20 Players Who Could Be Dealt At Deadline (MLB.com)
QUOTE (SoxSteve @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Again forget about WAR. Austin Jackson has a better WAR than Fowler but who do you want on your team? A guy who gets on base at a 370 clip or a guy who can't get on base. We need a 2 hole hitter not a number 9 hitter. Sure Jackson is a better fielder but thats why we have defensive replacements. We need a 2 hole hitter that won't cost us our minor leagues. He fits the bill perfectly no matter what his WAR says. And flowers was a great pitch framer, lol. Meaningless Sounds like a classic case of "this stat doesn't fit my viewpoint, so I'm just going to ignore it". And no, Austin Jackson doesn't have a better WAR than Fowler, not sure what you're looking at.

*Gamethread* 4/21 - Angels vs White Sox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) It obviously isn't about the logo, that is just silly. It is about the match up itself. There is a reason that Weaver has pitched well historically again us, and that is we have a team full of free swingers who chases a lot of stuff out of the strike zone. Avi Garcia is absolutely one, but so is a guy like Jose Abreu. Think Bruce Chen. This team has problems against this type of pitcher historically. Abreu is a free swinger but the good news is that his O-Swing% is by far the lowest of his career so far this year (33% this year vs. 38% last year and almost 42% in 2014). So it seems like he is improving in that regard, and swing rates are the quickest to stabilize so it's good news, unfortunately the results just aren't there yet.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) Danks aside, how about this turnaround on defense? Defensive numbers so far: DRS: 6th ARM: 5th UZR: 7th UZR/150: 6th Overall Def: 5th Should also note the Sox currently have the 5th ranked defensive catching tandem. Atlanta is 26th. Obviously defensive stats in a small sample size should be taken with a huge grain of salt, but it's interesting that Eaton and Melky rate as our top two defenders while Jackson is by far the worst (by either stat). Looks like UZR and DRS disagree on Frazier and Lawrie, Frazier looks bad by UZR but good by DRS, with Lawrie the opposite.

Pitching numbers are unreal
QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Thinking about Danks numbers. Before expansion, he would have been teaching a PE class somewhere and impressing the kids with his stuff. Before expansion? What does this mean? Did you forget that there's a reason he got the contract he did in the first place?

Back Up First Base
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 08:37 AM) He was fine there, but not great. Frazier is far better defensively, which is why I want to keep Frazier there virtually all the time. Both UZR and DRS said he was great there last year, and I thought the eye test backed that up.

Back Up First Base
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) It just seems close to implausible the White Sox would give Coats the starting job at the end of April or in early May when they're in first place or within hailing distance of KC/Detroit. After passing on all those available hitters (and yes, a large part of it was the late timing of the LaRoche decision), it's going to feel like a slap in the face to fans having to watch the likes of Upton and Gordon in the same division while the White Sox continue as a bottom 8-10 MLB offense. You can argue the Tigers have Gose getting at-bats, the Royals have Dyson/Orlando/Fuentes...but both of those offenses are much more balanced top to bottom. Garcia's spot was EXPECTED to be roughly the 4th or 5th most productive in the line-up (after Abreu, Frazier, Eaton and Cabrera)...at the very worst, the equivalent of Lawrie. That's a lot of pressure to put on a rookie, and a test that has been failed more often than not. The last homegrown rookies who held their own were Fields and Owens in 2007, and those were pretty meaningless games that they excelled in...same with Trayce Thompson last year. If Coats can provide better offense than Garcia or Sands right now, then who cares? We all know we desperately need an upgrade, but until that happens just go with the best option, and that could be Coats for all we know. Not sure how having Coats out there would be a bigger "slap in the face to fans" than continuing to trot Avi out there.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) Weaver career vs the White Sox. 10-2 1.99 era 86IP 84K 15BB 65H 0.93 WHIP Does that mean all that much though when this Sox team is vastly different than all the other Sox teams he faced?

Pitching numbers are unreal
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 06:09 AM) While I agree Latos isn't this good, I do believe Danks IS this bad. Based on what, exactly? This would be far worse than anything he's done in the past few years.

QUOTE (SoxSteve @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) Why is that? Tell me one thing i said about Markakis and the White Sox that wasn't true? He means Gold Gloves are worthless. Derek Jeter has 4 of them, that should say it all.

QUOTE (SnB @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) What happened? Trout hit a grounder to third. Frazier makes a diving stop, throw is in the dirt and gets away from Sands. Trout is slow to react and slips before heading to 2nd, which allows the throw to beat him and Saladino to get the tag down.

***Gamethread 4./20 - Angels vs White Sox***
That was a Yes! No! Yes! play for sure.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) Really hate how Robin used the pen today. Meh if Sands holds on or the ump makes the correct call on that check swing, it's fine. I like the Robertson call.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Great, that run is charged to Sale too. f***ing fantastic. Is it though? The inning should have been over if not for the error.
