  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 12:50 AM) Your name says it all. It would take a miracle. Not trying to be pettie, just sensing an opportunity to buy low on a player. Check out this article about "Cutch" who is hitting a robust .241 this season, MCutcheon hitting .241 gets benched
  2. *IF* Pittsburgh claimed Melky off waivers, what would it take to get McCutcheon, who they may be open to trading given the pretty severe fall off he has had this season? Or maybe that indicates he was on the juice last season? He was a .300 hitter last year and he was just benched for 3 games by Hurdle. They are in need of hitting and Melky, I think, could help them. If McCutcheon got back to his old form, he'd look great in our outfield.
  3. What we like about Anderson coming up to the plate is that he poses danger to the opposing pitcher, and that pressure can play dividends beyond his at bat. He has home run power and if he hits one in the gap, it is fun to watch him fly. This is an exciting ballplayer to watch, just like Eaton is. I like watching how fast he gets from first to third on a triple.
  4. The Sox are one of the oldest franchises in major league baseball, a team that defeated the Cubs in the World Series in 1906, and has won the World Series twice sionce then including one 11 years ago. Never forget, the last time we heard this kind of talk about the Cubs taking over the entire Chicago metro area was in the Fall of 2003, just before the NLCS. LOL! And how did the Cubs do in the Mets series in last years NLCS? Swept! O for 4. Yes, indeed, things can turn around rather quickly in sports. Does anyone think the Yankees and Dodgers or the Giants and Cardinals will ever stay down for very long? Stop all the hand wringing, finger pointing and worst of all the false outrage from pseudo Sox fans (aka Cub fans). Go to a game with friends, tail gate and have a good time. If you are a fair weather fan, , take your s---- to the Northside and leave Sox fans alone. Enough of the piling on. This has gotten way old. Get a life and move the ____ on.
  5. The trading deadline is a deadline designed for play-off bound teams, it is not meant for .500-ish teams to quickly rebuild for the stretch run or to reload for next season. I didn't see any other team's ace pitcher garner the attention that Sale did. Why, because of a silly tantrum? No reason whatsoever for the Sox to jump at trade offers unless those offers were compelling. Anyway, some of our players will go on waiver wire deals this year and hopefully that will satisfy those in the rebuild it camp, at least until we reach Hot Stove time when a few more trades will be made. "The dichotomy with the Northside couldn't be more obvious. We're almost completely irrelevant." Who is we? Irrelevant to whom? Cub fans? LOL. This is so transparent....
  6. So, nobody wanted anything we had other than Sale or Q, and the teams that kicked the tires on getting them never made a serious Offer. I'm not watching much more baseball this season until the Cubs get eliminated from the playoffs, at which point I will watch the highlights.
  7. One reason for stagnation over the past 10 years has been terrible scouting and talent evaluation. That resulted in bad trades and some wasted first round Draft picks like Beckham, Fulmer, Courtney Hawkins, Jared Mitchell. If better decisions had been made I have no doubt that Reinsdorf would have given management what they needed to get free agents to become competitive.
  8. If the Nats are still interested in Robertson I would package him with Carson Fulmer in exchange for Trea Turner and another prospect from their system.
  9. Sounds like Shuck 2.0
  10. To summarize the Sox trade deadline talks: There isn't one team that wants any player we have other than Sale and Quintana, and there are no serious talks involving either one of them. Get ready for a slow slog until the end of another disappointing season.
  11. Interesting discussion. I just read Join Heyman's article and I am starting to imagine a world where he gone and Sox fans start cutting up Sale jerseys. Jon Heyman on Yankees interest in Sale It is a bit crazy to think about but maybe (some of) the Cub prospects that the Yankees got from Epstein come back to the Sox as part of a package.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) We have a tradewinds sub-forum up above that has tons of trade rumors/tweets/posts and recent activity. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showforum=79 Thank you,
  13. Anyone hear any more trade rumors involving Chris Sale?
  14. "They are who we thought they were" - R.I.P Dennis Green.
  15. Too bad we don't have a major league pitcher ready to face the cubs tomorrow. Three would have been nice.
  16. cubz are 0-6 in the last 6 games that have had a playoff atmosphere. Well they are lucky to face a minor league pitcher tomorrow.
  17. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 07:15 AM) The way Sale reacted to the LaRoche thing back in April showed the fuse had been lit between Sale and management. I think some are missing that the uniform incident could have been anything, it just happened to be THE thing; i.e., a symptom not the cause. It was clear back then that he hated KW at least. Exactly. This is what he said before, which struck me as a statement that contained a lot of hostility or hate as you said: Sale commenting after LaRoach matter: "This is a bigger issue than being told his son can't be around. It's a much deeper issue," Sale said, then referred directly to Williams: "We got bold-faced lied to by someone we're supposed to be able to trust." The White Sox should have traded Sale after that disrespectful comment and frankly, I don't care what motivated it. Can anyone even imagine a Yankee calling Cashman a bald faced liar and remaining on the team? No more special rules for special players. That is what caused the LaRoach problem in the first place.
  18. We all recall when Sale had some angry words for Kenny Williams during the LaRoach incident and blamed KW and KW alone for LaRoach/LaRoach Jr. leaving. I hope this is not the case but the possibility that there may be a racial element to Sale's dislike for Kenny Williams has crossed my mind. It also could just be some residual hurt feelings and bitterness over the LaRoach affair. Either way this kind of behavior/insubordination seems to indicate Sale intentionally did something stupid because he wants out.
  19. I'm tired of Cubz fans like Jeff Passan sh_itting on the White Sox and hoping that they tank for 10 seasons then move the franchise out of Chicago. Give Sale and the Sox a break already. This is a young man in a competitive game where emotions sometimes boil over. Sale might have had a few drinks before the game and came in a little tipsy and combative. The entire Sox organization from the players to upper management have been under a lot of pressure this year. Lts of close losses and heart breaking games. Fans, especially cubz fans, need to back the eff off.
  20. No way I would trade Sale or Quintana. I might trade Fulmer after seeing hm pitch in the few games he has been in. Not sure why he needs all the French pastry in his wind-up but maybe that is detracting from his body control and consistency in locating pitches. The Sox put up the white flag for this season, but April 2017 is a long way off in baseball terms. A lot can be done to improve the team between now and then including changing the Manager and coaching staff. There may be some less obvious opportunities for a trade out there. The Nationals need an outfielder and bullpen help. I'd offer Melky and Duke (or Robertson) for Trea Turner.
  21. Any interview with Sox hater Dan Bernstein is going to have a lot of negativity toward the White Sox. Stone and Benetti are terribly annoying so among the changes, they both need to go.
  22. It has been pretty clear for a while that Robertson no longer has Closer stuff, at least since Robertson allowed 6 out of 7 runs in the ninth to blow a 7 run lead and lose to the Royals at the end of May. Just like he did in that game , Ventura sat and watched Robertson implode instead of getting him out of there, or going out to the mound himself to calm him down and perhaps mpart some useful information...like how to pitch guys. Robertson vs. Adam Lind had disaster written all over it. It was like you knew it was going to happen. The season is not over, but someone has to take responsibility for things to chanage. Demote Robertson from Closer status or trade him and re-assign Ventura to West coach scout.
  23. tray replied to FT35's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Cub fans are just dying to see the Sox "blow it up" and become bottom dwellers for the forseeable future. Admit it if that is what you want to see. The fact is that not every team that fails to make the playoffs is going to blow it up, try to get the highest Draft pick by having the worst record in baseball, and hope a budding star is available with that high pick that will turn the whole franchise around. The suggestion to trade Sale is a non-starter. He is a franchise player which means his value supersedes hos value on the field. His name is on countless fans jerseys and he has become synonymous with the White Sox. He ain't goin' nowhere. And neither is Quintana, Rodon Fulmer or Nate Jones. The pitching core stays for stability of the team and the franchise.
  24. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) There has to be something viable to replace Frazier if we trade him. Matt Davidson
  25. I don't know exactly this works. Do you announce to the rest of the league that certain players are available or just wait for the phone to ring? If it is the former then publish this list: - Available to the highest bidder Robertson Duke Frazier Lawrie Shields Avi Garcia Shuck AJax Melky Navarro Avila Abreu Anderson (yes, I'd offer him up right now while his value is sky high) Don't trade any pitchers other than Duke, Robertson and Shields.
