Way to dodge the question! Dude, your replies are getting worse every day. Here...here's a ton more media members piling on. But yes, they are ALL wrong and there is no big deal with a 76 year old LaRussa running over his rookie in public for "bad sportsmanship" because too many people are being mean to the White Sox manager. Didn't know you were this soft...
-
Do you have a problem with a coach publicly running over his star rookie in the media?
-
I know it’s your job now to defend LaRussa because of the hole you’ve dug yourself is too deep to get out of....but if it’s no big deal...why did LaRussa even answer the question. It’s not just Soxtalk making a “big deal” about this....it’s all over baseball Twitter right now, as you’ve seen. This team is rolling....so why bring up and make this a distraction?
-
Add it to the list.
-
You were saying @ron883 @Buehrle>Wood? Nothing huh?
-
You joke, but I do think Tony standing out there is significant because you're right, we haven't really seen him much at all except when he removes a pitcher. Not saying he is doing something wrong with that.....but him standing on the grass like that during a HR trot seems odd...
-
LaRussa would have been wrong to tell him not to swing......BUT you're right that Tony would still have a valid reason to be upset with Yermin for not following commands. Both parties would be wrong.
-
I'm not following here? Sorry, I've been known to be an idiot.
-
I think you're putting too much weight on this. All we are talking about is the dumb Twins announcer....and if LaRussa possibly took issue with it. Again, we'll probably find out later today. Aside from that, we're just talking about a topic that comes up from time to time in baseball.
-
This is why it's not crazy to assume LaRussa had an issue with Yermin...I should also add that I'm very critical of LaRussa but if he takes issue with Yermin, it's really not even that big of a deal to me. Because it's not surprising in the least. It's what you expect with an "old school" manager...
-
Correct...which is why it's insane to think there is a time where Mercedes should keep his bat on his shoulder when a meatball comes in...
-
I don't know what it was. I'm not saying he was upset at Yermin because I don't know. But I'm curious to find out.
-
This was what they were talking about on the radio. Around the 16 second mark, LaRussa is in the bottom left. He seems "emotional" about something..
-
I know, I tried to make that point by saying You aren't wrong it's a belief the boomers have. I know you were just trying to add some reference.
-
They just spent 10 minutes talking about it in the flagship station for the Sox. So direct your anger there. And he will be asked about it pregame, so I don’t know what else you want.
-
I’m sorry but this is just beyond insane. You aren’t wrong in the sense that was the belief by the baby boomers, but it was wrong then and it’s wrong now. These are PAID, PROFESSIONAL athletes. This is how they make a living. Yermin is a perfect example here. Let’s say at the end of this year, he ends the season with 29 HR’s. The next two seasons he finishes with 30 HR’s each season. You know as well as I do when he’s up for arbitration, his agent being able to go to the table saying “Yermin hit 30 HR’s in his first three seasons” is going to earn his client more money than 29-30-30. As stupid as that sounds, it’s true. So Yermin is supposed to cost himself 500k because he is “supposed to place nice” and “respect the game” because that’s what they did in the 70’s? Absolutely insane
-
So there is chatter now that both LaRussa and Eaton were upset with Yermin and the HR. There is video floating out there of LaRussa visibly upset after the HR. I guess he is going to be asked about it pregame...be very interesting to hear his answer.
-
Bingo!
-
That’s the other thing. The Sox are “disrespecting” the game by swinging 3-0, but the Twins aren’t by having a position player throw 47? Get the fuck out of here you toolbox.
-
Can’t stand these old cranks. Their logic really is amazing. “Ah I don’t like that. He’s getting the same pitch on 3-1, swing then. But come on, you shouldn’t swing 3-0.” Can you imagine actually believing that?
-
I don’t think he implied you said you think he should be at the top of the order. What you did say is Madrigal “works counts”.....Kalapse determined that was a lie.

5/17 White Sox (Keuchel) v. Twins (Happ) Thread
Tony replied to bmags's topic in 2021 Season in Review
So we're going with Danny "Dickman" Mendick now? I missed that memo. -
I also don't disagree with this. Honestly, I think the biggest thing that could help his cause is the Sox winning 1-2 World Series in the next 5 years. If he played a major role in collecting a few World Series, it could push him over the top. But I still don't think he makes it, just not a long enough MLB career.
