Yowsa, this is a tough 1st inning for the Braves and there is still only 1 out...4 runs in for the Cardinals... Braves starting pitcher pulled

Which players are you paying extra attention to next year?

Bryce Bush -
I just think Walker is going to be a doubles machine with a nice OBP when he makes it to the South Side.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
wegner replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thanks for the wonderful feedback from you and NWINFan...It seems like those teams would have had a terrific opportunity for multiple World Series appearances and possible victories if there was the expanded playoffs that we have today. Teams with terrific pitching and defense might have had a shot once they got to the postseason. -
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
wegner replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This topic got me wondering about 2nd place finishes for the White Sox and I looked back in the 1950's. In 154 game seasons, the Sox won 94 games in 1954...91 games in 1955...85 games in 1956...90 games in 1957...82 games in 1958 They won 94 games in 1959 to make it to the World Series. Since I was not born until the mid 1960's, I wonder what it felt like to root for teams that were good enough to win quite a few games but always fall short of the Yankees and Indians mostly? -

Followed by a quote from Kenny that the Sox actually made the best offer if you include all the incentives ? -

So does the premise of this thread mean the Sox are going after Cole or not? ? -
In that regard, any chance they just make him the qualifying offer and he accepts it? Vaughan might be ready in 2021.

Let's have some predictions for who will be the first free agent signed by the Sox this off season. My prediction: Scooter Gennett

I would love to have AJ in the booth...that would be fun!!
-
Honestly, I do not think that he is going anywhere. The job seems to be his as long as he wants it. An interesting question is who will be his long term partner in the booth when Stone retires?
-
Haha, I was going to say we could trade him for John Rooney and a producer to be named later.
-
I think Rick Hahn needs to lock him up to a nice team friendly extension...we can always trade him to the Marlins for a couple of top 100 minor league announcers in a few years.
-
I just don't like the idea of moving Moncada off 3B after his great year. #1 priority should be to use the $ to get pitching!!!
-
Ok, I'll bite. My guess is Tanner Roark as a back of the rotation option.

I vote for the Cubbie game where Eloy hit the game winning homer. I was at that one and would like to relive the following...I did not see it but my wife said that whoever caught the ball was a Sox fan in the bleachers who, amid the cheers of "throw it back", stood on his chair holding his prize up high...Then he kissed the ball and sat back down. The Sox fans were very loud at Wrigley that night...it was awesome!!!
-
Haha, I had forgotten about Alburquerque. He actually had me fooled that he could be an ok pitching piece at the end of that season. And then they let him go. I just looked him up...Al is pitching in the Mexican league.
-
Thanks for clarifying that. Although, I am sure they could have called Despaigne...the guy never warmed up anyway. Just give him a jersey and a ball and tank away.
-
Quick question...do teams still get an extra man in September for double headers or not? I assume not due to the expanded rosters already and the minors season being over? Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.
-
Yes?

The Cubs are nothing when it comes to failures. Look at the Dodgers who have been to the playoffs every year since 2013 and have lost in the World Series the last 2 years!!! It must be miserable being a Dodgers fan.
-
I'd like to congratulate the Indians on going 18-1 against the Tigers this year. Of course that doesn't matter when you let Daniel Palka go yard twice in a must win game ? Turn out the lights, the partys over!!

That's soon to be gold glove winner Yolmer Sanchez. Or at least that is what Steve Stone keeps telling us. Please let us move on from Yolmer's antics especially at the price he will be at next season. I know that baseball is entertainment and I guess it was good that Yolmer brought some fun to this team over the last few years. But it is time to move on.
