  1. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) Here's the other point --if you believe they're in it, then Shark still should go to bolster the roster with an additional bat. Don't forget the misery and embarrassment of this offense because of one week. That's my concern, here. Shark shouldn't even be here now, let alone at the deadline. He wont be a part of our future past this season, and if forsaking him for an everyday offensive player meant risking the remainder of this season with Johnson id accept it. I'd trade Shark for an everyday offensive player who can play the rest of the season in a heartbeat, but that seems like an unrealistic return for a two-month rental. More likely is a couple prospects who might help in a year or two, and if we kick ass the next three games I might lean towards keeping Shark. I'd bring up Johnson regardless though to replace Danks, I just wish I had faith in the the front office to do a move like that.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) Why base your whole course of action on a two-game stretch? That's 1.2% of the season. What if the Sox win the next two then lose the next four? What if they lose the next two then win the next four? The Sox have now played about 100 games this year. They should make good decisions/trades for both the short- and long-term health of the club regardless of a ridiculously small sample of two games. Because there's only a few more days to make the decision, and the long-term value of the comp pick vs. what we would get in a trade is unlikely to be a huge gap (unless someone gets desperate and overpays, then by all means make the deal). If we win the next two games we're right in the thick of things, especially if the Pirates beat the Twins both days as well.
  3. With the trade deadline Friday, I don't see why a decision has to be made on Samardzija tonight. If we lose the next two sell him off, if we win the next two only trade him if you get a great deal.
  4. I don't really want to add a bat if it costs us a good prospect. I'm down with not trading Shark if we keep kicking ass in Fenway the next three days due to the comp pick but I don't want to trade away a Montas/Danish/Adams/Micah for a small chance at a play-in game.
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) Well, the Edwin Jackson/Daniel Hudson trade was pretty bad.. Hudson has only had one season where he was healthy and Jackson did well for us that season anyway. It was a wash.
  6. Updated July numbers: Melky: .349/.372/.605 Eaton: .284/.383/.494 Sanchez: .325/.350/.468 Keep hitting guys
  7. I don't want to deal Quintana because I don't trust that Kenny would get the right return for him.
  8. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:02 AM) Maybe we get stoned and acquire Castro. I wouldn't give up Scott Carroll for Castro.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:57 PM) They might trade him to us to try and get Anderson now If Hahn trades Anderson for CarGo I will be super pissed, no way he's worth our top prospect.
  10. What the hell? Why are they getting another bat?
  11. Eaton really only had one (very) bad month at the plate. People were jumping all over him through the All-Star break, but since May 1st he's hitting .272/.352/.447 That's better than last year. He's been fine for most of the season.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:40 PM) It was ridiculous for people to deem them as failures less than halfway into the first year of either deal. And Eaton's deal was never going to be an albatross anyway. Most we're paying him in any one year is $8 million if you don't count the option years.
  13. That was Axford's 4th blown save in a row. Wow.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:42 PM) Just brutal, seems like a possibly season-saving win for them. Cubs bandwagon back in full force, I'm sure. No Chicago sports radio for me tomorrow. Giants (and I guess Dodgers too) just need to keep winning like they are now. Although the Cubs do have a very soft schedule the rest of the way and the Giants' schedule in August is brutal (softens up in September though).
  15. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) Wow the Cubs suck. That is all. I have seriously bet on the Cubs 4 days in a row now and I'm about to lose my 4th parlay because of these cocksuckers. Well there you go.
  16. If we're trading Quintana, Puig or bust.
  17. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) Playing well against teams not playing as well vs playing 2 good teams out of all star break and going 1-5 is a great way tell if you can compete. Could have easily been 3-3, and all the teams we're competing with for that 2nd wildcard are very mediocre.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) I'm going to guess the Cubs trade for Papelbon in the next few days. Holy s*** 8-7 Rockies what the hell happened?
  19. Win at least 2 of the next 3 and if the Pirates take the series against the Twins suddenly you have a race. Hell bring up Johnson anyway and banish Danks to the pen.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:08 PM) Which means there's pretty much no way you can bring him back tomorrow except for a single batter or two. And now Petricka was extended as well. Someone's going to have to step up tomorrow, either the offense or Samardzija. 19-12 last 31, 9-2/1-6/5-0 (15-8 sounds better!) This means flavum's projected records are about to start appearing again, haha. Samardzija goes 8 and Putnam pitches the 9th. Problem solved.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) Am I the only one who's pissed about the defensive indifference? It'd be 10-7 right now. No you're not, it's beyond stupid to give up two of those in the same inning.
  22. What the f*** are you doing Robertson
  23. This game won't f***ing end. I hate the Red Sox.
  24. End this s*** Robertson.
