This tells me that the Sox are close to acquiring their starter in LF/RF. They wouldn't trade him w/o something close, IMO.

The #WhiteSox, who are searching the marketplace for another OF and bullpen help, are telling teams that LF Dayan Viciedo is available. via Bob Nightengale.

Apparently this was from earlier in the day. Just said he was happy but not done or satisfied.

The White Sox have improved the DH/LH position, their bullpen including a real closer, and now a top of the rotation starter. With holes at 3B, C, and LF, the outfield seems the most likely to fill. Ultimately, as KW and Hahn said earlier, they are running low on funds. After everything is said and done, the Sox are a few million under $100M in payroll. How are the Sox going to get that needed piece (OF w/ glove that can hit well enough to slide into the #2 slot)? Trade seems most likely to me.

I think it's safe to say with a legit closer like Robertson, this team would have been around a .500 team last year. Couple that in with players like Avi being healthy and a better overall bullpen, plus LaRoche providing better protection for Abreu, who will in-turn be used to the work load this next year and you have yourself right around a 88-90 club just doing what they should do. Then you factor in Samardzija who should be better than anything we had after Sale and Quintana and I think that's good enough for close to 5 or more wins. Call it the short side and you have about a 92 win team.

I think unless they unload Danks, Masterson isn't really an option. Could very well put up Noesi numbers for 7x the price.

I swear, some of you simply can't be happy with any deal. They just got a top of the rotation pitcher for 2 unknowns that made it to the majors and had a small amount of "success" if you could even call it that. Beck and Danish will make most forgot the prospects of Bassitt in a short time.
