White Sox Sign Austin Jackson
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 03:07 AM) It's really nice when a move you have been asking for for months finally happens. Once we lost out on the big 3, I wanted Jackson over Fowler so, so hard. Glad it happened. Yet another very low cost pick-up that fills a big hole. Even if Jackson is just a league average player, that's more than 3 WAR improvement over Avi Garcia's 2015 debacle. The most important thing he brings to this team is defense. Not only is Jackson an improvement over Eaton's weirdly horrible 2015 defensive season (+13 DRS from Eaton to AJax), but Eaton will quite easily be an upgrade over Avi's horrendous OF play (-22 DRS in only 176 games in RF). Now the question is whether Eaton or Melky will play RF. Eaton is the presumably the better corner OF, but Melky has the better arm, so it's hard to say. Avi then hopefully gets put in a platoon role with LaRoche. In 2015 Avi hit .293 with a 103 wRC+ against LHP, and LaRoche hit 64 points higher with a 93 wRC+ versus RHP (-1 against LHP, lulz). Both of their wRC+ are higher for their careers against those splits, but the I wanted to use what is hopefully their worst-case-scenario splits, which equate to a decent hitter when combined. Good post, I always cringe when I see Avi's splits. It is amazing how replacing Avi with an average player can drastically improve the club. Not only does it improve the outfield but it also makes the DH position respectable. Ventura has a lot of options here to play with. Lets hope he uses them to their full potential.

USA Today 2016 season predicitions
I'm telling myself to be realistic with my expectations. The last few seasons of blind optimism have been pretty hurtful.

MLB looking at strategy of deliberate tanking
I have always liked the idea of a draft lottery because it would be an exciting event. Imagine if there was one this season and we somehow landed the #1 pick?

How the White Sox can find their next great hitter
I would bet this has been discussed. You can't ignore a potential market of over 1 billion people.

mlb network top 1st baseman right now
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 24, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Paul Goldschmidt is a beast. Remember the Goldy for Konerko trade "rumors"? Wow! I didn't know about this. Can you imagine?!

QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 12:07 AM) i think some sports writer said in another thread, the sox FO stated they will not go after any one that will cost a draft pick. i hope i got it right. I hope you got that right too.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
Will Cespedes want to play CF? I know he was itching for it according to the announcers during the playoffs.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 02:49 AM) KW is the problem if it's not going the way you want. This is a quote of his according to a broadcast back during the summer.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
KW can never lose face. He believes Avi is going to be a 300/30/100 and 30sb kind of player.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
The Sox will be in some serious trouble if they have another string of catastrophic seasons. How many young baseball fans would want to cheer for the Sox over the Cubs at this point? IMO getting this team to a couple of playoff years in a row will do wonders to the fan base. I don't care who they get, but they better be confident that whoever it is will lead them to the postseason. I honestly believe the best candidate is Cespedes but my gut is telling me otherwise. I'm not sure if that is the disappointment of Dunn and his brother LaRoche in the back of my mind though.

how does he get that contract? this is getting insane

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) At the end of the day, they got the guys they wanted, and conceivably Theo built the team he wanted. If I'm a Cubs fan, I can't be too mad at their contracts. if im a cubs fan im buying a ton of merchandise and tickets right now they are so excited and for good reason

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
I kind of like the Orioles saying f*** you to Boras. There is no way anybody signs Davis for what the Orioles offered.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) Ugh. The Sox wouldn't be actively looking for an outfielder if they truly hoped that Avisail could become Cespedes. During a game this year Hawk said that KW believes that Avi will turn into a 300/30hr/30sb kind of player i s*** you not

Jose Paniagua
How do you guys still remember those twins teams? I looked to put it out of my memory early and got some therapy. I dreamt of LEEEEEWWWWWWWWW and a broken record of Hawk repeating how Johan's changeup puts offenses into funks. Waaaay back in 2003 or 2004 when I used to post on the mlb sox forums some guy made a post about how the Sox were something like 3 and 29 against the Twins in the second half since 2001. Don't quote me on the exact numbers but it was something atrocious.
