  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) Is stealing signs cheating? Is spitting on the ball cheating? Is putting vasoline on the bill of your cap cheating? Is claiming your safe when you know you were out cheating? Is turning on ventilation fans to blow in from LF cheating? Or are we only talking about degrees of cheating? Cheating is cheating. To Quantify it but money is weird to me. It's not as wrong for a player that is making it to the majors over a guy in a FA year? Why? Most people forget that sports are entertainment. I want to win, don't care about other player's pasts. Each and every player has a calculated risk involved.
  2. Just like any other "drug" there are many ways to mask them during tests. It's like talking down on someone who got a ticket for speeding. Even if you haven't received a ticket for it, we are all guilty of doing it. Just because players don't get caught, doesn't mean they haven't done something like this. It's best to simply leave your personal feelings out of it or not watch professional sports, period.
  3. QUOTE (MAX @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) I guess in my mind, cheating to make it to the big leagues is a much lesser offense than cheating to make many more millions. Its akin to the motivation for a crime being taken into account while determining what crime is being charged, or during sentencing. Then the sox go and reward the guy who cheated to make millions. Is there no hypocrisy there? am i nuts? It's pretty outrageous that these guys make as much as they do period. I just think "cheating" is cheating. Not sure where a line can honestly be drawn, especially since a minor leaguer makes less than a Major Leaguer. They all want to make more.
  4. Lol, some people here are mind blowing. Nieto was caught juicing too, no one b****es about that, that I have seen. Flowers and Quintana have been caught "cheating" too, but I don't see anyone renouncing their fandom over that. I find it very odd to pick and choose where to draw the line of "cheater".
  5. I would assume the team is about done making moves BUT I would not be surprised to see a push for Jason Castro.
  6. It's the real Bruce Levine but he's literally the only one to "break" this so it has me concerned.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) The equivalent of Kotsay and A.Jones five years later. As great as this off season has been so far, it has also been a big reminder at just how many holes this team had. Hard to fix it all in one off season without spending $130M in payroll.
  8. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) I'm literally walking around with forks stuck in my eye sockets from imagining this. Not ideal but seems more and more likely.
  9. I think some forget just how dominating Noesi can be. He didn't even get a full year w/ Coop. He also has 3 more years of control and fits that 5th spot very well, IMO. Danks is probably 2-3 good months away from a trade and Rodon sliding into it all. Overall, I think adding Samardzija makes their top 3 just as good as anyone's. IF they can slide into the playoffs, they are going to have a rotation that can run with anyone.
  10. Sadly, I don't think there's a chance the Sox swoop in and get him. I doubt they get rid of Tank at this point. May be a Ichiro and Tank platoon.
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) Someone make sense of this for me. What exactly is a too LH OF ? Ther'e only 2 OF positions and unless there's a switch hitter in the bunch it'll either be 2 RH's or 2 LH's. ANd there iare still some guys who bat LH but throw RH. Mirosi is simply talking out of his a$$. Hahn has said the exact opposite just a few weeks ago.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) Either way he's still likely to hit 20-25 HR's and play good defense and provide CF backup. All at a pretty affordable price, too.
  13. Masterson got paid for being a very big unknown with potential upside...
  14. Can't help but really enjoy this trade. Say what you will about Jennings but he got the job done in pretty nice fashion. Nice back end to the pen, piece.
  15. Per Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers are flipping Andrew Heaney to the Angels. Lol. ...For Howie Hendrick.
  16. Dickerson would cost an arm and a leg. Control until 2020 and already good numbers in his 2nd season. Would guess a top prospect or two would have to go that way.
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) Ichiro was just mentioned by nightengale- "debate going on in white sox camp about signing him" I hope not...
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 05:44 PM) They lost 7 games when leading going into the 9th. They lost a total of 14 games when leading or tied going into the ninth. A couple of adjustments can make a huge difference. THIS is exactly why I think Robertson makes this a .500 team last year and why I'm so excited he's a part of this team.
  19. I do think the Sox are maxing out within the next $5-10M. They are right at $100M right now with Viciedo and all the hidden costs. I've said all along that I didn't believe Merkin's report of $90M but I also don't think they go above $105M. They've already spent more payroll than they came in with.
  20. Both Hayes and Schouwen have mentioned Rasmus multiple times today. Hayes went on to tweet that he doesn't expect Rasmus to cost too much or command too many years. I would guess the Sox have a $105 budget, if that's the case they would have about $9M to work with after they unloaded Viciedo for peanuts.
  21. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) Ya the Royals are losing Shields, may trade pen pieces for a bat. They have to struggle and manufacture runs. Very little power in the lineup. Tigers bullpen sucks, lost Hunter, their SS has injury issues. They may lose Scherzer. Verlander is declining. Truth is this division will beat up on each other. I simply think it's realistic to think that the Sox can compete in this division. In the playoffs, anything can happen, as we've seen.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) Well if you want to see an opinion that is as negative as possible about the team here it is. Exactly what I was thinking... Oh well. No one is going to burst my bubble. With a better closer, this was close to a .500 team last year. Good pieces so far this year lead me to believe they can contend.
  23. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 07:14 PM) Hahn was pushing for Castro last winter, but the asking price was Quintana. With the season Castro is coming off of, the White Sox may be able to get him for a top 11-20 prospect and perhaps another midlevel prospect. I really don't see Houston being interested in Danks or Viciedo. Any deal for Castro would have to be via the farm system. Not sure I feel comfortable emptying the farm again....
  24. Does anyone like Rock or Bucket have any idea what it would take to acquire Castro?
