White Sox Listening on Sale
You could ask for Russell in my opinion since the Cubs could plug in Baez at short. Maybe a step down but suitable replacement.

Tigers @ Sox. 7/22
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) LOL Upton is garbage. Didn't want that bum let alone for $142 million He was my second choice out of the big 3 (Cespedes was first).

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) I agree. I am very much against moving him unless a player such as Correra comes back in return. That contract is insanely valuable and should drive the asking price up IMO. Yeah. I don't think a team will subtract from it's MLB core during the post season race however. More of a move in the off-season when you can try to plug the hole with a free agent or another trade.

Dodgers kicking Tires on Q
QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 05:54 PM) Move Q, Sale gave the Sox a massive discount cause he wants to play here. Sale probably would do the same when he becomes a free agent. Very doubtful of that.

White Sox Listening on Sale
According to T.R. Sullivan of mlb.com, the Rangers are "making a serious effort" to land Sale.

Red Sox Reportedly Interested in Robertson
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) This needs to be in seperate threads. What do we realistically think the return could potentially be and any other thoughts on teams in contention who might be in the market for a closer? Probably below what the Red Sox and Astros gave up for Giles and Kimbrel but you never know.

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) Serious question: What would be the point of trading Quintana for Urias? Best case scenario, Urias turns into a pitcher as good as Quintana. Quintana, who already is a pitcher as good as Quintana, is signed reasonably for four more years. Urias, a rookie, has six years' control. So basically you can have Quintana for four more years, or a guy who might be as good as Quintana for six years. Is that two years of upside, mitigated by the bust risk, really worth it? Four years is a long time! With the condition that the Sox will be attempting to compete in 2018 or 2019 (which I think they will, even in a rebuild they're not going to punt more than a season or two), I just don't see the point in trading Q for a pitcher at all. If the Sox trade him, it should be for multiple impact bats. Because it wouldn't be a 1-for-1 swap and you'd be getting 2-3 other legit pieces back.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Thank you for reading it. I spent a lot of time writing it and watching the pitches I mentioned in slo mo frame by frame on my DVR. I know I rub people the wrong way with constant questioning of pitch framing. I could've wrote even more citing others who question it, not just laymen like me but the same kind of guys who came up with it in the 1st place. But then again others rub me the wrong way by constantly referring to pitch framing as if it is the end all be all of what's important in a quality catcher. Even fangraphs had a more recent article about the better framers stats getting worse because umps are wising up. I could have pointed out that the curveball was out of vogue for a while when the split finger pitch came into vogue and part of the reason was because it's just a very difficult pitch to call right. I have been a keen observer of baseball for many years and even before pitch framing became a thing I thought umps were very poor calling pitches strikes that end up in the strike zone but miss their spot. It's just lazy umpiring focusing on where catchers set up more than on the strike zone itself and the height of each batter to establish that zone . Again thank you for your kind words. I definitely agree with just about everything you said. Pitch-framing as a stat is bull. Edit: in reference to your post above.

I feel like if you're trading for Profar, you're trading to win in next couple years which seems hard without Sale. Kinda dumb how he was able to gain experience on the dl.

Tickets for tonight?
QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) Don't they check tix at some of the weekend games? Only if the crowd is over 25,000.

Tickets for tonight?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) I am going to cheat and put this here, but is anyone looking to dump decent and cheap tickets for tonight? Thinking about going last minute. $7 tickets for upper deck at the gate. You will be able to walk down low and sit where you want.

People harp on those guys because they are trying to contend. Now that they're open to rebuilding, I don't really care who's in the lineup.

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) I won't be bummed to keep Sale and Q. Still have the rotation set for four years basically with that. Davidson and Avi should be warnings of "we'll just trade for a Top 100 prospect and they'll plug in automatically." I wouldn't be bummed either but if a team offers a huge haul in the next 10 days, I wouldn't be too upset if they dealt either.

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
Just read an article on MSN saying Dodgers are taking a different approach this season and willing to trade top prospects for front line guys. Article specifically mentions Sale and Quintana. Edit: actually can't find it now but when I do I will re-post. 2nd edit: posted above my post.

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
Probably worth reminding people that Lawrie only has a year of control left. Edit: if you decide to go for a rebuild and hold onto him and trade Frazier, I guess he could be your 3B next year (if they are still rebuilding that is).

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 07:23 AM) What exactly is wrong with a 26 year old 2B who can hit you 50+ extra base hits, play solid defense, swipe a few bags and has about a league average bat overall? I'm guessing he's referring to his approach at the plate or something.

White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 07:14 AM) Do we really think if we unload a bunch of players for prospects, that the prospects will flourish in our system--a system where position players go to die?! Again...I'd love a good rebuild, but I just have serious doubts that our organization would know what to do with all the talent coming back. I think it would be a shock to the way things work. Quite honestly, with our management philosophy, prospects are only good if you can trade them for MLB pieces you need. I'm not sure we have the people to develop 6 of the top 50 prospects in MiLB. Even if they are MLB ready and start all the way up with us, we have a coaching staff who has worked with a vet-heavy group of guys as long as they have been here. Still think if you infuse your minor (and major) league system with some of the top prospects in the game, you better bring in the people who are known for developing these players or they will wind up to be busts. Anyone watch the movie Miracle? The US vs the Soviets in the Miracle on Ice game? Remember when the Russian coach didn't pull his goalie for the extra attacker when they were down a goal late in the game? US Coach, Herb Brooks leaned over and told his assistant coach that the reason why is because they have never been TRAILING a game late enough to know to pull their goalie so he didn't know to do that? THAT is how I view a rebuild for our team! WE would miss so many obvious developmental opportunities simply because our organization doesn't develop young talent, we trade it. I'm a little skeptical of it personally but I just want them to pick a lane and stay in it for a few years. No half ass quick rebuild like 2013 and if you're going to compete, be willing to spend more. I think they will try to compete next year though as the third year of the "3 year plan" and if next year looks more like this year, they'll make some serious changes.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 07:02 AM) Exactly like Lester, Zobrist, Montero, Lackey, Ross, etc. Well they spent around the young guys that would stick when it was time to compete. Still kinda loaded in the minors. Edit: mostly referring to the rebuild. They did a great job of adding young talent.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 12:47 AM) The Sox are f***ed if they look to the Cubs as an example of what they can do. Bringing in a plethora of young talent? Yeah terrible idea.

Misc. Sox Quotes & Tweets
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) If the Sox are truly looking at tearing down, the only meaning left to this season is evaluation of everyone who has long term value. Who's lined up to face the Cubs? Gonzalez, Shields and Turner first 3 games? Woof.

7/21/16 Tigers @ Sox
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) I was at the sox tigers game where Austin Jackson was pulled out in the middle of the inning. It was crazy. I was at the game Miguel Olivo got traded mid-game. Hit a 3 run bomb that day against the Cubs.
