  1. Ive given up hope that anything will happen soon. Probably after the WBC.
  2. QUOTE (shakes @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) And the Sox have averaged 72 wins the last four years. Honestly, what is your point besides whining? If this rebuild would've started three years ago like it should have they could already be in that window of contention. Instead we got to try and count on players like Matt Latos, Jimmy Rollins, JB Shuck, Jacob Turner, Dioner Navarro, Matt Albers, Kyle Drabek, Gordon Beckham, Hector Noesi, Adam Laroche, John Danks, Jordan Danks, Scott Carroll, Gordon Beckham, Ronald Belisario, Andre Rienzo, Dylan Axelrod, Blake Tekotte's of the world to try and win. That was a fun time as a fan. Beckham was such a failure you included him twice
  3. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) This makes me call BS on the supposed trade with the Astros that was turned down. I think they're asking for more than the Musgrove package. I hope so. I thought it was very light
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) Eh. I have no interest in wasting major league money on an intentionally bad product, nor do I feel like getting excited about knowing this is going to be the worst time to be a Sox fan in decades. Hoping what might happen in five years isn't really a reason to be excited today for me. It is the route we have chosen and all, but it is so depressing. It isn't like you can sim this time period to see if it works like OOTP. You have to live through the misery. Bleh. What does your pity party have to do with this thread? If you arent interested then dont even bother posting. What do you want the FO to do? Seriously.
  5. The following post is from a typical Yankees fan over at Pinstripe Alley:
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) I'm guessing twitter is where the "pitchfork" yankee fans are? Pinstripealley and Riveraveblues have been very excited as a whole. Yes, Twitterbis where im reading all the posts. Reddit to a lesser extent but they are more knowledgeable overall.
  7. Nice job guys. You turned a thread about Quintana into Cubs discussion. Can you PM eachother so we dont have to wallow through this garbage? Thanks.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 01:51 AM) Cashman looked pretty dumb with the Loaiza/Contreras move and letting Q get away for nothing...it's not impossible to imagine bringing him back, but it MIGHT complicate matters a bit. He would have to face a new battery of questions about what they missed the first time, and giving up a haul like Torres/Frazier/Rutherford (2 of 3) would put a ton of pressure on him (about as much as possible) because of the fact that "casual" AL East fans or non roto/saber people just aren't familiar with how good Quintana really is. You ask the average Yankees or Mets fans, they'd tell you Jose is maybe a 3 or 4 starter, simply because most aren't familiar with him, and then there are lot of fans that just look at ERA, wins and losses, K numbers and the fact that he throws pretty hard for a lefty but isn't a fireballer who racks up 12-15 k's every month will make those same fans blanch a little bit at the cost when the hype around Torres/Frazier/Rutherford is so big (any Yankees' prospects, for that matter). Most Yankees' fans believe the team is just made out of money and can buy any starter they want...that's another perception issue to overcome. And then there's the fact that even WITH Q the Yankees might be coming up a bit short against the Red Sox and Blue Jays, and then the Orioles will always go bargain shopping for the next Nelson Cruz or Trumbo and strike gold yet again in that market. Just look at their reactions to the runors. They already have their pitchforks ready if they trade even 1 top prospect. One guy says Q gives up way too many homeruns and thus wouldnt be a good Yankee. Someone replied that he gives up way fewer than Tanaka. Yankeea fans are in their own little world.
  9. This NYY trade isnt going to happen. Cashman would be crucified by their low baseball IQ fanbase.
  10. I will be interested in development for sure. That said I know the ultimate goal is to have a World Series contending club. Going to be spending a lot of time on OOTP. Maybe I will make a series of it
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 10:15 PM) It just dawned on me: This offseason is going to be painfully slow. We've got like 50 days until pitchers and catchers report. Time to move on with my life. {good luck with that, don\'t read soxtalk daily like an obsessed fool} Might as well say 800 days. Next two seasons will feel slow.
  12. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) For some reason that sounds like a movie quote Im working on it
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) Why hasn't a deal been announced this morning already? What the f***... not like anything is going on. I just want to get on with my life.. find a girl and a job and settle down.. maybe get a dog
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) If they sign Trumbo (and maybe Wieters) I think it's possible. All-in mode. They werent in on EE (I don't think) I doubt they sign Trumbo
  15. I do find it strange that the big boys never confirmed nor denied the rumors about the 3 way trade. Normally Rosenthal would entertain the discussion and chime in but he was completely silent even after countless people tweeted him.
  16. It must be depressing to be a teenager living in your father's shadow so much so that it comes out in your scouting reports. I am sure scouts would be more positive if he was the son of a line cook.
  17. I hope the Rockies sign Wieters, it would give them more incentive to go after Quintana. They would be a fringe wc contender assuming Wietera production translate well at Coors. Their pitching still sucks. Rodgers Tapia Murphy
  18. Someone needs to take McCutchen
  19. Pirates deal unlikely unless they can stay under budget. We thought Jerry was bad, they have a real Scrooge in Pittsburgh.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 01:23 AM) To be fair, I don't have this type of influence. I tried to make it clear on Twitter, but I never said it was imminent. Just that framework was talked about, the Sox wanted to get something done and the Pirates are serious in their interest of Q. After I tweeted about it, I spoke about the idea if the three way stalled, the Pirates were likely to still make a push for Q. Of course that wasn't as sexy as that three way deal so it doesn't get the play. There is reason to believe the Yankees are/were the hold up though. I should note that both Bruce Levine and Carmen DeFalco (spelling?, Idk) had acknowledged today that they had heard of the same three way framework. I have heard it from two different, unrelated, trusted sources that the deal was being discussed so I have utmost confidence the deal was actually discussed, I don't have the same confidence it'll get done though. You chose your words well. You never said it was going to happen but that it was fluid. I don't think anyone here is doubting you. Again thanks for the information.
  21. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:35 PM) Is there beer? I'm in. Seth Beer?
  22. See you all after Christmas for more circle jerking
  23. If it was a controlled leak to entice another club (astros) then why involve the yankees at all. Throw something believable at them. Yankees involvement makes no sense at all.
