If you think that is just because not talking about potential trades with players on roster, that's fair, but with the Yankees trades with the cubs we know they were offered that A/B deal between Jiminez or Torres. Haven't heard that with Sale trade in final days. Actually, I think this is probably all it was.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) If true, that sure as hell is interesting... to me it suggests that the Red Sox presented two packages, one based on Moncada and another based on Benetindi... the White Sox probably informed Boston that they were going to trade with them and gave them a time for presenting their decision. Don't see any other explanation for this quote. This is what I think.
  11. I feel like whitesoxdave said he heard from his source that the offer the Sox declined at the deadline was Benintendi and 3 pitchers. I think they were Owens, Ball, and Johnson. That was before Benintendi came up. I could be remembering incorrectly.
  12. I feel like this is probably nothing still. Soto is basically guaranteed a spot on the roster (barring injury) so they probably figured now was a good time to outright a catcher.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 11, 2017 -> 11:10 PM) To get rid of Brandon Phillips, the reds are paying near all salary and apparently getting little back. Good trade for Atlanta.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) There's no need to clear a spot for Soto right now, and you don't have to proactively clear a spot before a trade--there's wiggle room there after a trade is made. I would guess this is a new free agent being added. The idea is that Soto likely makes the team and will need a spot. They figured right now, as opposed to end of Spring Training after possible injuries, is a better time to sneak someone through waivers. They don't risk losing Smith to a team that needs catching depth.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) Wieters? I don't think so. Personally, I'd take him on a 1-year deal in hopes of flipping him.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) I notice Bourjos was never added to the NRI list. Did he possibly get a major league deal, and now it's going to be official? I think it was a minor league deal. But I think he and Soto will make the team out of Spring Training and they probably figure they found a spot to try to pass someone through and took advantage.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Could be a sign they need the space, or it could be convenience. They saw an opportunity to get him through, so they did. Maybe later in the spring someone needs a catcher and claims him. Eventually Soto will need a spot, assuming he makes the team. Yeah it's likely something like this. They could sign someone and then worry about subtracting from the 40 after so I don't think they're signing anyone.
  18. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 02:50 PM) Chicago White Sox @whitesox 10s C Kevan Smith has been outrighted to Class AAA Charlotte. He will still participate in major-league camp as a non-roster invitee. I wonder why. That brings the 40-man to 39.
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) Easy, we had two exciting deals two months ago and have had s***all to do since True lol we let our hunger blind us.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) The more I think about it, the more I think Hahn is making a big blunder keeping Robertson on the roster this year. If you want to maximize Jones' value, you get him experience as a closer. Hard to imagine a contender that needs a closer giving up valuable prospects for Jones if he has no closing experience. Well he can close from June/July til the end of the year and then be traded in the off-season. Not every trade has to happen now/by July.
  21. Been wondering why we all suddenly read into what Bruce Levine says lol
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 01:45 PM) No worries, it's not like the Sox score runs for Q anyway. We still have Shields, Holland, mystery starter #5, Avi and the entire outfield to help with the suckdom. It wasn't going to be an epic suck anyway as long as Frazier, Melky and Abreu are on the team but it did have all the possibilities of being a righteously sucking team. Sigh, what might have been... There is no mystery 5th starter. You're missing Rodon and Gonzalez (who I usually forget exists myself haha)
  23. QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 01:30 PM) But I want the suck to be epic Maybe the offense will continue to suck and his no decisions and rare wins will be losses.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) Given their circumstances, Houston should trade Bregman for Q 100% of the time and never look back. I can see why they wouldn't want to if they are that high on Bregman. Like I said earlier, I think their rotation can be good if they can stay healthy. I'm sure they will have interest in June/July because I think they'll have an injury to someone or maybe a youngster like Musgrove isn't doing too good in his first full season. I at want them to stay close in the race with a need for a starter just so they're in the mix.
  25. Anyone use an external hard drive for their PS4? I ran out of space and I don't really want to delete anything. Was thinking of grabbing a TB hard drive but I was looking for some opinions here.
