  1. FINALLY SOMETHING HAPPENS At first glance, this looks like a pretty darn good deal. On the surface, this definitely could hurt the arguments of Harper and Machado for record breaking contracts.
  2. It'd be interesting to know the AAV of the Sox deal. Sounds like Milwaukee blew everyone away as far as dollars in a year go.
  3. Hunting is definitely a good bit of fun! So far, I've hunted legendary cougar, fox, wolf and elk. The wolf gave me a good scare. I took a repeater with me and shot him in what I thought was his head. He started rushing me and I was barely able to get off another shot on his head as he then fell down dead right beside me. Good times there. The elk was weird. I found it, got a shot off and it bolted. I started tracking it in what seemed to be circles. I figured it was gone at that point, so I started back to my horse and there was the elk... right next to my horse. I whispered "don't move Nokota..." as I was able to pull off a headshot. The elk started running again, and I'm just like "what the fuck". Then I see on the minimap a dead animal so I go to find it died shortly after running away. Victorious! As for fish, I got a legendary bluegill by the chapter 3 camp. Got a legendary sturgeon by St. Denis... thing was a total b**** to catch. Started to make me hate fishing. The bridge I was fishing off of had train tracks, but hours had gone by without a train so I stuck with it without too much worry of a train... now here's where your comment about Saving often comes into play... I FINALLY CAUGHT THE FUCKER. The game went through the whole congratulatory process and whatnot, but at that same moment a train was actually coming! I also realized my horse was right next to me! I couldn't do anything but watch my horse get totally creamed, and somehow I ended up aboard the train, but dropped my fish. I jumped off the train and ran back to see my horse, dead in the lake. Tried whistling but the game said yo your horse is dead af. I also couldn't pick up my fish that was right there. *Sigh*... reload latest save point again and start over. Good times. ? I've heard that some challenges near the end can be a pain in the ass to finish. In particular the gambling and maybe another. I don't remember. I doubt I will have the patience for all of it, because by the time I get close to finishing it will probably be halfway through 2019.
  4. I'm also making my way through RDR2. Chapter 4 here, just getting pretty frustrated with St. Denis and pressing a button to mount my horse but instead what happens is I tackle a pedestrian and get wanted. Or other accidental assaults. Other than that, tons of fun. I love exploring. It reminds me a bit of like a Wild West Zelda. So much stuff to find and do. I never 100% games so I probably won't ever get to do this one either, but it's been well worth the money to this point. One example is God of War. Amazing game, got into a good rhythm with it just like I have with RDR2 now. Decided I wanted to beat all the content and pretty much got down to last few things including the NIflheim Valkyrie. I discovered that Niflheim is a giant pain in the ass and instead of grinding it out, stopped playing. I may revisit it again some day but then other games eventually come along and my little spare time for gaming goes to that.
  5. I'm thinking we might hear a little bit more about these rumors later today. Just a feeling, no sauce.
  6. I really hope at this point that the parties are working their way towards a middle number. It would really suck if the Sox were still on 175, or 250, and Lozano was still stuck over 300+. But maybe theyve figured out a general number and years and now are just finishing up the fine details. WSD tweet would lead me to lean more towards the latter.
  7. Get Joc, get him over 30 HRs per year, keep him at CF, then trade him during the trade deadline 2020 and cash in baby. Losing Bush would suck but there's some real potential ROI here. Could snag a prospect better than Bush if everything goes right.
  8. Sorry Manny thread, Im breaking up with you for the Joc thread.
  9. Definitely had me scratching my head for a second.
  10. Ive seen it accidentally spelled Borass a lot back in the day. And Bora$. Not really sure how people made those mistakes.
  11. There is only a slight blur under Manny's supposed "S". The Sox hat shown here has approximately 33% of the hat as part of the o and the x. Manny's S is too different, whatever it is.
  12. Definitely not a traditional Sox hat. The "S", or what we perceive to be the S is far too big. There's too much being made of the S shape, but not enough about the lack of an "ox" shape. On to the next thing.
  13. Not that I'm complaining, but Lozano probably became who he thought JR would love to deal with. A professional negotiator. By all means, Lozano may no longer be a sleaze, but I think he does know the White Sox are his best chance at getting his next big payday, which unfortunately for him means dealing with JR. He may secretly hate working with JR, but he has no choice and has to act the role necessary to get paid. /tinfoilhat
  14. I wonder if Lozano is desperate for a huge payday again. Been awhile since the Pujols contract... given the deadspin article, unless he has changed he likely could have blown through most of that money by now.
  15. The latest for Passan is concerning. If Machado makes too much sense for the Yankees, then we must be talking about another level of sense for the White Sox. The lowball offer garbage better not be true. If we keep fucking around in the low 200 range and the Yankees swoop in with a 200 million deal, Machado may just take that. And the Sox won't have a chance to increase because they've proven they won't budge if no one out bids them. Sox need Machado. Increase the bid based on the "you have been a shitty organization for 12 years tax" and at least make it harder for Manny to choose the Yankees. The last place you want to be is sitting with the highest bid in the low 200s in February if the Yankees are willing to come close to that.
  16. From North Aurora. Commute to Dekalb 4x a week. If the Sox sign Machado, I'll meet some of you assholes for a celebratory drink. ?
  17. Lozanos phone prob blew up with lowball offers today
  18. Any chances its Philly with the leaks?
  19. I really believe that if the Sox sign Manny, they will circle back to Harper and attempt to make a deal. Whether or not it actually happens is another thing, but I don't expect the hot stove insanity to be over when/if Manny signs here. Adding one is a huge win for the franchise, adding two puts you in a much better spot competitively down the road. You get to rely less on the volatility of prospects with 2 known quantities. Sure, it's possible these guys flame out, but the odds of that happening are worse than the odds of them being productive players IMO. Think of the possibilities... the Sox's if/then scenarios become a lot less volatile, and opens the door for many many possibilities when inevitably we hit on some prospects and miss on others. Now to put down the pipe. I seriously doubt we get both. Machado to the Sox probably pushes Philly into finally putting their crazy money where their mouth is. It could get out of control quickly, and it would be tough for the Sox to keep up, IMO.
  20. Yesterday was D-Day in the sense that the social media negotiation wars hit an apex.
  21. Good podcast. I felt like it was pretty sobering, however. Cooper details how our farm really doesn't have a ton of impact talent compared to the very best farms. He still loves our farm, but we do require Eloy to be a cornerstone and several of our best prospects to 'hit' for this to be success. To me, this clearly highlights how badly we do need to add a player like Machado, especially if we want to reach Rick Hahns goal of critical mass of talent.
  22. It's a small sample, but I was at O'hare New Years Eve and easily saw way more people wearing Sox stuff than Cubs stuff. Moments like that help me to remember that there is a sleeping giant of a fanbase here.
  23. There's been some cryptic hints towards that by some. I forgot exactly who. I'll say this though. Personally, I believe that if the Sox sign Machado, we will soon get some news saying that "now the Sox will be focusing on Harper", and I believe it won't be altogether untrue (like an agent plant).
  24. Negotiations could have been nearing an apex at the end of this week and it may be believed that real, final progress may be made after the weekend. In other words, if they all took the weekend off of negotiations, they all have a critical point in negotiations to begin or finish on Monday.
  25. notHahn, sadly I believe that at this point you should no longer try to get info from this source. If he voluntarily offers it, great, but it seems what with his irritation with whale questions that he may have gotten yelled at/talked to about the leak. Honestly, he was probably feeding you some fake info at this point. I'd bet money that the Sox monitor this forum, especially when there is info that they are annoyed with leaks. Good luck.
