This Twins offseason kind of reminds me of the 2015/2016 Sox. Desperately trying to compete while having a very flawed roster that will result in a rebuild. Correa is gone after this season for sure assuming he doesn’t suck.

Also the Sox tend to not want their interest in a player to be publicly leaked. They like to work behind the scenes.

TA isn’t a free agent until after 2024 and Cease until after 2025. Don’t think signing Conforto to a 4 or 5 year deal really impacts much of anything.

That doesn’t make all that much sense to me as Giolito is really the only young player that will command significant dollars to keep.

Well they should because that isn’t outrageous for a player of Conforto’s caliber.

I disagree with the take that getting Bellinger isn’t possible. Sure it’s unlikely but that guy was god awful last year and is being paid a lot. I think swapping him for Kimbrel with smaller pieces also going to LA makes sense for both sides.

No, in real life. His presence would’ve helped a lot against McCullers in the playoffs.

He’s a stud against right handers. That’s why you sign him.

Definitely seems like a possibility. Maybe something like Kimbrel++ for Austin Meadows and Sheets++ for Manaea.

If the Soler to the Padres rumors and Castellanos to the Phillies rumors from Twitter are true, who’s even left in the running for Conforto besides the Sox?

Reading between the lines, it sounds like the Sox might be shopping Burger according to what Stone said. Said the stuff about auditioning for 29 other teams and that he needs to play.

Didn’t say that but the Tigers are definitely on an upwards trajectory. The Sox are still better but I don’t think the division will be as much of a runaway as it was last year.

He’s not wrong. The Tigers are going to be a problem sooner rather than later.

Those are huge if’s. I don’t think the Sox are even the best team in the AL at this point let alone all of MLB.

On the most basic level I like watching the games because I get enjoyment out of it, but this team just isn’t good enough to win the whole thing and that was supposed to be the goal this season.

Worst part is that they had a chance to redeem themselves this offseason yet they managed to find a way to fuck that up too.

I’m not even that excited for the season anymore. The Sox aren’t on the same level as the top tier teams and this was supposed to be the year where they were on that level. Feel like we sat through all those rebuilding years just to get knocked out in the ALDS year after year.

So they spent the budget on a couple relievers and a few shitty utility players. Great use of resources right there.
