  1. While that'd be great, they aren't spending that type of $.
  2. I don't believe so

  4. Hagen with two perfect innings in his start today with four strikeouts.
  5. Staff is expected to be finalized by the end of the week as well.
  6. In regards to the Sox, if they were trying to contend and had limited 40-man space to work with, leaving him off would make more sense given the injury. They aren't trying to contend and have plenty of 40 man spots to play with, so losing a young valuable arm for nothing would just be negligence IMO. Admittedly I'm a fan of his and would hate to see him go elsewhere.
  7. You're correct. Time (at least 90 days) needs to be spent on the active roster in order for that team to gain control of said player sans R5 selection rules.
  8. Correct, a bad team could make that work easily IMO.
  9. He'd be more appealing IMO because he could spend a good chunk of time on the 60-day IL to free up that 40-man space until he's ready.
  10. Schultz is R5 eligible next year. Colson was 19 when he was drafted, Noah was 18.
  11. I believe that Brooks Boyer mentioned in some sort of meeting with the media recently that the next 12-18 months are crucial in regards to the (next) stadium. So while all is quiet now, they'll have to step on the gas soon because the clock is ticking. If there's no legitimate news by this time next year I could see extending the lease for a year or two being likely.

  13. Barons really playing with fire in the 7th & 8th but escaped tough jams, heading to the ninth up 3 with runners on the corners, nobody out.
  14. Pipeline just released their top 50, Graterol checks in at 31, Romero isn't on the list. I get why they don't do it, but it irks me when they don't mention who the players are signing with.
  15. My point is that I wouldn't deem him qualified for the position in the first place, but the Sox have (allegedly) hitched their wagon to him for another year.
  16. Not how I would phrase it but to each their own.
  17. Benetti had experience calling baseball games for the Windy City Thunderbolts, the Salem Avalanche (HOU Single-A affiliate in '06), and Syracuse Chiefs in addition to other gigs in various sports before landing the Sox job. He was far more experienced in calling baseball than Schriffdog.
  18. I worded my response a bit wonky there. I'm not sure if he has a year left and the change would be effective for the 2027 season or after, but maybe it's just them riding out the contract and before doing their due diligence heading into the next search. The sooner the better IMO given how poorly the broadcast ranks, I would like to imagine that they aren't complacent or proud of that.
